You should now test them playing at normal swing speed to see if “non target” players can get any benefit!
Agree! What happens when you put the swing speed at 100 mph?
A friend of mine with a 105 swing speed hit them over 20 yards longer.
@@alarmservicepros god I wish I didn't see this comment... this is going to be expensive
This is the best high detailed video I’ve seen with a sim, normally not this in depth I love it 👍
I found a couple of these balls on the course and was very impressed with them.
I use these balls. They're great, gives you extra distance and the price is right!!!
Reminds me of the 80's where serious golfers would be hitting balata and we amateurs were hitting Top-Flite rockets! Pros were allowed to switch back then, rocket off the tee, balata approach.
They couldn’t switch balls on the fairway. They usually would hit a top flight on a longer par 3 then switch to balata for other holes
Really wanted to see the difference if you swing as hard as you can. Please do another video!!
Yes
it wont work... the description said for under 250 yard... i'm guessing that it becomes counter intuitive if you swing hard as its for soft swingers.
Being following you for a while now... Man you turn any golf subject entertaining.... Good job!
I agree. I've been following him for years.
As a 71 yr old geezer living in The Villages, Fl ( or Golfers Heaven), I’ve played all brands of golf balls in the last 10 years, and the UNDISPUTED LONGEST ,STOPPING QUICKLY on the greens is the MG SENIOR golf ball… FOLKS this is the best ball to play
Good video. Just started hitting Taylormade distance golf balls off the tee and have picked up about ten yards.
No wonder my dads golf bag was loaded with these golf balls…
Huh 🤔
It all makes sense now!!!!
Lol 😂
Now if they also spin/stop good on wedges they might be a good replacement ball. I'm also curious on the price and how they compare to other balls.
I bought a dozen a couple of weeks ago...before I saw your video. I've played one 9-hole round with them. I found that I did hit it further off the tee. Probably 10-12 yards on average. Also hit the irons longer, too. Probably 5-8 yards on average.
Thanks Matt....You've confirmed my experience with the ball...
Yeah, club and a half is accurate. It adds ten off the tee - and 6 off the irons. Add them up, and you are a club to club and a half closer. Cannot wait until I am a senior golfer so I can use them!
Good video Matt. As usual.
It would be interesting to see how it works out with your normal swing speed
To be honest my swing is in the mid 90s with the driver and I have found the best balls for my carry are the softer golf balls such as Callaway Supersoft or the Taylor Made Soft Response. For me I lose distance using a Titleist ProV or other high end ball as they are usually somewhat harder.
Same
OFF TOPIC ... I AM LOOKING FOR A LAUNCH MONITOR THAT I CAN TAKE WITH ME ON COURSE SO I CAN SEE SHOT DATA AS I PLAY A ROUND...AS I GET TIRED AND SWITCH FROM CLUB TO CLUB..WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND ... I WAS LOOKING AT THE BUSHNELL, BUT IT IS KIND OF EXPENSIVE FOR A WEEKEND WARRIOR SUCH AS MYSELF. JUST NEED SOMETHING I CAN SET DOWN QUICKLY AND HIT A SHOT (OR 2 IF NEEDED) AND THEN MOVE TO THE NEXT SHOT AND KEEP PACE OF PLAY. OF COURSE I WOULD BE PLAYING AN AFTERNOON SOLO ROUND...IM SURE YOU GET WHAT I'M GOING FOR HERE...ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED
These ball plus PolyMax tape make for incredible drives.
Only available in the US for $24 bucks a dozen. Can't find on amazon.
Lol, "less than 250 yds", pretty much everybody
Will see how you do in your sixty's pal. I used to be able to hit 300. Now at 63 I still hit 250 but everyone can't. I'll save my LOL for you when you are 60+.
250 off the tee but probably still shooting in the 90s lol @@FLjeffinPCB
@FLjeffinPCB think you misunderstood what he meant. Was saying that he already hits under 250 and that pretty much everyone does
He was swinging like an 80yr old to show the effectiveness, it any
MG golf's Tour C4 ball was excellent. Played as good as the Pro V1. Not sure if they still make it.
We’ll see…I just ordered mine at Amazon for $29 one dozen.
How soft or hard are they around the greens? like a Titleist Velocity ??
Hi Matt....I always enjoy your videos and wish you the best with your channel...I have a request...I play in a group for fun...We are all seniors with the oldest being 83...I'm 75 and at times, I'm out driven by some of the younger guys in the group...I recently read about a small golf company which makes a ball, the MG Senior ball...The ball is not USGA conforming...Their claims are that with a slow swing speed,
My favorite golf balls to play I always order these balls I usually hit around 235-250 with my callaway supersoft
With MGs is 270,290…300+
What distance did you get with your normal swing speed driver?
You said you were going to leave the Amazon link, I dont see it.
Great video. But, I’m left with two questions. 1. What makes it illegal. 2. What happens if you hit it with a swing sound 100. -
106?
I’m confused. 1) why are they illegal ? Weight was good, size was good and core looked fine 2) They performed better than prov1 at low swing speed? Why isn’t everyone using them. Unless they cost a fortune
It usually means they are too hot off the clubface in testing.
@@keithpanco seeing the core and shell I wonder what causes that as it looked like it was similar to others I’ve seen cut in half. Interesting
I picked up some of these at goodwill. Ended up liking them a ton. I’m buying some since I lost them already 😅.
Where can I get “mr SG” stickers from like your logo on the wall?
Why use v1x? Recommendation is 100 clubs speed +.....v1 will be similar to mg for you but strait? I hit slightly faster with 90mph, can't hit a long Iron with the x at my speed...
Yeah, I've got about 5 dozen found Prov1x in my collection. Can't use them because with my lower swing speed it's like hitting rocks. Regular Prov1 are OK though, and the AVX are a great choice too.
The MG golf ball does give you more distance. I've been playing with it for two years now at less than half the price of ProV1.
If you launch a new ball to market you can bet Titlist will do everything it can to destroy it, including going to the USGA and The R&A. MG had a C4 ball just as good as any Pro V1 and Titleist destroyed their manufacturing deal a couple years ago.
There used to be a ball called "Condor" that was 20 yards further off the driver, it was crazy long
Test them at normal club head speed and post that video, this could confirm if the reported gains continue or plateau out
Maybe another vid using the standard MCG golf ball vs. the Titleist?
When we were kids we had Super Balls, a plastic/rubber ball that bounced like crazy.
Put that in a golf ball for some REAL distance.
Aerodynamics is critical is getting a true read. The simulator can not calculate that. You should try it out side
Any chance the directoon of cut is making one side appear thicker then the other
I wish he would cut open a few more across different axis locations to see if MG Senior balls frequently have this situation or if it was just the first one he cut open. He could mark on the ball where the cutting starts and where it ends to test your hypothesis also. Good point!
Moving up a tee box will get you more yards, lol.
Longer balls AND shorter tees wtf? Damn greedy seniors!
(btw, I'm 65)
Interesting. I wonder what is illegal about the ball. Is there a minimum compression level that a golf ball can have?
The extra thickness on one side will make a difference when putting as if you put it in a bowl of water you will see it will be out of balance for putting by flouting to one side all the time if you mark the top of golf ball
I doubt that these golf balls float. Would be great if they did though - easier to retrieve from the pond. 😝
@@JohnSmith-mx8wp they don't need to float but most of them do to a point but what you do is to mark top top part of the ball and drop it back in if the mark keeps going to the top it is out of balance you will be surprised to how many are out even pro-V1
People get a medium sized bowl of water and add epsom salts until a golf ball will float in the water. Then you gently place the ball in the water, spinning it as you place it in. When it stops spinning you take out the ball, dry it, and mark with a Sharpie the spot on the ball that was facing up with a dot. You repeat this a few times with the same ball and see if the same side or same point keeps coming up to the top or if different locations come to the top. If the same spot keeps coming to the top, then the ball is considered out of balance and has a “heavier” side and a “lighter” side. It’s debatable how much of a difference an out of balance ball might make when putting or hitting a full shot. I think it could make a slight difference, predominantly during putting on the last few feet (or maybe just inches) of a putt as the golf ball slows down and its forward momentum is waning.
Seniors hitting under 250, what about us Seniors hitting under 200?
That's just marketing. They are trying to open the ball up to more potential customers. Most seniors aren't hitting anywhere near 250.
I find that generally 2 piece balls go further than 3/4 piece balls and as you don’t normally get as much spin they do tend to be a little more forgiving.
For sure. I swing around 120mph with my driver, and I still prefer SuperSofts over premium balls because I get too much spin otherwise, and I can nuke the SuperSofts long and straight
@@HuntForParfection yeah I believe that to be true, have you used srixon soft feels? Another excellent budget ball.
@@laurencegoulty3196 The Srixon Soft Feel is a great ball, I've played most of my best rounds using them and my swing speed is above average.
Please hit some wedge shots to get an idea on short gane spin?
the mistery may stay in the design of the dimples
You should have compared them to the pro v1 it’s closer in comprehension to the MG !!!!
Wish I could achieve 85 mph swing speed. Wonder how this would work at way lower swing speeds.
First! Thank you for your vid's bud!
New to your app. Love you test. Keep testing. I need atleast 30 more yards. I'm 73. 😢
bigger Arc on your swing and shorten your driver to 44.5 OAL increases swing speed and accuracy
Move up thirty yards, problem solved.
Grip it and rip it and lets see the results💪👍
Interesting findings, but I do question the 250-yard marketing threshold. One average that I found for ALL age golfers was 225 yards. Seniors checked in at between 185 and 200. So, MG is going after ALL golfers, not just seniors. And, relatively speaking, senior results would be lower (distance-wise) than a younger, precision striker such as you. Also, a scary thought is how many players will swing even harder, figuring a little extra can only enhance the MG results. Another factor I question is durability. I know nothing about golf ball construction, but when you cut it open, it seemed as though the thin shell could be more prone to nicks and cutting. Does that make sense? Again, I don't know how golf balls are made.
You are correct on the Senior distance. I am average Golfer and 54 Years Old I normally get a Carry Distance of 210 Yards with roll out average of 230 Yards on Average.
You are correct. The average male golfer hits around 225 total. They think they hit 300, but they hit 225.
Exactly@@keithpanco
Oh, MG !
Mr .Long Game MG
Does testing of a ball inside give you the best info? Wouldn’t outside give you a better answer?
Why are you testing them in a simulator? They work with the wind given their dimple pattern.
It’s only illegal if your in a pro paid tournament
JLR investigates and Mr Shorts club are twins...thatsa team
I bought a dozen of these when they first came out. Maybe it's me, but absolutely no gain in distance.
what no link?
Lets compare it to the Nitro next time 😂
We need to see full speed numbers.
Actually kind of impressive that it mostly lived up to the expectations set.
Simple if you can't putt, it's all show.
What makes them illegal? Did I miss that part of the video?
'Im 76, GHIN 14. I played the MG Senior a lot last summer and gave them to many men and women of equal or better skill.. ALL players gained a minimum 0f 15-20 yards. Of course when attempting to qualify for the US Open, I switched to a USGA approved ball. "You're welcome". =. ) B. Watson.
PS: Canadian glaciers move faster than my swing.
I know a lot of seniors that are gonna play any ball they find onthe course cause they know it don't make a crap ha😂
In addition, the MG balls are much cheaper!
How do they feel?
What makes them illegal?
OMG…😅
Just play the forward tees and save your money.
I tried these balls and they do not perform any better than other balls. For the price, the "Nitro Whiteout" is a much better ball.
Flubber ?
Whatever u still got to hit the shot and the distance whatever if u need a s 7 iron or a 6 iron and u gotta make a putt or two putts or three putts or even 20 putts is called relax and have a nice day at the golf course the ball is just a fraction of the game brother be nice and respect ur elders Lol ❤😂😊
MG? Is that short for Miagra? 😂
😂
If it was ‘’scientific’’, you would be using an Iron Byron.
I’m t this measuring on simulator actually precise? Aren’t those balls that much different that they behave differently even for the rest of the flight not just few first meters?
Must try for my wife!
👌👌👌👌
Now hit that ball at your normal swing speed.
Why is MG non conforming?
It's hotter off the clubface.
You should test the Bridgestone e9 against both these balls
The e9 is for long distance and is legal
So here is the thing that UA-camrs are missing. Yes you will lose 15yrds if you swing the club at 125. No you won't lose 15 yards if you swing at 85-90. A Pro hits 320. At 85-90 the average golfer hits 210 and will therefore only lose about 5yrds, which although annoying, is not the end of the world
The “ AVERAGE “ senior golfer is not swinging 85-90. More 65-70.
I am , 68. @.85 to 93 club speed.
@@jackwest5295 Note : “ AVERAGE “
You're right. I'm 75 and my clubhead speed is 67. I can still compete with others in my club. Simple. Learn to hit it straight and forget about distance. Straight beats long every day of the week. And twice on Sundays.
So corporate scrambles go to the cheaters. Just great!
Someone told me that if you put oil on the face of a driver, you will hit the ball straighter and longer....Any truth to that, would be fun to test that out.
Oil will work, so will vaseline.
It works in the same way as a "professional" punch. An amateur will pull back immediately after impact. Likewise, a "clean" golf hit means that the ball almost immediately leaves the face.
A pro fighter will leave the punch in contact for just a few milliseconds longer, which allows time for the shockwave to penetrate more, giving a harder hit.
Likewise, if you vaseline the club face, it allows just a couple more milliseconds for the shockwave to react with the ball, resulting in higher ball speed. The tiny difference in weight distribution from the substance that transfers to the ball plus the initial "stickiness" reduces spin drastically; so if your club path would normally have caused slice or hook from the spin angle, a lot of that is mitigated, resulting in far less cross spin and a straighter shot.
@@theorc9098 This also works with ChapStick. But don't forget, it is cheating.
What makes the golf ball illegal??? It’s weight and size are legal
Thanks
Most golfers would benefit playing a softer two or three piece ball anyway. Most golfers should never play the prov1x. The newer one is even harder for the pros that have faster swing speeds. I don't even like the x anymore now that they are harder and I have above average speed. I'm not fast enough to play the x. Always get fit even for your ball.
Yeah, I've got about 5 dozen found Prov1x in my collection. Can't use them because with my lower swing speed it's like hitting rocks. Regular Prov1 are OK though, and the AVX are a great choice too.
What
Scientific? ok
Not true, yes it’s just a untrue claim.
Hmmm.... just turned 71....
Intbut why is it non conforming
Why illegal ? That would had been rational to hear about. Longest maybe but we don’t care seriously.
B
ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH "POLY MAX EXTREMES" ?? It's a clear plastic used to protect glass BUT also comes as an illegal USGA non compliant face cover for irons and driver which remove spin and add - they claim up to 25 yards per driver swing.
Let's see you pair these together in a video please. I've seen videos of illegal balls, illegal clubs, the poly Max product ( goes on just like the instructional tape). Anyway, please hit the MG'S with the poly max. Very scientific!
And besides I don't play with youngsters cause they think they know it all😊u never know what can happen on a golf course
