One reason you may want to keep a Chest your character found, instead of instantly trading it in for a new ability card, is to trade it to a different character. I don't think that option will get used much but there may be a certain character you end up needing to improve more than others at some point. Cool series. I've had some fun with Darkest Night and always enjoy seeing other people's playthroughs too.
Also, at around 15:55, you decided to use the Scholar's Evade ability because a blight in that location gave a -1 Fight Dice and your ability only provided 1 Fight Die. However, you still get a minimum of 1 Fight Die due to Blight penalties. That's mentioned on the blight summary on the back of the manual for Unholy Aura (and Evil Presence regarding -1 Evasion). Just a heads-up. I've only played three games of DN but I've missed some things in each one, both for the good & bad. Like forgetting to raise my characters' Secrecy sometimes after they move. You were doing better than I have. Hopefully I can remember it all enough to be second nature soon.
You could also still use his +1 to the die roll, on the Scholar's attack power too since it's a direct die modifier. Just noticed that. Seems like that power is good for beating negative dice pool modifiers! Here I thought his puny 1 Die attack with +1 modifier was so-so.. now I see that it shines in such situations. :-)
Yeah, I enjoy the boardgame play through's more. Lots of folks do video game stuff. Not as many of us doing this. I will still do some video games when I come across something I really like or if they pertain to a board game.
