    In most instances when I sell a suppressor the combination/formula I follow pretty often is a AB Warthog (7.62) and a YHM R9. It just covers so many bases/platforms as no one really wants to be switching suppressors back and forth if they don't have to. If you simply understand that suppressed doesn't mean no hearing protection you will love all of your suppressors.

    YHM has been making good suppressors for decades. It was one of the brands i looked at when I was getting my first cans. But i didn't have any local dealers with them then. Nice, thanks for this video. My R9 is awaiting approval but it definitely seems like a great value. I grabbed their 5/8-24 mount so I can use it on my .243 hunting rifle and my Marlin 336. I found a barrel with 5/8-24 threads for my 9mm PCC so hopefully I should be able to easily swap between platforms. I'm gonna stick with direct thread for now. Agree with your comments on ear protection - I'm overly protective of my hearing these days and I double up on ear pro even when shooting at outdoor ranges. I have tinnitus most likely caused by playing drums without ear protection (we didn't know better in the 90s when I started) and I want to preserve what's left of my hearing!

    I looked at the R9 for a while but went with a Rex Silentium MG7k in 0.358. Big enough bore to clear my 357 Mag lever gun, no barrel length restrictions so I can use it with my 16" 358 Winchester, no caliber restrictions so I can use it with my 300WSM, and a better warranty than YHM.

    • @gatcattill
      @gatcattill  Рік тому

      While I’ll agree that it’s a great option, it’s still more expensive than the r9 ;) although the r9 had a price increase a couple months back it seems. . . About the warranty stuff though, YHM warranty is still excellent. They just won’t honor another vendors mistake. That’s important to understand. And Rex? They are trying to sell their company so if successful where does this leave all their customers?

    • @benjaminpurcell1438
      @benjaminpurcell1438 Рік тому

      To be fair, they've had that "for sale" listing for as long as I've known about the company, since around 2018. Most people take it to be a pie-in-the-sky price, not a serious listing. I'm sure that if someone came along and offered the owners of YHM more cash than the company was worth they'd be willing to take the early retirement and bounce too.

    • @gatcattill
      @gatcattill  Рік тому

      @@benjaminpurcell1438 no doubts on that - but the fact they are listing it has been a "discomfort" to some folks on purchasing from them, much like the YHM third party warranty stuff has been a discomfort for others.

    I have an R9 and it works great, but I do find that I still use earpro with 9mm subsonics if I'm shooting more than a couple of shots; The mechanical cycling of the firearm itself, not the shot, is what I find starts to irritate my ears if I don't. it does mean i can wear lighter earpro though. And when shooting 5.56 I definitely still need earpro but the r9 sure helps to make it overall more pleasant for me and those around me.

    • @gatcattill
      @gatcattill  Рік тому +2

      100% the mp5 action is quiet which is one of its draws. So I feel extremely comfortable without earpro in that configuration. 300 subsonic as well especially from a rifle. Hunting 308? Single shot should be no worries. Range plinking - better ear up.

I love the fact that the enduro has a titanium body and you can customize the baffle length but i don't want to spend 200 more (cause i need a DT mount in 5/8x24 for my 350 legend which ups the cost of the R9) if the benefits are minimal at best. Would this suppressor be safe on my 7.5 inch 300 blackout pistol build?

    • @gatcattill
      @gatcattill  3 місяці тому +1

      It's the cut off point where yhm is comfortable warranting the product. As you go down Im barrel length you end up with a lot more unburnt powder for.tbe suppressor to handle. As a result manufactures will set a hard limit on what is and is not acceptable in terms of pressure and heat generation. At 7.5 you'll probably be fine especially with subsonic ammo but supers I wouldn't recommend as if it fails it's on you (subs too but very slim chance)
