  • Knee pain behind the knee cap is often connected to chondromalacia patella.
This is diagnosed by x-ray when there is "shrinking" or "thinning" cartilage on the backside of the knee cap.
Treatments tend to focus on using medications and injections to help reduce pain and inflammation... but they only help temporarily.
Some people even have surgery for chondromalacia patella! Microfracture surgery, articular debridement, chondroplasty, and in rare cases some even have a patella replacement surgery.
In this video, Dr. David shares the 7 best treatments for knee pain from chondromalacia patella.
In case you need it, here is a playlist of all our videos to help people suffering with knee pain from chondromalacia patella.

I love your videos !! Can you make a video about how to regain your pivoting range of motion with meniscus injuries. What exercises do you recommend when you are having pain pivoting ?

Omg I had surgery a year ago and ever since I haven’t been able to make “sharp turns” comfortably and haven’t been able to explain it.
You put it perfectly! Pivoting range of motion! Thank you

What do you do when the meniscus and cartilage is gone on a 80 year old women?

  • @fredas-t4890
    @fredas-t4890 День тому

Dr David, my knees are pulling together. The right knee is worse, been x-rayed, bone on bone on outside, space on inside. The Patella does not Look like it is in the center of my knee joint, it is pulled (almost the width of my patella!) towards the outside of my knee.
I am Not physically active, literally sitting probably half my waking hours.
I am now wearing a slide-up-my-leg brace on my knee, bc it began hurting. I do NOT mow my lawn, I weed eat it! To prevent more walking.
The other symptom is the ryt knee has begun popping when I go from strait to 90’. About the 45’ mark. NO popping going from 90’ to straight.
What do you suggest I do to repair this damage? For me, I don’t have a zipper or two pre-installed. I see NO Reason to have surgery.
    Thank you! Freda S/T

Hi - great suggestions - I'll be giving these treatments a try. You mention using a massage gun. I'm quite sensitive to pressure (e.g., need a lighter touch with massages) so I'm concerned that these 'guns' will be too painful. Do you have any recommendations on a brand that might be suitable? Thanks.

One further question - I'd appreciate your thoughts on infrared light therapy treatments. Thanks.

Doctor can you share some exercises using ankle weights ( I have meniscus tear , osteoarthritis as well as chonromalacua patella) is it okay for me to use ankle weight to exercise ( I am 60 year old female)

Hey there Suja! Thank you for the kind words!
Sorry to hear you're dealing with meniscus pain, arthritis, and patella issues!
While exercise is super important, the ankle weight may not be the best move for your current situation. We need to address the root muscle imbalance, which over time will help the knee joint. Attached below are some exercises you can try that should offer relief at this moment :-)

You have kept the fee for the program as 140-150$. How can someone like me coming from a developing country pay so much. 140-150$ translates to 13000-15000 here. Why don't you guys pay more importance to helping people as humans and don't attach a price to it. You can also keep the fee to a bare minimum like some 10$ or so. But you all guys just wanna make money through the pain people experience. It's a shitty thing to do!!!

We do care very much about people and the injuries and situations that they are in. All the information that we provide on UA-cam is absolutely free, and we have extensive information available. We have playlists with hours of content that can be incredibly helpful. If you needed something specific, you could have just emailed us to see if we had any resources for you.
We understand that the cost of our program can be a burden, especially for those in developing countries. However, the fee covers the time, research, and resources needed to create and maintain high-quality programs. Reducing the fee to a bare minimum like $10 would not be sustainable and would compromise the quality and availability of our content.
We appreciate your feedback but want to emphasize that our free content is designed to provide substantial help to those who can't afford the paid programs.
