- In this video Prof. Dr. Bellemans explains what can be done about chondromalacia patellae, and how the treatment is influenced by which stage you are in.

Awesome video. Thank you Doctor.
I have chondromalacia and have just learned more about its physiological progression than I have in 40 years of having had it - thank you. 👍
10 years for me and just learned what it ACTUALLY is! Going to doctor asap.
Great explanation as usual! This seems to be a "knee topic" not discussed very often, so thanks for adressing it. I hope there's enough interest in this topic to go further in depth on causes, such as prevalence among certain professions, injuries like repeated patellar subluxations, and Q angle variations--both genetic and between the sexes. And of course, the surgical approaches like chondroplasty, tendon releases, retinacluar imbrications, maquet procedure, etc.
4:18 thank you for saying that. I was scared that my stage 2 chondromalacia was wrongly diagnosed because of how much pain it has been causing me. I was afraid it was stage 3 or 4, but the MRI luckily showed it's only stage 2.
Excellent presentation!
Dear Dr. Bellemans, is Chondromalacia patellae the same as chondropathy of the knee joint. And if yes, what exact exercises /sport would be beneficial ? Please assist.
Can swimming help ?
What stem cells did you use please
i have incorporated an exercise program that includes a stationary recumbent bike that i do everyday for 5 minutes...not a lot of resistance but just enough to get the knees moving and lubricated...is it true that Motion=Lotion in regards to knees???? and cartilage possible regeneration????
I injured myself cycling with the wrong fit lol
Thank you, the quality of your MRI scans is amazing. I looked into chondromalacia after my doctor told me I had it (later it turned out to be cartilage damage due to plica which required surgery in both knees. Cartilage indeed heals slowly, but now I am back on the bike!)
In patellofemoral pain, the cartilage is the first thing checked but, in fact cartilage isn't innervated ... Why this paradigm ?
😩 *Promosm*
