After watching this video, I went out and bought the Maxfli Tour. The Maxfli Tour was rated #1 for mid speed, and my driver speed is 92-95 mph. I’ve been searching for a gamer ball for the past two years, and just couldn’t find a ball that suits me. I’d been going back and forth between the TM tour response, and the Srixon z-star divide and q-star tour divides. I usually shoot mid-80’s, but played my first round with the Maxfli Tour today. One ball lasted the whole round, although I did notice it took a little damage on the first hole’s sand trap. Still played it, and played it well. Shot a 78. Feels very soft off the driver, like it seriously feels like it’s flattening out like a pancake. But I love the way it springs off the face of the club. Mid irons released on the greens more than I’d like, but still playable. Chips were fantastic, you could really get after it and park it tight within putting distance. Putting for me felt great. I like a soft feeling ball and this one I felt it could strike it and not worry about zooming it 6 feet passed the hole. At $104 for 48 balls, this may be my new gamer.
I’m more than likely in the slower swing speed category at my age but I’ve been playing Maxfli golf balls for a long time now and have been playing the tours for a good 2 years now. Good ball for a good value.
Been playing the Maxfli Tour since I saw it was the second most consistently made ball only to Titleist. Love it. Got my first hole-in-one as well as my 3 best rounds ever.
Been playing Maxfli for over 30 years and MGS testing gave me a nice reaffirming of my purchase choice. I get the high viz green (older eyes) and pick up a couple of dozen when they are on sale. Still don’t have a hole in one yet though.
When you did your ball test last year, I immediately ordered 4 boxes of the prov1 left dash ball online.. They were on sale ( 4 for 3) and clearly they’re the correct ball for my 85 mph swing speed. Add in the fact the quality and durability is there as well. It’s a leap of faith to go from what I was using ( Bridgestone E6) to a premium golf ball. My back up ball is the prov1. My index is 8.5. Thanks my golf spy. You guys rock!
Yes, with Titleist and ended up with the ProV1x. The Left Dash is definitely the longest players ball I've ever played but was just a little to hard coming off the face of the putter. Excellent content on this video with a few results which were definitely a surprise.
Just got fitted and bought Taylormade 2022 Stealth irons (5-PW) and the fitter recommended their Tour Response. Saw that it changed some since your test of 2020. So I'll keep using the balls I have now (B RXS) until it id time to buy new balls (don't lose them as often now a-days) and come back to you to see if my ~85 mph at age 79+ I can still benefit from the new and improved ones. THANKS for this data! Sometimes a change in balls within a swing speed range is less than 10 feet so "feel" and cost may play a bigger role than I thought before. Thanks again!
@@spi9177 I have a guy that picks balls (no water balls) at a local course. He lets me pick the ones I want, so I always play current balls in the best condition (again, I get to pick). I give him $20/dozen. I haven't bought a new ball in 10 years!
I'm in the slow category ,75 yrs old and average 195 yds with driver and the longest ball I've ever played is the Callaway Supersoft! Were these tested?
My drives are 250 total with the Supersoft. I tested a ProV1X and got only 5 feet more distance. The Callaway was also straighter. I'm playing my best golf ever with those Supersoft balls.
As someone who falls into the 105+ club head speed, the supersoft is too soft and compresses too much for me. My preferred ball is the Maxfli tour or srixon z star xv. But for someone who has a slow or mid swing speed, the callaway supersoft make great affordable balls.
Keep in mind this data pertains only to 36 urethane covered golf balls, and a Pinnacle Range ball all from their August 2021 ball test. So only one non urethane ball was tested, and it was a ball designed for durability and use at commercial driving ranges. I know that my golf spy believes that almost all golfers should use a urethane ball for the increase in green side spin. But many golfers already hit the ball high enough to stop the ball on iron shots and play courses with greens that are well watered. So now the urethane cover is only an advantage on a shot sided pitch shot for those golfers. So, if a ionomer or Surlyn covered ball reduced a little spin on the driver, allowing for a little more aerodynamic long shot with greater carry, reduced curvature due to reduced spin, and perhaps slightly longer run out of the ball, and those combined to be even just ten more yards, wouldn’t most golfers who hit the driver less than say 240 yards, who don’t routinely reach 500 yard par fives in two shots and would now be able to hit one less club into par fours and maybe even one less club into every green, benefit from hitting one less club and being a little more accurate with say their six iron as opposed to their five iron? On par fives, with two shots leading up to the third shot into the green, they may be hitting two less clubs into the green. Hey my golf spy, how about next time you bring in five or six of the best ionimer golf balls into the test so we can see how they compete on distance, even if they don’t compete as well on spin. Titleist Velocity, TaylorMade Distance, and a few others, please.
Never been fitted for a golf ball. But I used your recent golf ball testing to narrow down the choice of balls to hit based on my 110 mph driver speed. I used my Swing Caddy SC300i at home out doors. The device is fairly adequate for the test and the numbers were consistent. The Snell MTBX was the best fit for me and it still performs great on the course. Now that I own the Garmin R10 I’ll perform the test again and use balls from this video. The Snell balls are extremely consistent and I never find myself questioning the carry distance. Great video!! ProV1 -ProV1 Bridgestone Tour B X Snell MTBx Srixon Z Star XV
I've done the Titleist virtual fitting and it was great! I was actually the fitter's first fitting and we ended up in a great conversation, not only about the ball but my clubs, game, etc. Definitely worth the time! And the ball they recommended -- the left dash Pro V1 and it does go a very loooong way!
I have been fit for golf balls by both Titleist and Bridgestone in the past. Bottom line, I have been playing the AVX for the last two years.......until I discovered the Left Dash about a month ago and fell in love with the ball and now your testing confirms what I have been finding on the course. The only problem? I live in Florida and I cannot find the Left Dash in any store......I can only buy it online. I hope your testing lights a fire in Titleist and motivates them to get the ball in retail stores.
Love this content! As a high speed swinger, I was really surprised by the Tour Speed. I got a dozen for Christmas and was reluctant to use them instead of my usual Tour B XS, but they felt just as good and flew a bit farther.
I was fit by Bridgestone once and they asked what ball I was currently using. After seeing my swing speed they suggested their version of my current ball. They never even suggested any of their premium balls!! I later tried the BRX and found I really liked it and hit it farther. I currently play the Z Star but may try the Tour Speed and the left dash to see if they are better. Thanks for the great information.
I find some golf balls fly straighter off the tee than others when dealing with my tendency to slice/fade. To me that's more important than distance. Bridgestone Tour BX and Taylormade TP5X are the 2 best for me, to date. Thanks for distance comparison, though !!
I really appreciate this channel. I just discovered it probably because the UA-cam auto selected it. This is a well thought presentation. I will subscribe and hopefully can purchase something off of your site. I’m in the #3 group but keep gaining with lessons every week. Golf is one sport that can be taught. I’m no athlete.
I usually play a Pro v1 but recently started playing the Pro v1X to get a little more launch off my low spin driver. I would really like to try the Left Dash to cut the difference but it does not come in Optic Yellow (for old man's eyes). If you are providing Titleist any feedback, an Optic Yellow version of the Left Dash would be my input. Thanks for an interesting and valuable video.
Looks like I picked the right ball! My swing speed is typically around 90-105. Started using the Taylormade Tour Response last year and this video seems to confirm why I love this ball so much. Honestly I bought it because of the price but loved it and after this video and your review of the Tour Response I can see why I am so happy with this ball!
I don't know my SS but I hit my longest drives on average with the tour response. My last round I was past 150 yard stick on a par 5.............. so it was definitely over 300 poke.
Started the season with Maxfli Tour based on MGS testing; recently switched to TM Tour Response Stripe because I liked look & feel, their testing confirms very similar.
Haven’t been fit, but started playing around with ProV1’s vs TourSpeeds when they came out and I have to say I was impressed. Only complaint on the TourSpeed ball is that it left a little to be desired from a spin perspective.
I’ve been fit for a golf ball and the choice is TaylorMade Tour Response. So you proved it with the statistics shown today. This is by far the best video on golf balls ever seen. Thank you so much for providing this very informative analysis.
Been using the Bridgestone Tour BRX. It gives me good distance. My swing speed is around 90+. You said the Tour BX would be better. I'll give it a try. Didn't think my swing speed was fast enough for it.
I Have not been fit for a golf ball but have been playing the left dash for 2 years and listening to the data you provided I have already found the right ball for me Thanks for the info Keep up the good work Guys !
Yes. Turns out I needed a spinnier golf ball based on the loft of my irons and my delivery. Pro V1x came out the best for me. This video is extremely helpful and saves all of us from reading the same generic statements on the back of manufacturer boxes.
Great Vid, just curious. Did you test any Snell golf balls and if so where did they stack up?? Dean Snell is the creator of the pro V1 so I'm just curious about your results with that brand. Thanks so much.
We did! The MTB-X. As you can tell, not much separated the top 5 in each swing speed. The Snell was roughly 6-10 yards off the pace of the longest ball in each category (and performed better in the high and mid swing speeds). Thanks for watching!
I've not been fit for a golf ball, but have experiment with dozens of brands. 1 year post double knee replacement my swing has changed and I lost a ton of speed and distance. Even still I've dropped my handicap 5 stroke and holding at 8.2. If I could get back to average of at least 250yds with driver I think I could get myself in better scoring zone. Still happy I'm back to single digit handicap in over 20 years.
I have not...but I've earnestly tried to match up my swing with the reviews I've read/found and BY the WAY I'm really liking this format. It really suits you.
Yes, did a Bridgestone fitting years ago, but based upon your research and ball development, it's probably time to take your advice and go through another ball fitting. Great job Mygolfspy!
My SS is 102 and after a lot of research, moved into Vice Pro. Very happy with distance and consistency. Also, happy when I buy them and not sad when I occasionally lose one because of price. Also, very fun to play with the speckled, blue, shade and green balls. In tournaments I only play white. Previous ball was Callaway Chromesoft Triple Track. Loved it as well-didn’t love the price. Vice Pro is just as good or better-definitely funner! Made my first eagle from over 100 yards with this ball. Keeper.
I must admit I had never thought of being fitted for my golf ball. What's interesting from you analysis is that I already play 3 of the 5 balls in my class of swing. Great info.
Great video report. I've never been tested for a golf ball - but it makes good sense. Also the idea of playing the same golf ball in a round = good thinking. I play what I feel I've been striking well and getting good distance - until I try something else.........
I had a ball fitting done at Golf Galaxy. The take away that resulted was amazing. I had the best overall performance from the Maxfli Tour and Titlesit Tour Speed. I was AMAZED! I had been hitting the Pro V1 for quite a long time(9 years). I could not believe the difference. Do get a fitting for you ball as well as clubs. It could very well save you hundreds of dollars by just getting the right ball instead of buying new clubs.
Great video...I did not get fit for a golf ball but took three different balls into Golftec during several practice sessions and found the right ball for me.
Great video - LOVE the MGS content on golf balls as a result of the marathon testing! I was super skeptical of “golf ball fitting”, but went to PGAS last year for a fitting after playing Titleist ProV1x for many years. Bridgestone Tour B XS. Make a huge difference - not only “felt” much better putting (softer), but 15Y better in distance. Get this done.
Got fitted through the titleist zoom call chat for a AVX from a ProV1 I was playing. First round and a noticed drop in apex and spin on the driver, much better flight - especially on the windy day we played. Distanced on Arccos showed a jump by 20+yards on drives. Short game didn’t suffer with the less spin either, so win win. Definitely worth the 20min fit!
I believe you on that yardage jump. I found an AVX in the rough and have played three 9 hole rounds with it. Noticeable increase in distance, straighter and even bites a little on approach (something I'm not proficient at).
I would agree with this. Been Playing the Left Dash for the last Season. It’s longer off driver and Mid irons. Interestingly found a Chromesoft X playing yesterday and played it for a few holes. Certainly noticed the softer feel but was slightly shorter off the tee and spun allot.
Never been fitted for golf ball. Just started using Srixon on my indoor setup. According to monitor, flying over 10 yards further with driver than random balls from my shag bag. Thanks for the info.
I love MGS- I am a 100-103 swing speed hitter but high spinner, so finding myself lost with what balls to play. I don't want a "low spinning ball" if my swing speed is going to be incorrect for compression or # of pieces, but I also don't want to lose distance off the tee just to have a ball that works around the greens with short irons and wedges. I cannot be alone!
I did a fitting with Bridgestone years ago. I have been playing the ProV1 because of MGS ball test showing it was the best all around ball and has the highest score in your ball lab test.
Great video--central to this is knowing your swing speed ! Have not found on line ball fitting very helpful because it is not brand agnostic. By knowing my swing speed (depending on the day, 85-95 mph on the cusp of low and mid), as well as on course trial and error, I have concluded for me at least, that the Titleist Tour Speed and the Maxfli Tour CG offer the longest distance, best feel and spin, and best VALUE !!!
I find it more than a little interesting that no ball low priced ball was even motioned. I hit a titleist velocity on average 10 to 12 yards long than any pro v1. By the far, the longest ball I have ever hit is the Volvik Vivid. It rolls forever! I guess there is no money in prompting them.
Wow my buddy & I were just talking about the left dash & boom a video appears! No, never was fitted for a ball, but seems interesting. PGA super-store is not too far away! Great video
I got fitted years ago by Bridgestone and was recommended the E6. Tried the TM Tour Response last year and loved them. Bought some Maxfli Tour balls but haven’t tied them yet. Also bought some Snell balls since you guys recommended them. Like the Tour Response better .
Have not been fit for golf ball - just purchased ones that were on the more expensive side of things, and then stuck with what felt the best. Some days I play Taylormade TP5x (white) and some days I play Bridgestone Tour B RXS (yellow).
Yes! I recently did a full bag upgrade and my fitting also included the golf ball. They put me in the Bridgestone TourB RX - probably because they’re pro Bridgestone. But Im currently looking for a cheaper option, so this definitely help. Thanks!
If you like the ball, like I do, buy them from Walmart and save $12 a dozen. I believe they are the previous years ball, but that doesn't matter to me.
Was fortunate enough to get fit by a Titleist ball fitter at our Club earlier this spring. Informative and thorough process. Recommended the ProV1, which is the same ball our Club's PGA Professional, Chris Nelson, had previously recommended for me. Getting fit for clubs and balls eliminates many excuses. :)
i’m honestly okay with sacrificing distance for more control and accuracy. i play a tp5. i made the switch from tp5x this season, about s few months in. i wasn’t able to work the ball as much as i would like, and i saw an increase in my wedge spin
Good video and info. I haven’t been fit for a golf ball because there are very few locations in the UK that will fit you, the ones that will, will be brand specific ie Titleist Thursdays, which will fit you into a Titleist ball.
I was most surprised that the Bridgestone BRX came in third for the 105 - 120 swing speed as it supposedly ment for under 105 SS and the Tiger ball was in the middle category but the robot doesn't lie. It would have been interesting to see the spin numbers of the winners of each category. Keep up the great content guys
I've been fit for my driver (gained 30+ yards), irons (gained more consistency), and recently putter (too soon to tell, but so far I feel more confident) but not my ball! I will do that next at the PGA super store. Thanks for the great video guys.
was fitted for a ball a few years back. fitted for the wrong ball. Was fitted for a B330, B Tour X. gave up and tested TM Lethal, TP5x and then came across the Wilson FG Tour. My game changed with FG Tour it out performed EVERY ball ive hit(dropped 8shots in handicap), now its the Model and Triad. I was only informed about Prov 1x L-dash two weeks ago.
I finally fixed my baseball slice and have been getting into golf really heavily and my best ball currently is the Calloway super soft. It’s my furthest drive ball and just seem to keep that the straightest. My club speed ranges from 115-120 for driver and can go 300-340 depending on roll
Now this is the way to give you the info you want. Straight to the point, accurate, no fluff. Very well done. Learned a ton here. 👍
These videos remind me of MyGolfSpy back in the day. Disruptive, honest and not afraid to step on some toes.
And for a hell of a price too! Love to hear it!
I’ve been playing the tourX but thinking about going left dash on my next box

Totally awesome!!!!!! Very informative…. really enjoyed the break down on all the swing speeds on different golf balls.
Titleist AVX for my 85mph swing speed has worked great for me for the past couple years. Thanks for the great content!

Love playing the Vice Drive ball. Yes it is the cheapest but most certainly easy for me to control a 280 drive rather than a pro v or a tp5.
Very interesting information on carry. I really enjoyed this video. Well done.
I'm in the slow category ,75 yrs old and average 195 yds with driver and the longest ball I've ever played is the Callaway Supersoft! Were these tested?
That’s my go-to ball in cool weather (I’m in the mid-speed category). They just really sail for me in cool weather 🤷🏼♂️.

I believe the lower spin balls are better for most of us, that back iron onto the green looks cool but is a massive fail for most.

Keep in mind this data pertains only to 36 urethane covered golf balls, and a Pinnacle Range ball all from their August 2021 ball test.

Great Vid, just curious. Did you test any Snell golf balls and if so where did they stack up?? Dean Snell is the creator of the pro V1 so I'm just curious about your results with that brand. Thanks so much.
I love snell. And they are as long as hell
@@crispycremesful I agree. That's why I was wondering where they tested on that video. 👊🏾👊🏾
We did! The MTB-X. As you can tell, not much separated the top 5 in each swing speed. The Snell was roughly 6-10 yards off the pace of the longest ball in each category (and performed better in the high and mid swing speeds). Thanks for watching!
Great video! Good information here and look forward to more. I just found your channel and I’m a fan now. Pls keep them coming.
Never been fit for a ball, didn't think it was needed, but watching this video changed my mind. Currently playing Callaway Chromesoft and Maxfli Tour
I have not...but I've earnestly tried to match up my swing with the reviews I've read/found and BY the WAY I'm really liking this format. It really suits you.
I have not been fit for a golf ball yet, but now I will! Great Video!
Yes, did a Bridgestone fitting years ago, but based upon your research and ball development, it's probably time to take your advice and go through another ball fitting. Great job Mygolfspy!
Thanks for the support!
Great info. Thanks for the time and effort involved !!!
Thanks for the info.
Never been fitted, but now I'm taking my game more seriously and need every yard I can get.
Fabulous info- doing a fitting changed my game! Big thumbs up! THANK YOU!!
I haven't been fitted for a golf ball and I haven't really thought of it until I saw this video. Thanks MyGolfSpy!!!!
Great video. I bought used pro v 1x for the first time today and they flew alot farther than my usual Callaway.
Keep the great videos coming
I have never been fit for a golf ball, I didn’t realize you could. I have had lessons but was unaware I could get fit for the ball. THANKS.
Out of curiosity, what Driver(s) were used in your testing? How many did you go through in this test. Great content.
I would agree with this. Been Playing the Left Dash for the last Season. It’s longer off driver and Mid irons. Interestingly found a Chromesoft X playing yesterday and played it for a few holes. Certainly noticed the softer feel but was slightly shorter off the tee and spun allot.
Glad YOU are back!
Great video once again team! Always love it see there's a new video out!
Never been fitted for golf ball. Just started using Srixon on my indoor setup. According to monitor, flying over 10 yards further with driver than random balls from my shag bag. Thanks for the info.
Gosh, I'm now a low swing speed player! I use a PV1x. Great advice to play the same ball.
Never been fitted, but happy with the Maxfli Tours price and performance
I’ve been fit by watching this!! Helpful, thanks
The VICE Pro Plus is a great ball for ANY swing speed...try it and save $$$ too. Feels good off the putter also.
I have never been fit for a ball, all clubs in the bag YES! Thank you all for the terrific info and tips
Thanks for the info. Love the videos. Do you have a comprehensive list to see where the ball I play would fall on the list?
Thanks for all the work boys and girls
WOW !! Thanks for all the testing. It was very interesting !!
Some days I play Taylormade TP5x (white) and some days I play Bridgestone Tour B RXS (yellow).
y/qualityGreat information. Thank You. I am curious how each of the balls ranked 1-5 placed on consistency/quality of fabrication.
@@davepalmerton2429 Unfortunately they’re never in stock here because we’re all doing the same thing
@@brianranum9585 True, unfortunately I sometimes have to go to more than one Walmart but buy them when I can.
Thanks for the great video guys.
great video, only thing is I haven't been fitted for a golf ball, and probably not fit for one either!!!
was fitted for a ball a few years back. fitted for the wrong ball.
Wow! Lots of work going into this review -- thank you so much. Getting fitted for the proper fit ball is on my list of things to do. thank you!
This is a very helpful video.
I have not been fit for a golf ball but I will now!
Excellent video! I had my fitting years ago and it is the Titleist Pro V1x. The problem is I can't stand losing them 😅
I finally fixed my baseball slice and have been getting into golf really heavily and my best ball currently is the Calloway super soft. It’s my furthest drive ball and just seem to keep that the straightest. My club speed ranges from 115-120 for driver and can go 300-340 depending on roll
