Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Just getting started and recently found you. @theinsurancesalesqueen
I’m also in my 50s and a woman of Faith. I took the plunge and just launched our YT channel last month to Celebrate my husband’s 1st Stroke Anniversary. The unexpected reward I received was a process of Healing for me. ❤
So glad to hear that for you 💥
Stop talking about me, Diane! 😂😂😂
I was afraid. So I started faceless. A few people subscribed and gave HONEST feedback and prompted me to show my face.
They continue to support me and provide feedback to help me improve.
Looking back, my fears were unfounded.
LOVE your channel!❤
@@Grammysstorytyme Thank you! 🥰
fellow gen-Xers, @Agingonyourterms is a super helpful channel for our season of life! Give her a follow
@@DianeMoore This has completely melted my heart. 🤗💓💕
Thank you! This means so much. ❤️
How do I find your channel so I can support as well
Yes being afraid is my only excuse!!!! I want to get past this fear because I see so many great things ahead if I do!!! I worry mostly about people from my past leaving comments about me my past or opinions they’ve held about me. I’m not young but fell paralyzed over these types of thoughts. As I’m writing this and listening to this video I JUST heard you address what I’m typing about now . Wow. Thank you for this video. I’m going to lean in and from my faith too! Thank you!!!
I sometimes feel this way too. My friend told me if someone posts rude comment you can block them. And get rid of comment. Hope this helps.
I hope you’ll give it a try…. yes, you can block people from your channel if necessary, and delete comments. It’s your space to set boundaries on.
@Rise2Prosper When I get going on my UA-cam channel I'm not telling my friends or family. I don't want this to be a Facebook Fakebook platform. I am looking for like-minded community. Of strangers. 😆 🤣
It's good that you have been inspired. Incidentally, I learnt graphic design when I was a third year Biotechnology student. Am still using that knowledge to create the thumbnails for my videos. I'll be glad to create thumbnails for you once you start.
@@conradMO-gardenerI would love some guidance!
Diane, I adore you and your authenticity. Your enthusiasm is infectious. I told my daughter a couple of years ago that I wanted to start a channel because I “have a lot to say”, lol. I love your thoughts on approaching it as a journal, and by doing so, perhaps help even one person’s struggle or just make their day a little better would be amazing. That’s exactly what you are doing!
Tamera, I love your attitude. I hope you’ll get your “lots to say” in some videos soon! 💥
Yes! And you are so inspiring! This is great. FEAR = False Evidence Appearing Real
I love the acronym 💥
It's scary at first and admittedly, fear stopped me in my previous attempts at starting a YT channel. But this time round, I'm determined to get past the fear and it definitely gets easier the more you do it 😀
You can do it! 💥
I wasn't really afraid so to speak but yes, I kept putting it off because I didn't want to learn editing. But then I started hearing people say they actually like those people who just record and share who they are without all that fancy editing stuff. So I started. Consistency though is something I struggle with. Maybe that is why I have only gotten 16 subscribers in a year or maybe my videos do just suck. I am really looking forward to the day that my channel takes off though. Thanks for sharing your story with us and encouraging us to keep going regardless.
So glad you’ve started, Melanie! May pushing forward in the process be encouraging for you 💥
Great video. Drummer here and avid griller/smoker and I've been advised that I should make a UA-cam channel but never have. I'm 46 and figured no one would care with so many channels out there. Watching your video has made me rethink this.
That sounds so interesting. 😍
@@MyLivingJournal Well thank you! My idea would be doing drum covers and grilling and smoking videos but I may have to choose one topic as it seems doing one thing seems to work. I do not want to confuse any potential followers.
@@TeslaDawkinsI already subscribe to some bbq/flat top channels, and I love the drums (I don’t play but I’d love to learn!) so a channel that somehow combines the two would be AWESOME! 🤩 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@@coleenmesserschmidt6323 Well I wish I could teach you how to play! You would love it! I appreciate the positive words and interest in the possible channel. I am going to start getting my stuff together and see what UA-cam can bring!
You should go for it! I recently started a channel about trumpet playing and so far so good... connecting with many like-minded folks - trumpeters and others - around the world. I bet you'd find a community of percussion enthusiasts, too! (and probably you could work in the grilling somehow, too!...or do a percussion channel now and grow your UA-cam skills and later possibly start a grilling one.). Cheers! Deanna
I totally agree. I conquered my fear 10 years ago. I used to watch natural hair videos but started creating content. I’m not monetized yet due to watch hours but I won’t give up. Thank you so much Diane 😊.
So glad you’re creating and contributing, Karen! 💥
Hello. I wanted to say thank you for your videos. I am a recovering addict/alcoholic of 30 yrs (3 yrs sober) and watching you has given me the courage to start my own channel (Shot Of Sobriety) I want so bad for people who are in active addiction to have hope it can get better. Age 53 and taking the leap.
What a wonderful goal and purpose for what you want to do! So glad this has given you the courage. And congratulations on 3 years sober!!
Please proceed. Your wisdom in that niche (30 years) is truly what people will love.
I guess I am a little afraid to bare my soul,so to speak, on one subject , which will be the first of many I want to discuss. It's the most pain I've ever been through, and I live with it every day. But, I need and want to speak with others I know are going through it too, andi believe we can help each other... Just want to figure out how to do it.
Very helpful tips instead of listening to the voice of fear. I am 73 therefore you can imagine that UA-cam is alien territory. I am dipping my toes in the water. Your sharing is encouraging me with confidence.
So glad you're moving on it, Linda! That's great
Thanks Dianne. I am benefiting from your videos. They are helping me to press on!
Me too 😊
Wonderful! 💥
Good morning Diane , thank you so much for your channel content . I love your honest and very real content for the Gen X community . You are an inspiration and an encouragement to me and so many others. I just found you very recently and already you are moving me in the direction of creating a UA-cam channel . Again , Thank you and keep this helpful and engaging content coming .
That’s really kind - thank you. I’ll keep pushing you in that direction! 🙂
You are one of the people that I've watched, that has pushed me over the edge to get started.
Thank you for that.
Keep on doing what you do because are an inspiration to many.
Happy to help push you over the edge! 🙂
Hi Diane, firstly, can I say that you make really good videos. You are clear and concise and you have a comfortable voice to listen to. Your background is great, too-not too sterile, beautifully warm, but uncluttered. Secondly (and you mentioned this in this video) you don’t take for granted that we know something. I love that! For this topic people need simple! Other videos are so complicated and take for granted we know the beginning steps. Thank you for not making me feel dumb! I’m 54 and was at home raising a houseful of children for 24 years. The computer was the last thing I had time for-let alone social media. Somewhere down that line I started feeling stupid about my lack of skills. I am not stupid!!! The kids flew the nest and I totally needed to recreate. So when you talk basics, lady, you are talking to me! Thank you!
I was wondering if you could talk about the nuts and bolts of that very first video. Creating an account and downloading it, etc.
Plus, I love love love that you said you care about what God thinks of you…not a stranger. Yes yes and yes.❤
“Nuts and bolts!” Yes! Canva landing pages, all that stuff? Do you really have to have that? Intro music? 😅
Thanks for the suggestion - I’ll think about how I can make that work! I’m confident you can learn 💥
Gotcha. I only use canva for the thumbnail image. And honestly I think music just complicates things for UA-cam so I’m not going that route
@@DianeMoore Good. I use Photoshop for my thumbnails. And I agree that music makes things complicated. I don't prefer adding any music to my videos too. Thanks Diane for the honesty and motivation.
I film SOOOO much footage and then can’t seem to edit it into a coherent video and I get overwhelmed and give up. I can’t tell you how much footage I have that idk what to do with. Anyway, thanks for your encouraging videos. You feel like a friend. 😊
I'm sure that is overwhelming. Maybe the challenge is simply to film less so it's more doable to finish?
@@DianeMoore thank you!
I understand the challenge. Maybe I could help with the editing and thumbnails. Your channel is just a few days away from launching I believe.
@@conradMO-gardener that’s very kind of you but I couldn’t afford to pay you. Thank you for offering. ♥️
Diane, your vlogs look so professional! Every time I watch one of your vlogs I feel I'm getting closer to doing my own. You are so inspirational 😊 I too feel I want to share my knowledge with people. But also share my not so great experiences with getting there. It's tough out there...I've had alot of sadness and stress lately too. But I'm getting better, and im learning and feel like I have more confidence now than when I was younger. It's so exciting! I'm 63 years old, on my second marriage, retired and enjoying trying new things in my life that I've never had the opportunity to do... (including a University course, hopefully) so thank you Diane, bless you 🎉
I think sharing your knowledge via UA-cam can be an excellent addition to your "new things to try" list!
Yes I am. Have felt for 2 years that I should start one. So many fears and still don’t have an idea for what. 😑
When people call you for advice what are they asking? That’s your niche. What people are asking you for now. Think about it
Or just tell your life story. We all have a great story to tell
I can help you get started. My channel isn't the best, but I would still be glad to help. Especially if you need some basic editing and the thumbnails. Hint: CapCut is my basic tool for editing.
Hello from a fellow Diane! We postponed starting a channel because we were afraid of what others would think. I'm so glad we did it though. It's only been a month, but we're having so much fun and the channel is slowly but surely growing!! Good luck to you.
That's so great to hear! 💥
You are good!! Thanks Diane. Your skill as a motivational speaker is excellent. 👍. Thank you for this gentle and appreciated kick in the rear. 😊
Over 50 here too. Thank you for your inspiration!Yes, I was afraid, but took the plunge a month ago! Tonight was the first time I posted a long form video and talked on camera. It was terrifying, but I know it will get better 😊

Amen Diane! You are such a beautiful person. I love your videos and I love that you talked about your faith! Praying for you!
Hey, I really appreciate that
Your personality and attitude is awesome. I've recently been thinking about starting a channel and I was slightly terrified and intimidated by equipment and knowledge and tech knowledge, all the pitfalls you've spoken about. You've made it all feel a thousand times more approachable. After binging a bunch of your videos I'm excited to start filming and editing. You rock :)
Truly that made my day! I’m so glad! 💥
You are very encouraging. Thank you.❤

I wish i could go to someone’s house and they could give me lessons for 2 weeks! Ha, i’m such a wimp! It would just be helpful to lay some kind of ground work before starting! Anyone give in person lessons?
Aw - thanks for the kind words. Cathy, I'm sure you can find lots of UA-cam videos that will feel just like being at someone's house. :)

Yes I am in the afraid/ procrastination phase. Mainly due to the technical fears. I have it all in my head…but frozen past that lol
I'll be glad to give some support on the technical part if you record your first 8 minutes video. Don't fear about the quality. Just record and let's get started.
what holds me back is feeling that I look too gross...my teeth are bad...I look very rough...it just sucks any confidence away from me..I just dont know how to get past these issues I put on myself
What I've realized is I am WAY more aware of my *flaws* than anyone else is. I'm sure it's the same with you, and those things won't even be noticed by others. If you start, let me know and I will subscribe and support you! ❤️
A lot of people feel and are imperfect. Maybe addressing that is YOUR niche.
Well, don't fear. You can start with a few faceless videos. Am sure you have a lot to share with the world. To tell you the truth, your appearance doesn't matter, the knowledge that you offer is what matters indeed. Don't fear. Don't fear. Don't fear. God is on your side. Hi Diane
I'm David aka ambientdave living here in the UK.I had a channel since 2012 and to be honest not put much effort into my channel thinking I was not good enough
To date I have 355 subscribers ,but only a small amount fo videos so far.
I am a hobbyist and enjoy creating and learning ambient styles of music and tutorials and love to share my knowledge with like minded people. a
And proud to be part of the UA-cam community
Thanks Diane. Truly thank you! I'm working on figuring out my channel and recording, etc. I did record for my grandkids my current channel but I suspect little ones aren't as critical as adults! 😆
Ha! I’m sure you’re right about that!
I started posting 19 days ago on my new channel. I have 30 videos up so far, most of them probably not great. I am learned to edit and learning about lighting. I only have 12 brave people that have subscribed. I'm 67 and really enjoying myself. I video wilderness, animals wild and domestic, old buildings and Homesteads, one room School Houses and covered bridges. I can't walk anymore and my hands and arms shake bad, but if you can jirate(shake rite) you can see what I am filming.
My Favorite Lady, it just makes my day when you post. ❤❤❤
Aw that’s very sweet - thank you

Hi Diane: thank you so much for your video! I’ve been thinking about starting a UA-cam channel but had all the fears you mentioned. Good morn to all!! Your channel, Silver and Single, and Dough Dash, amongst many other channels are so very uplifting and encouraging for me. There is so much wisdom and love with the messages. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love funny, comedic videos, but the wealth of information and hope that is radiated is so welcome.
I’m so glad it’s encouraging for you! 💥
Well, you said something that lit a spark…personal journal. I have a dog-Butterscotch- that I love A LOT, she has a seizure disorder and we recently discovered her lymphocytes are above the standard level which means she may have lymphoma. We ruled out that one of her seizure medications was causing the increased lymphocytes.
She is 10 years old and I can journal our days together- not knowing how many we have left together however many that may be.
‘Loving Butterscotch’ or ‘Adventures with B’ with this one my first name begins with B and I can continue the channel with my rode to minimalism/vanlife🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
Thank you 🙏🏾 for being so kind, helpful and encouraging. 😊
Hope the info is helpful too!
Thank you for keeping it real and kicking the perfection factor to the curb 🎉 Can you speak more on what to aim for as far as the length of our videos? I love doing my IG stories but they are quick in the moment thoughts and so much fun for me. A youtube video needs to be longer so I am figuring out how to keep it fun and in the moment.
I think it sort of might depend on topic as far as length is concerned. All I know is I'm trying to rein myself in and get a little shorter! :)
Diane!! Speaking a good word! Thank you for this. Very encouraging ❤😊 minute 4:38 🔥 and especially minute 6:18 faith forward and relying on God to keep you as you go! Amen to that!!!😊

Oh my, it certainly would be! You can do this 💥
Yes. Scared. Scatterbrained. Not good at anything in particular. I think mostly I'm scared of people. I don't really want a huge "community" because there's too much pressure. And I can't deal with conflict or negative people at all. My ptsd completely erased that fortitude. lol. That’s wonderful, Ingrid - so glad to hear you’re pushing past the fear. If it helps, I have a video on how I edit with CapCut on my phone,
@@DianeMoore I saw online that program is not being supported as well in as in the past. I would prefer not to begin with it if it’s going to become obsolete.
I do want to make UA-cam videos, but it takes a lot of work and as you get older, you sometimes get sick and don’t have the energy to make them consistently. I have also seen that people who start a UA-cam channel go through something stressful in their life either with their health or with some other issue. Thinking about the fun it could be is nice, but also thinking about the added stress is not something I want to add to my life. But I get this sense that I am supposed to be doing it. I want to make UA-cam videos about sewing doll clothes and regular clothes but then I think, what would I do if I get sick and can’t make the videos consistently. People get upset. And I have heard from other UA-camrs that people say very mean comments to them and I just don’t want that in my life. I enjoy my peace. 😆 I’m older and retired so I don’t necessarily need to make an income, but it would be nice to eventually make an income so that I could donate it to feeding the hungry. We have a lady in our town who feeds the hungry every Sunday. But she will feed anyone who calls her for an “emergency meal” as she calls it. And since I am older, I cannot go out and feed the hungry, but I like to contribute to her ministry. We don’t have a soup kitchen in our small town. I recently found your channel and I think you are nice to talk to people about this, so thank you for that. I hope you have a good weekend. 😊
I understand what you're saying. It is your wisdom of many years that the world needs so much. Believe me, people really need it. If you can record, I can help with the editing and thumbnails. And don't fear what people will say about your videos. Your wisdom will be more helpful even to those who may have negative words on your videos.
I am really enjoying your videos. As I work to improve and build my channel, I have been looking for real people with practical advice. You have been very helpful.
I'm truly glad to hear it's been helpful for you! (PS - I grew up on a dairy farm :) )

I am in my 30's and you inspire me so much. What's stopping me is: I live in an apartment with paper thin walls. The super nosy upstairs neighbors literally walk above me sometimes to listen to what I'm talking about (whenever I talk on the phone). They sometimes drag furniture. It riles my nerves. Other than that I don't care who sees me, it's the nosy neighbors UGH. But I don't care anymore. I know UA-cam has the ability to change my life.
Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Using your phone, tripod, and a mic, you’re pretty portable to record. I really hope there is someplace(s) that can work for you.
@@DianeMoore Thank you. I'm going to start recording in my car =)
Great video - again! I've been doing YT videos for years but only in the last few weeks have I really looked at it as a possible business opportunity and a way to drive traffic to my blog and online shop. Baby steps! I just bought a new mic and webcam, and I'm trying to figure out my phone to use it sometimes too.
UA-cam has so many potential benefits…. I hope you can start it as an effective traffic generator! 💥
Yes, I'm afraid. You are describing me to a T. I think it's time for me to stop thinking about it and just doing it. I'm in my 60's and so some parts of starting seems daunting, especially the tech side. Sometimes in life though, you just have to do it even if you're afraid. You could be my friend 😃
Judy, I have every confidence that you can push through and do this! 💥 I really hope you’ll will.
@@DianeMoore You have inspired me! I need to watch your videos on how to set it up. Thanks so much Diane for the encouragement!
Did I hear you correctly about surgery on your back? I have my entire lumber fused back in the 70's. Keep on sharing. THANK YOU
Neck. Glad you're still kicking 40 years after that kind of surgery!
Hi. I have known for decades that I have SO MUCH to share that is helpful to others. In a LOT of topics. People know and acknowledge this, but I have never taken it past personal touch (in person, whether 1 on 1 or in a group small or large, or by phone). I am fortunate retired and in charge of my life schedule. But retirement has also shrunk my world of "making a difference."
I had thought about blogging, when it was a big thing. But although I'm a great writer, the screen time was overwhelming and sounded unpleasant.
I didn't like the idea of vlogging, because I am critical of myself on video, and I don't like the tone of my voice.
But the way you put it, I feel a bit splashed with cold water - I am DEPRIVING people of all that I have to share that is actually LIFE-IMPROVING to others. And not sharing leaves me unfulfilled.
Im 55. I don't want to go back into practice as a life coach. I have had the idea, "what difference would my voice make," because I feel that so many topics I have expertise in are now "covered." I don't need additional income. You are showing me that fact makes it EVEN BETTER. I don't have to CARE about monetizing! I have a style of genuine communication that is a different voice, even if it may be the same topic that someone else is speaking to in YT Land. I'm following you, and I'm listening. Thank you for the cold splash.

Great video, I was afraid initially but I am not anymore because I enjoy making videos, thanks!
Glad to hear it! 💥
Editing Editing Editing that’s what I’m scared of!! But….. I guess you tube has the answer!
I've got a video coming out tomorrow morning that I think you're going to like......... 😊
You are an inspiration. Thanks for your awesome content!
So glad to hear that! 💥
Hi Diana, I would love to get started, but I tend to overthink things to death before I actually step out on faith and do it. I just lost my job at 58 and I am trying to think about what I want to do now. I do not want another 9 to 5 job. I've never liked being restricted. I like to help people as I go about my life. I just need to figure out how I can make a living doing it.
What video editing program do you use? That another thing I stress about is the editing.
I've got a video coming out tomorrow morning that I think you're going to like......... 😊
Thank you for the inspiration ❤
Hope you take the leap! 💥

Right back at ya, Marian 💥
@@DianeMoore You inspired me to start a UA-cam channel. Thank you!
I just made and posted my first video a couple of days ago. I listen to it and wince because I know it takes me longer to talk or get words out due to chronic illness problems (brain fog is part of it), but I LOVE crafting and want to talk to other people about it on my channel. It is so hard when you have 0 subscribers and 0 views though. I did make my family watch and subscribe. I am afraid that people think that I might not have something worth saying 😕. I graduated with a nursing degree and thought people would want to hear "Craft with a nurse" episodes as well as other things, but when I run these ideas with my teenager (because UA-cam is driven by them, right??) she said it would be a hard no for most viewers. Thank you for your video though, it is helping me to be more confident with what I have to offer.
