In this video we went riding and we raced Richie's Harley-Davidson Road Glide 117 Stage IV against my Indian Challenger Stage 1 with the 2-1 Rickey Graffeo exhaust, stage 1 intake and power commander 5. Richies and my dyno sheets are included in the video for you to review. Richies Harley Davidson Road Glide 117 Stage 4 put 120hp and 120tq to the rear wheel while my 2020 Indian Challenger Darkhorse puts out 117hp and 123tq. I just found out about the challenger yesterday. I ride a 2019 Ducati monster 1200s. I went to the Indian store and road one. I want one. I’m getting the challenger for myself and the bobber for my wife

I just took a challenger for a ride today . Mean bike !real good handling , braking, plenty of power ! Delivering better engine performance than the harley after the Harley mods . Both cool bikes I’d be more than happy with either 🤙🏻

yo, thats crazy. i sold my road star warrior for a victory high ball. i wanted the 6-speed. then driving in chicago last summer got stuck in 94 degrees for three hours on interstate. Now i have the challenger and i love it.

While I’m obviously an Indian fan I like Harley’s just as much. I like a lot of bikes but those two are definitely my favorite brands.

@@IndianChallengerRiders it's for me not that easy as you see it. 4 years ago I traded in my previous BMW K 1600 GT for the Springfield. Had that brand new Bimmer just for a year and it wasn't my bike. The K 1600 has even a lot more power than the Challenger has. What I like at the Challenger, it seems for me the Challenger is the result, what comes out if you put my Springfield and the K 1600 in a Mixer! :-).....But again, I'm still thrilled with the classic design of my Springfield with the skirted fenders and that beautiful cylinders of the Thunder Stroke engine, which I would rather name "Cathedrals" than cylinders:-)......Regards Bro

I loved the interactions among the riders.
I took a challenger Ltd for a test ride today. First of all Indian has done a nice design job, the challenger in blue was sharp. I rode my 09 Street glide to the Indian dealer and it was amusing to see 5 other Harleys parked in front. Anyway I love all bikes, I've been riding for over 40 years, my last non HD was a 2008 Yamaha FZ 1000, so I'm not a Harley only guy. The Indian wins the following: Indian is significantly more powerful, suspension is better, shifting is so quiet compared to HD, the adjustable windshield is great and its nice in curves but tbh so is my SG. SG wins when moving at very slow speeds and changing lanes on the highway, the SG sounds and looks better( just my opinion). Its not fair to Indian because I only rode the challenger for 20 mins, I've had my bike since 09 so riding my SG is second nature. I won't be switching to Indian yet but they are making it harder to choose when the time comes to buy a new bagger. The Indians are def worth checking out before you buy your next bagger.

Great Video Man... Challenger is the ONLY Bike on my Radar... On my Victory the 110mph speed limiter only applies to 6th gear... In 5th gear it will run much faster than in 6th... Don't know if that applies to Challenger. Safe Travels Man.

Be interesting when Harley puts their liquid cooled V twin in one of their road bikes. It’s only 76 ci so maybe a bigger version for the baggers. At 150 HP if it lost 10 percent to drivetrain it would still be 135 HP to the wheel so it should go. Also would have been cool to see how Indian’s top dog air cooled v twin motor, what is it a stage 3 116ci compared.
I have a 2019 stage 3 114ci Harley Sport Glide. The softail that comes with the quick detach small fairing & bags. EPA compliant pipe & tune to retain warranty. It only dynoed at 116/116 to the wheel but is also 100 pounds lighter than MoCo’s touring bikes. Harley’s SE tuner limits it to displayed 122 mph. So the dealership mech installed a speedo on off switch. Tach fuel gauge etc all still works but when switched off the only speedo I have is my GPS. This might be a helpful work around for you. The tuner does not see it so no auto warranty loss.
Stock gearing on the softails is too tall for emissions & fuel economy. So I lowered it from the 2.79 final drive ratio to a 3.15 which I have since learned is too low for optimum use of the engines power. That it should be around 2.96 to spend the most WOT time in the motor’s sweet spot between max torque & max HP.
Anyway the bike accelerates hard to 140 mph then stops like it hit a wall where ramping drag & falling torque collide. It’s fallen below the torque required to overcome drag at a higher speed. This was 5,800 rpms on mine. HP rises to 6,200 but is irrelevant in top gear without sufficient torque to overcome the drag. With optimum gearing it should already be producing enough torque to go 144 mph and due to sweet zone efficiency little to no rate of acceleration loss. With the stock gearing likely a less or the same top speed at the current power output but definitely with a rate of acceleration loss.
Thing is when I fix the gearing come winter & post warranty I will also up the displacement power & torque so I won’t prove the math. At 150/150 it will easy go 150 mph plus which is honestly too fast for the bikes suspension & aerodynamics even on a calm day smooth surface. So it will mostly be for improved acceleration & bragging rights. Horsepower-itis, a non cure-able disease but easily treatable with money.

I'm doing the fuel moto 128 this winter on my RGU. 😁 If Harley/Indian didn't have to deal with EPA Both bikes would be putting out 150/150.

Never bury money trying to make a Harley davidson fast. No matter how much money you throw down the hole its always gonna be slow and overheat in traffic.
I would pick the Indian all day, but those weren't fair races. They both need to start at the same mph and than time the take off by counting down or honking the horn.

Install a Power Commander fuel tuner on your Challenger and have it dyno tuned and you will feel a very noticeable difference in throttle response vs the stage 1 tune.
My bike is tuned with a power commander 5 the dyno sheets are in the video watch the whole video brother!

I love it. Will take $10 grand for a Harley to catch the Challenger. Harley will release some bike to try and beat the challenger, but it will be $60K and the dealer will get two.

Update. New madmonkey bore kit installed. Waiting on ECM and pipe to over night and take a shot at this stage 4 117.
Go with the RVS ecm mail-in tune and your challenger will do 130+ mph!
117 SE stage 4 is a Pooch ! 124 aftermarket is were the power is at.

I think a Challenger with a 2 into 1 and a Power Commander and free flowing air filter could take a HD with the 131 kit from 0 to 100mph....this coming from a HD owner
@@bradlozano2571 I think you could be right. I have seen stock challengers getting smoked by the blah stage one challengers from indian. I imagine the s&s or the Roland sands tune will be absolutely crazy. The battle of the baggers showed what these things can do with just a tune and exhaust

I’m just happy with the passing power and the zippiness of it now. Running smoother and a little more oomph will be ok with me too. I would get an r1 if I wanted to do 10 second quarter miles 😂. I do hate the exhaust sound of it though. So sad when people

@@SaltyandSprinkles Just get ride of the CAT and the exhaust will sound fine....On my old Victory I got rid of the stage 1 slipons and put a full header...Bassini Pro Street Turnouts....And it would Roar....You could do something similiar with your Challenger

This is why you dont buy harley stage kits, and go with aftermarket stage kits.
The Harley stage 4 is a joke. If your buddy would have gone aftermarket, his bike would easily be over the 140HP/TQ mark. Even 10-15 more if he picked a hi lift cam. My 107 with just an aftermarket cam swap and pipes makes about the same numbers as your friend for like 3-4K less.
