- The 2024 Harley Road Glide vs the 2024 Indian Challenger Dark Horse is a tough comparison because all of the changes in this year's Road Glide are alot and the Indian Challenger is the best Indian in the lineup. So I took both bikes and went through every change, difference, feature and pricing and will tell you which one I like the best and why.

A few things the Indian still has over the new HD. Quick locking bags, fully liquid cooled engine, power windshield, better front suspension and more travel, better rear suspension and more travel, one oil, much better sound system. HD finally stepped up their game but they are still in the shadows of Indian. Just wait until next year when the Indian moves to the 112ci engine. Can you say “Rocketship”?

As a person who rides a 1947 Knucklehead and a 1998 heritage springer. I cant tell you how amusing it is to hear people argue about 50% more suspension travel, power windshields and louder speakers, and inverted front ends, Geez, is this the new age rebellious sound of freedom that drew me to the sound of an American V-twin? Turn the radio down, hit the open road, feel the wind as you race down the road, listen to the thunderous drums of the cylinders while the fuel and air are exploding underneath you, and enjoy all the sights and smells of the open road, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Come on guys!!!!!
Honestly it's pretty annoying with how much of these "special" add ons and what not people go crazy for. I have a 2016 Indian Springfield which has nothing (which I love) but cruise control. We bought bikes to enjoy the ride, not have essentially a worse version of a car
Absolutely agree! I don’t have either of those bikes but I don’t have a fairing or windshield.
I love it on long rides and appreciate not having a radio or phone.
Have features or not, it’s all about the ride and not like these youtubers try to make click-points about even false winning points for actually worse solutions which in the end don’t matter anyway. A 90s HD is still one of the best cross-continent tourers and local rides, just as you like. I own a new bike, but a bunch of old, too (Laverda, Velocette, KTM). There’s no new bike making you have more fun than any old, reliability was there since the seventies, latest the 80s. None of the HorseS of today is necessary, but dealers make you think that way, as they don’t repair anymore, only go and demand parts-nos, can’t do without… suggesting only new bikes will be served.
I would like to have especially knucklehead, and I would like to have EVO engine springer, I am not that rich, lucky you. But I enjoy my Indian RM electric screen, because I usually ride a sportbike zx14r. Was very windy weather, and I took windshield down for 1 inch, amazing effect, no wind blowing to affect bike speed at all. I like that feature.

You wanna talk about the Indian issues that ARENT just software issues? How about the fork leaks that are "normal" or the belts that half of them squeal like a pig. Or how about the older thunderstroke where they used PLASTIC OIL PUMP GEARS because kawasaki failures in the 90s weren't enough to tell them that was a really dumb idea. Which btw I've got a buddy whose bike blew up because of them. I like both, but get over yourself. New platforms are gonna have issues regardless of brand. When the new challengers come out I'm sure they will have addressed a bunch of their little issues along with ride command problems and I'll be looking at one hard.
@@Axle-7 I’ve never had any of those issues, although I’m sure that that have existed. I put more than 50,000 miles on a chieftain in less than four years, 15,000 miles on my pursuit in a summer and I’m hitting 10,000 miles on my challenger since the start of November (spoiler alert, I live and work in Dubai and own a place in central Illinois where I spend my summers) and haven’t had any of those issues.
I don’t doubt that some Hegshot’s issues were down to teething problems of first year models, but I haven’t had any of the issues that you e described. Perhaps Indian fixed those issues?
@HarrisBinUAE oil pump gears were on the thunderstroke which has since been updated, but it's such a stupid design I can't believe they ever did it. The belt squeal is a design flaw and is hit and miss. Some do and some don't even the new ones. Same with the fork leaks, they claim all inverted forks do it, which is untrue. As far as I know the ride command issues are still there but I could be wrong. Just last summer my buddy had to trailer his bike cross country because he completed an iron butt one way and then his bike quit because of software issues. As far as I know they still haven't fixed the adjustable windshield issue either. Of 4 friends I know with challengers, 3 have had them fail, one of them twice. One of the 4 has been lucky and hasn't had any of the issues I've mentioned in the roughly 15-20k he's put on his bike. I'm not saying at all that they make bad bikes but they're nowhere near without their issues. I'll be looking for another bike likely in about 3 years. I'm hoping by then they have released the 2nd iteration challenger and addressed these issues as well as significantly expanded their dealer network. For someone who does a good amount of touring, the dealer network alone is a big reason I've not given them serious consideration yet. Anything man made can break, full stop. I don't want to have to tow hundreds of miles to find a dealer that might not have parts.
@@Axle-7just gonna act like the sumping and crankcase ventilation wasn’t an issue on the M8 for years? I live within 20 minutes of an Indian dealer, and I can tell you they have a hard time keeping stock. (Lucky Indian doesn’t do what the MoCo does with shipping bikes trying to inflate demand) I talk to a lot of people that have Indians (mostly challengers and chieftains) and one of them has had an issue with ride command (more so the Bluetooth reliability than the RC itself) Haven’t heard one person complain about an issue with the power windshield, except it isn’t as rigid as they’d like.
Oh, and I don’t take my bike (street glide) to the dealer unless I absolutely have to. Some local shops I’d much rather support.
@RiderTalkHQ-vu5mh everybody knows the oil pumps from 17-20 had issues. Find where I said Harleys were perfect. I live 5 minutes from both dealers and both of them always have plenty of stock, our Indian dealer isn't having "a hard time keeping stock". I personally know multiple indian owners. Do some looking online, they used plastic gears for the windshield so they tend to strip. It's a common enough issue that there are aftermarket billet ones available. One buddy had his 33k mile chieftain blow up because indian thought it was a good idea to use PLASTIC OIL PUMP GEARS. And another had to tow his bike half way cross country after it wouldn't start after an iron butt due to a software issue. I'm not saying indian makes bad bikes. I will likely be interested in a challenger when they refresh it. I'm saying the guys beating their chest and acting like they're so much more reliable are full of shit and posturing. Both have their issues but seems the indian guys feel the need to justify their purchases by claiming perfection. You bought the bike you liked better, as you should. Don't try to justify it to others/yourself with falsehoods.
Its impossible for you to be unbiased. You have spent time with Harley corporate, went to Las Vegas testing. Like the others present there, once home you purchased a 24 Harley Davidson perhaps even with a incentivized deal. Harley sent you parts for your new bike. Even when your new bike has been giving you issues it was a soft critique.That being said, being unbiased is truly impossible. Personally I was quite happy to see had been selected to be there, you have clearly earned it through the content you have tirelessly produced.
I am totally agree with that opinion. HD is using that kind of "undercover" marketing nowadays, giving cheaper bikes to bloggers. I like different bikes but I hate if honest opinion is paid.

@@rainkaru1946 Nailed it. HD is invested heavily in social media. All of the youtubers I always enjoyed watching, most of which are HD guys, now seem like a Harley infomercial. HD even pays youtube to push pro Harley videos. Fake news. Lol.
You failed to mention a major advantage that the Challenger has over the Road Glide, and that is an option for remote rear suspension adjustment. With this option, the rear suspension preload is adjusted electronically from the touchscreen. That is a huge advantage, especially when switching from one up to two up riding.
That's only standard on the Pursuit but it can be added to the challenger. But definitely and advantage.
I own a 19 RGS and a 19 Indian Chieftain Icon Limited, I do like the raising windshield, when up makes riding in cold weather so much nicer.
TBH as someone who is deciding between the two, it really seems like a bias review. You didn't even mention that you have to remove the hard bags on the Harley to adjust the shocks manually and discounted just about everything Indian does better and ignored the real world pricing.
Harley has defiantly done some much needed improvements on their Road Glide. With that being said they still wont get my money over Indian when it comes to me making my next motorcycle purchase. I worked for HD for quite a few years as a senior tech and loved the Road Glide. I swore it would be my next bike. That was until I test rode the Indian Challenger and it gave me everything that I've wanted from a performance touring motorcycle right off the showroom floor minus the sissy bar and luggage rack, which no company offers standard on their new touring bikes. The fact that so many people are having issues with these brand new 2024 models tells me that Harley isn't doing any actual testing on their bikes and are letting their customers do it for them and if they break down oh well.....
So looks like competition is the best but each upgrade you mentioned indian already had. You sounded like a person that only loves Harley but was upset Indian had all the bells and whistles and when Harley brings in all that Indian already had you go “see Harley is better now”

So good video but if your intention was to be neutral I felt it was bias. Also the way you talked about the new Harley features are great then say well indian already been doing this for years doesn’t look good for Harley.

I'd love to hear the maintenance cost bullshit that everyone likes to bring up. I've got 3 Harleys and I've NEVER had to do shit but oil changes and tires. And when I've ordered parts to help buddies, it's never any more than my wife's victory or my old metrics. He pretty clearly said a large part of it was aesthetic. Sounds like you are just as bias and want to be mad at him for it

@billyjo316 and most of them didn't spend much time on metrics to realize prices aren't much better. I've owned more metrics than Harleys over the years. It's also usually the guys who don't ride much and their bikes sit around a ton that have more issues.
I'm not saying parts are cheap, they're never gonna be super cheap on niche items like motorcycles. But it's no more than parts for other bikes I've owned. With the added benefit that even for older models you can usually get those parts same day.
When comparing the bikes you should start by comparing similar bikes if you want to be or at least sound unbiased. The entry or base model of the Indian Challenger is (as @robertopod1968 said) $26499.00 and the base Harely is $25999.00 which is of course is $500.00 cheaper than the Indian. The base 2024 Indian Challenger: remote locking bags, power windshield, shocks that do not require you to remove either bag to adjust, adjustable closeouts in the fairing, 122 HP stock, and a few other I may be forgetting. With that said the new Road Glide and Street Glides are nice looking bikes.
Terrible comparison. First off. Challenger is $26,499. Didn’t happen to mention that the Indian also has 50% more travel in the rear suspension than the new “improved” Roadglde. More power, better suspension, power locking bags. Power windscreen is something people say they don’t care about until they have one. Then you’ll never want to be without it. Indian is the clear winner.
Must not have seen the sticker on the front of that challenger that said “2024, $33,749”
@@donavonsmith3394 that’s not the base model. He’s comparing a HD base price against the Indian upper level trim price. Base price to base price the Indian is $500 more. But has thousands of dollars more of everything also.

I’m watching this video and thinking, this dude made a video a couple days ago saying his road glide had serious issue. And now goes I’m not biased but I will only by a bike where it’s not necessarily designed for you. Hence the tank being too wide at the crotch and visible leg spread. Plus it looks uncomfortable. Your own words. It is uncomfortable unless you’re doing short rides. Leg position all that jazz. Dude!! Just admit you’re a Harley fan boy that wants to sound like you are giving Indian a fair shake. If that were the case you would have bought the Indian over the Harley. Just based off comfort alone. All the other things you are mentioning are just Harley dude crap.
I’m a diehard Harley owner, until recently (20+ Yrs). I like your reviews, but you’re incredibly biased to Harley. My 2024 Indian Pursuit Darkhorse runs circles around the Road Glide. Harley has to increase the motor size, in order to attempt to come close to Indian’s numbers, and they still cannot. I’ll never return to Harley. This Indian is everything I’ve been looking for and more. I should’ve made the switch years ago. Safe riding!
I had two Valkyries a bagger and a chopped down one they're all cool bikes I like all of them but I just bought about 3 days ago 2021 Indian Challenger Limited in the ruby metallic color what an awesome bike I never had a bike to have that much technology on it and it fast I've had fast bikes for for some weird reason when I left I didn't know it was in sport mode and I burned rubber out of the driveway and I didn't mean to and then I played with everything and when I stopped and you know put it on all three and I left it in standard and even their it wants to jump and it's fast the bike but I leave it in standard everything I almost bought a brand new 2024 Road Glide and for the money and without the options that were on it and the windshield that goes up and down and everything else I'm glad that I didn't buy that I bought a used 2021 Indian but it's like brand new it's sweet and it was half the price
So I don't know which one's better yet but like I said I've had other Harleys my friends had Harleys he had bought a blacked out fat boy and it was really nice converted it to 117 before they put the standard 117 in there probably about 6 years ago and it started leaking oil from the top of the head and on the bottom of the cylinder I'm going to cost $20,700 to get it fixed so he just traded it in and he's getting a Challenger
So all this tech yet one of the most important things, the suspension is all mechanical and crappy.
Why these top of line bikes don’t have electronic suspension absolutely blows my mind.
FYI on my 2023 Challenger 85 mph I only have two speakers in the Fairing and I can hear just perfectly and that's with the windshield and the lowest position

can you use your cardo with the bike? Or do you need the harley branded cardo? I am not having luck getting my 23 ST to function with my cardo or sena. I DO need to get WHIM though and I have Android... maybe apple works better? I want to be able to listen to music off my phone into the cardo and make calls all while using the bikes controls. I don't want to mess with my physical phone

I’m still for analogue gauges and maybe a bit of a tech screen. As for maps and tunes Apple car play is easier for me with the Lexin headset on my Harley.

We can thank Indian for pushing HD to catch up and in some aspects “bumping” ahead. I find the the debate fun to watch as we are all biased. We watch these videos hoping Heg will validate the opinions we already hold. Soon, Indian will refine the Challenger and the circle of life continues and truly unbiased consumers can benefit. I got my 24 RG, white/blk and my dealer cut $1,100 cdn off msrp. (But they do charge for pdi, doc fees, freight so adding it all up is more important than msrp)
Well, I gave you a good review on your video about the problems you were having with your road glide saying that you are not bought and paid for by HD but now I’m seriously doubting that. I watched all those videos of you guys out in Las Vegas and all of you top gun, so-called UA-cam celebrities, and everyone of you are doing the exact same thing. It looks like I may have been wrong in saying you are not paid for.
They probably got huge discounts on their HDs or more than that.
You nailed it about the rough ride the Rushmore bikes have. I had a 15 RGS. I was extremely frustrated after spending well over 5 grand on various aftermarket suspension upgrades for it. Test rode an Indian Chieftain and was blown away by the ride quality in the stock suspension. The 50 percent gain in travel HD and a lot of the influencers are pushing sounds a lot better than one inch, lol. This is one of the areas HD should have focused on a bit better than they did. Yes, remote locking bags are a nice feature, including the windshield on the Indian, but your argument about a bulker fairing is weak. The Chieftains have motorized windshields as well, and their fairings are comparable to that of the SG. Harley probably knew they'd be ridiculed for copying Indian if they did this. All that being said, both are great bikes.
So you say the Roadglide better becuase it has several options that are close to the Indian but not quite there. Also on long rides you would really appreciate that windshield being adjustable... Bugs, rain, heat and going from highway speeds to city it's nice to let more air hit ya.

It’s an option on the 24 Pursuit that I just had installed. A little pricey, but well worth it. My dealership was happy to offer a nice discount. After 20+ yrs of several different Harley’s, my Pursuit is far superior in so many ways.

I own a 2023 Indian Challenger and I like the looks better of the Harley-Davidson Road Glide for 24. Not the other years but having said that I like the infotainment system better on the Indian Challenger my screen is so much closer to me because of how they configured the handlebars
If you want to buy a Harley, buy a Harley. Don’t justify it by twisting yourself into knots trying to justify why you bought it. I like the looks of the new Harley, because it looks so much like my Indian, but that’s me.
Saying that the power windscreen on the challenger adds complications is true, but I’ve never had a single problem in more than 50,000 miles on a chieftain, 15,000 miles in a single summer on my pursuit and and no problems on my challenger. So yes, technically true, but why frame it like that and why then turn around later and praise the windscreen.
If you’re serious about being a performance bagger you’ll want inverted forks. Regardless of what Harley did when they “redesigned” the forks, they’re not inverted and thus not as good in the twisties. Then there is the massive monoshock on the challenger, which enables much better tracking through curves. And of course the Indian has the electrically adjustable preload, which I own on both my Pursuit and my challenger and which enables precise adjustments to the suspension. No wrench needed. Harley, not so much.
And unlike your new bike, I’ve had my challenger for 4 months, have ridden it for more than 10,000 miles and haven’t had to take it to the dealer for I don’t know how many times to get the bike to run properly. Just sayin’.
One thing I do like about the a Harley is the switch gear and the new infotainment screen. Neither would make me want to switch out to a Harley, but I do appreciate the new system and the new switch gear.
I like the look of the Indian they did good with their look after Harley did it first just saying.
Now Harley new design looks even better best-looking bike yet! My opinion.

I see people in my 2023 cvo Facebook group some traded in their Indians for coil problems others electric. Glad you were a lucky one! Alot were not
I see some mention if its real cold check engine light comes on , but if you start it turn it off and restart it fast it won't happen lol.
All bikes can and will have some crappy quality control.
I have 4500 miles with no issues others have over 10,000 miles.
Also, I would rather not have electric shocks something I have seen fail on some Indians.
Give me a set of adjustable cans in the back I am good. I will add Ollins adjustable to my inverted shocks call it a day!
Hopefully someday Indian will have options like Harley does.
Have More than 2 cams and almost no options so every Indian making power has the same lyods tune that need a certain 2-1 pipe to give you the power they claim.
Competiton is good for us consumers whatever bike we decide to buy.
I think the new road glide fairing is really nice. And I also like the new lights, which I think are very cool. Ultimately, I don’t really care about the Harley vs Indian debate. If you want a Harley you should buy one. If you want an Indian you should buy one. Neither machine is perfect and all machines can break down. I haven’t had a cold start issue at all. My challenger is having it and this will be handled under warranty at my next service. But it’s a drag. For sure.
I have the stage one and stage 2 upgrades on my pursuit and no upgrades on the challenger. It’s going to take time for various after market players to produce products for Indian, but things are coming along. To be honest I am not really that worried about it: My Pursuit is used primarily for touring; I have two trips scheduled this summer; one that is greater than 4,500 miles and one that is about 3,500 miles. Stage one and two are great for passing cars and trucks, but full loaded or empty this thing isn’t going to break any track records at COTA. It’s nice to be able to say you have the fastest bike in the ‘hood, but in the real world I’m good with what I have.
Don’t be so quick to knock the suspension. It’s an amazing product and I have it on the challenger and the pursuit. The bikes track beautifully through the curves… not that I’m going to see any records.

First after watching your other video on the issues with the new RG, sorry you had to go through that misery. I chased electrical gremlin with my new 2019 RM as well which turned out to be a single wire connection left partially unplugged! So do dam frustrating! I like the changes HD has made and the water cooled heads is the biggest change of note in my opinion. My current RM is air cooled but my next bike will be a water cooled Pursuit. Good luck with the RG.

I own a Harley and I think you are bias, which is fine… I’ve tried both brands and I think not just the power and electronics and looks and all that… Indian motorcycle for some reason rides much better…
I’m pretty sure he says he is an ambassador for Harley Davidson in a later video. Regardless, there’s obvious bias. Not comparing apples to apples on pricing…etc. you could tell from the start who would win lol. That’s totally fine if you like Harley…just don’t try to say you’re impartial while you clearly not.

Congratulations on the new bike! Lovely machine! The fairing looks very good on the 2024 Road Glide. I've kind of been waiting for this comparison for quite some time. I think your points are good. I understand your choices. Good and balanced comparison between two fantastic machines. Which of these bikes is really the performance bagger? I do not know. I think they should be ridden on the track (stock) to find this out. Which one you prefer will be personal taste, but Harley-Davidson has produced a machine that means that Indian Motorcycle does not rule the performance grounds alone. Considering that Harley-Davidson's machine will have childhood illnesses for a couple of years...But by then the Challenger will be updated so.... It comes down to what you prefer. What is right for you. I still think the Indian Challenger would be my choice. Thanks for the video! Ride safe!
He really didn’t compare them at all. Everything was. Harley improved this and that. Other than he is short and likes the handlebars being back more on the Roadglide. Well. That’s based on a persons build. He said Harley improved rear travel by 50%! But failed to say it’s still only 3”. Not 4.5 like in the Indian. Not a mention of being able to adjust the suspension preload electronically on the Indian. Yeah. Taking the bag off and using a wrench you might or might not have on you is better. Better than the old road glide yes. But still behind what’s been available for over 4 years! Swing and a giant miss HD.
I own a challenger DH 23 and I am also a SG 23 owner. I decided I would trade my SG for the new RG because of everything I heard about the improved suspension. I’ll cut to the chase. The price being quoted for a 24 RG is BS. Nothing below 30+ k walking out the door and the windshield is non existent. Suspension is improved but not as good as stock challenger. I still worked up an offer to buy the 24 RG but when the out the door price was proposed at 2 different dealerships…the cost was not as a efficient as it was made out to be and it made more sense to add improved shocks to my 23 SG. I love my Harley as much as I do my Indian, but to say Harley has caught up in inaccurate in my opinion. The ride is still better on the 23 challenger DH. Also the Indian seem to have better power delivery in my opinion. I’ve put my money where my mouth is for both motorcycles makers. Live both my bikes but Indian makes the overall best bagger in my opinion.
I like both bikes but I’m a Harley Guy till I die. I don’t like that small front fender or those short bags on the 24 though
It is in my opinion. Buy whichever bike you would like possibly going to have some problems with whatever you buy. I personally sold after 20 years of riding gold wings and switch to an Indian pursuit. My gold wings were all fabulous motorcycles. But I love my Indian pursuit if you choose to buy any other bike that’s up to you. I don’t care what you ride . Let’s ride. I do, however wonder how Harley is selling their new motorcycles for less money than previous models . I don’t like the possibilities that are showing up in my head.

Ha! You use Volunteer Audio too. I think we all do. The biggest negative with the Challenger is the engine noise. I really don’t like the sound.
Quick fact check. Not sure where he is getting his pricing from, per the HD website, base model is $25,999. Base model Indian Challenger $26,499. Any addon's are obviously going cost more, both only offer 1 color at that price, blacked out is a premium for both, etc.
I think the Indian would be a better buy for so many reasons.
Android auto didn't stop supporting motorcycle applications. Apple said if you want our software, you must only use us exclusively for 4 to 5 years depending on their contract. Android had nothing to do with it.

16 lbs shaved off the new Harley is an engineering marvel and a big deal.
I'm impressed they actually updated suspension to the point that one doesn't have to buy a new bike and immediately purchase 3rd party suspension. I like the new screen.
I only have a couple concessions (both related to windshield) with this new Harley . Looking at it, I feel they just decide not to put a windshield on at all. There is no way that shield does anything for the rider.
Secondly, power windshields have been standard equipment on other touring brands as far back as 2008 maybe farther.
Realize this , every single manufacturer of a touring oriented bike offers a power windshield. Indian, now defunct Victory, BMW, yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda.
You can't tell me ALL those manufacturers (maybe more that I cant think of) thought it worthwhile to offer such an innovative feature and Harley still refuses?
The only people that say a power shield isn't a big deal are people that haven't spent 25,000 plus miles a year with one.

Very interesting video, I also have ridden the Harley which I found still has the clunky gearbox, the dealer offered to knock £4000 of the retail if I bought it today, however as soon as I saw the new 2024 Indian Challenger Elite in candy black I just had to buy ones delivery next week. I think Hegshot has Harley Davidson written all over himself and is clearly very biased.

Harley gives you more for the money now, but they actually raised the base price for a Road Glide. That means they didnt lower the price, they just offer more. Big difference there. Cheaper features, but the price raised. I know you listed the Dark Horse price, but you compared it to regular Road Glide prices. Regular 2024 Challenger prices are around $27k, which is practically the same as the Glide. Plenty of people at my local HD dealer are spending $30k+ on new Glides out the door, so the prices are way more comparable than you made it seem. You may get some better features on the new HD's, but the Challenger still offers better engine performance and arguably better reliability

Yeah I was a little lost on the performance bagger comment too, and I'm a harley guy. Indian has killed it in that aspect, they came in early on in that game and the challenger is easily the best out of the box performance bagger, at least til 24 as I haven't ridden 24 Harleys yet. Though I think I'd argue the reliability comment you made. The new ones are having software issues that I'm sure will be remedied before the end of the year. But other than that, all 3 of mine have been solid. My buddy left his old Indian challenger after 2 years. Leaking forks that were "normal" belt drive that squeeled like a pig, 2nd stripped windshield gear (have a couple friends with that issue) and he went back to harley. Another was on a long road trip and had to haul his 1 year old challenger back cross country because of a software issue. That's not to say harleys don't have issues, but I don't think Indians are head and shoulders above by any means. I really hope they make a second iteration of the challenger in the next couple years and improve on those issues, I would seriously consider one. For those of us that ride alot of miles, the small dealer network scares me. I've never had my harley break on the road, but I know if it did, I'd be able to find parts within about 50 miles of anywhere instead of having to ruin a trip for hundreds of miles to the next dealer and hoping they have the parts.
I own a 2023 Challenger Dark Horse and a 2023 Fast Johnnie Road Glide ST… my basic opinion is that the Indian is bigger and more comfortable for a person who is 6’3” tall with a 33-34 inseam., the Road Glide is smaller and you sit closer to the tank ( I opted for a Saddleman StepUp +1), the bars on the Harley are a bit low.. but the difference is the Harley feels more like a Sport Bike, even thought the Harley has less horsepower than the Indian. The Harley that is set up perfect for me with the exception of the floor boards is the CVO/ST…. That Marathon NEEDS to get the Flag swapped out for a new one, it is in bad shape.
Seems you somehow forgot to mention a lot of the Indians features. Starting with 50% more rear suspension travel, 4.5” vs 3” is a huge difference. Then there’s the convenience and ultimate ride of the electronically adjustable Fox shock from the dash screen! The new Harley is nice but your bias shows.
Good luck with the Indian in cold weather; 2 riding brothers have late Indians and both have had significant electrical problems in the cold.

I have 2021 Challenger base and its power delivery and suspension is still better than the RG. I really still love the fairing design of the Challenger. I think it has a little more muscle to it but……. opinions are like assholes, Everybody has one and everybody is one. 😂😂😂
I love the redesign of the inner Fairing of the new road glides absolutely beautiful screen, but the rest of the plastic looks fairly cheap. Nice design being able to get to the risers and adjust your handlebars.
I would be a little worried about everything being on a touchscreen, but it looks great.
Indian better kick it up a few notches which I’m sure they will, the competition is fun to watch.
No doubt the Harley is a great value

The new style RG looks like an Indian. Indians still look huge and bulky .
I personally don't like these new style RG even the CVO & CVO ST .
Everything at the end of the day is personal preference. You should get what you like and no one had a stock bike. You can customize either bike to be better than any bike out there.
I always say Harley-Davidson only makes small and medium size motorcycles. When you're over 6 ft it's much more comfortable on something bigger. I think the biggest bagger is the victory Magnum which I ride. Close is the Indian chieftain.

I enjoyed your review. Thank you. As I daydream about which touring bike I want to add to my stable These are the two that I’m thinking of. What bothers me about the Harley is those high ape type handlebars from the looks of it it would seem like you would get fatigued, riding with your arms so high up. I have to get to the dealer and sit on the bike but overall I love the new look of the Road glides tank the fairing and the infotainment is gorgeous. It’s funny it was only a couple years ago where Indian was the cats meow with their system. Now it looks dated. Indians Great, it has some nifty features that still topped the Harley however, Harley is still the king in my book and when I’m ready we’ll get my check for $30,000 👍

Harley still have design aesthetic issues, those headlights are improved but still pale in comparison to the nice Indian design wrap LED. This is my opinion just on looks alone not performance.

Interesting. I love both brands. Indian is better on tech and value for money in general I think. Harley is better on fit and finish, community and sporty cruisers. Ultimately it's up to your individual preferences.

What I find hilarious is for people that always say why don’t HD just got to liquid cool they are behind but one thing I always try to ask what cools the liquid are coolant AIR period whether it’s a fan are going down the road all it is AiR for any coolant it’s not much different in air cooled are water cooled in heat especially with displacement size is the biggest thing but AIR cools it all period
I'm opposite on the bars. I luv the bars on my Road King. In fact, I'm 5'7" too and the ergonomics of the thing don't get any more perfect. I just bought a Heritage as the RK is getting to be too much for me with my wife on the back. Heritage is lower and lighter and easier for me with her aboard, but I am not a fan of the tall bars on it. If I'm not consciously hanging on, it feels like my hands will fall off the damn things.
I'm not crazy about the high tech displays as tech is liable to change and make those obsolete in a few years, but the Indian's got one too and between the two, the HD's looks loads better to me.
As to the windshield, once I find where I like it, I wouldn't move it anyway, so the extra motor is of no use to me, I just buy one that's the right size and Bob's your uncle. When I get too lazy to use a key to lock my saddlebags (which I almost never do anyway), just shoot me.
For now, the dealer network just makes the HDs more practical where I live, but if I lived near an Indian dealer, I could go that way too, but I'd get a Springfield.

Didn't watch the whole video, watching NASCAR but did you mention when you buy a Harley there is a dealer every 50 miles on the major freeways if you need anything along the way. Indian, good luck finding a Polaris dealer on your travels.

While I like the look of the Harley, when it comes to the Indian your comment regarding “letting the engine breathe” on the bike doesn’t hold water because it is liquid cooled.
Not to mention that Harley has a MUCH better dealer network. I love the Indian as well but if I were buying a brand new bike it would be a Harley simply because there are more dealers if case I have an issue on the road. For instance, the UP of Michigan has no Indian dealers. That’s a big issue given that’s a desirable place to ride.
The number of dealers being such a big deal to some is only something someone who rides bikes that break down often think much about. Yeah, it would be nice to have more dealers just in case, but I've ridden Polaris (Victory and Indian) for 18 years and done well over 80k on long trips (1-4k mile rides) and never needed one while traveling. Knock on wood.
@@mickcatheymaybe, but there’s more to the dealers than just being there if you need a repair. It’s also a nice rest stop. They cater to the riders, offer free water and a place to rest and and shoot the shit. Parties and events and things like that as well. I definitely don’t get a sense of fun and camaraderie when I’m in an Indian dealer.

I do enjoy some of that aspect of it, but it's pretty much a marketing scam (they obviously are trying to sell stuff). I would never buy a product because of free hot dogs (etc.).
Anyone actually researched why Harley doesn’t offer an electric wind screen? Because doing so would mean more motors and components. So you end up with a bulky mess like the Indian. The challenger has little or nothing over the 24 sg and rg at this point. It’s now on Indian to respond.
So you know as point of fact that the Challenger on Paper is superior to the Harley in every category, that being said as a 23 Challenger Darkhorse owner still bought a Fast Johnnie ST 2023… so it really depends on what you desire, now I have both.

If you start a long ride with a knot in your belly and butt cheeks so tightly clenched, wondering if you're gonna make it without the bike turning into a 1000 pound road ornament, yeah, that makes for a wonderful riding experience. No thanks, I'll stick with my enhanced 2013 Ultra Limited Electra Glide Special Anniversary Edition...Beautiful bike & beautiful ride. I like the new Road Glide, looks really cool and interestingly is a lot of Technology inside. And many optical similarities with the Challenger IMHO 😁..... BUT: All over sudden Harley can deliver something, what is in use in other motorcycle segments already for years as standard. Somehow Harley, as a segment monopolist, has been taking the piss out of its customers. Due to finally real competition with Indian they provide, hmm!? 😔..... Look at Ridingfish's video about the comparison between the new Road Glide and the Challenger, ......the real bargain is the Challenger, not the RG. ...Regards from a Springfield rider from Germany.

It didn't take listening for five minutes to figure out what the conclusion would be.
To me, no motorcycle is worth more than $20k. Other people can spend their pennies how they want, but I refuse to pay more.
As a 2024 Road Glide owner, I give the Challenger the advantage. Horsepower, suspension and the stereo system are better.
But, for me, It goes beyond nuts and bolts. For one thing, I’m a member of a well run local Harley Owners Group. Forget bikes, we have a great, well run social club. We even have one Indian rider as an associate member who takes part in our rides and other events. This is a major reason why when I bought a new bike this year, I stayed with HD
And, well, Harley is Harley. Hopper and Fonda weren’t riding Indians. And when Schwarzenegger said “I want your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle”, he rode away from the bar on a Harley. 😊

I was going to get the Challenger Scat Pack and I decided I already have a good car and I don't want to have two vehicles that I have to store so I thought I'll get the bike so I got a challenger it's just not a car next time maybe I'll get to I'll get the Scat Pack a used Scat Pack I don't know but this bike is awesome everybody

Anyone looking for a used Challenger should visit their local Harley dealer. Harley may be swamped with trade-ins for the new 2024. Same could be said for used RGs.
You made the right choice going with the Harley. Indian makes a great bike but it’s just not a Harley.
