River Severn Canoe Trip - Day 3. Montford Bridge to Shrewsbury.

- Опубліковано 27 чер 2023
- In this video, I am over on the Welsh/English border to paddle a section of the river Severn with my good friends George, Rachel and of course Andy from Kent Survival.
We have three days to paddle from Welshpool to Shrewsbury, wild camping along the way and carrying all we need for the adventure in our canoes.
Day three begins with the most stunning early morning river mist - a most positive start to our final day on the river. After a hearty breakfast, we pack up and get back on the water - our camp spot on the narrow beach of an island has been fantastic - better than we could have hoped for and totally unexpected.
Our last day takes us along nicely flowing water, lined with trees and teaming with wildlife as we wind our way towards the town of Shrewsbury and the hustle and bustle of civilisation.
It has been a wonderful journey along a beautiful river full of surprises and a delightful feast for the eyes whichever direction you look. Thank you George and Rachel for inviting us to join you and thank you for organising and arranging everything - it is always a logistical challenge organising a linear canoe trip, but everything worked like clockwork!
I hope you enjoy the video.
Thanks for watching.

Simon adds to the quality of life for so many people. Such simple adventures yet so satisfying.
Thank you Chris! 🙏🏻😁
Amen
No other outdoor channel can hold a flame to Simon, Bloke in the Woods. Incredible editing skills, most gorgeous locations every time he takes us along. All with a rare depth of honesty & sincerity in his gentle, respectful nature. Thanks for it all Simon.
Thank you so much for capturing our adventure! It was such a brilliant trip, so many laughs, and very wet feet, but had such a great time and would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
Until the next adventure... 😁
Thanks Rachel! It was bloody great wasnt it! Can’t wait for our next adventure!
Enjoyed that series, I've never paddled the Severn and was surprised at the speed of flow.
Kudos to Andy for attempting it in an origami Kayak.
Watching you every week is like a vacation for the soul. Beautifully filmed and edited. Thank you for making all the effort. Stay safe 🙏
Thank you Anita! 🙏🏻
Aww, baby Merganser ducks with their messy hair… so cute!
What a calm, peaceful trip with perfect weather. Thanks for taking us along!
Those ducks were my favourite part, so cute!
@@bethdoublekickchick8007 30 years ago it was a big deal seeing a goosander with young in Shropshire. There was a bit of a fuss when they bred on our farm (Teme).
@@vinnalls375 Aww that's lovely!
Really appreciate that you spend far more time viewing the gorgeous scenery than shooting your mouth off! Another great vid! Cheers...
Thanks Simon, Guys and Gal. Really enjoyed joining you in these three videos. Such a calm and pleasent journey down the Severn with you all . The sights and sounds were so relaxing . Heres to many more Simon. Great job .
The world needs more of this.
You have no idea how much I need a lovely Simon video right now. My cat Darcy will very soon be crossing over the rainbow to meet Simon's beautiful Maggie dog and I am distraught and can't think straight. These few minutes of peaceful escape are so welcome. Thank you.
Very sorry for you, sending you strength 🙏
Where there is deep grief, there was great love. Thoughts & prayers to you and your beloved friend, for peace & strength to you. x
So sorry, I do know how you feel. You'll be ok soon, just cry until it's gone for a while. And then cry again. It will be better soon. Sending hugs ❤
Thoughts are with you Carol, and Darcy.
So very sorry Carole, I’m sure when the time comes, Darcy and Maggie will make friends and look out for each other. The grief is the price we pay for that deep deep love. Thinking of you.
Partly WIND IN THE WILLOWS! What a fine British river the Severn is. What fine summer weather. The final frames are wonderful in showing a variety of people and crafts enjoying the river and in showing mixed scenery.
When Simon smiles I smile too
It’s a lovely feeling
Thank you sir
What a wonderful group of lovely folks to go adventuring with. Really enjoyed the virtual comradery with George, Rachel, Andy and you, too, Simon. This was such a wonderful series of posts. Some of the best content on UA-cam in my opinion. Simon tailgating a swan made me giggle. The scenery was so beautiful and the company was so pleasant and relaxing. So glad everything went off so well. Thank you for working so hard to take us along, Simon. It's always such a pleasure when your videos pop up in my notifications. Can't wait to go along on your next adventure! All of ya'll take care and be safe! 👍👍☺☺🧡🧡🙏🙏
Nooo! Too slow to be first 😞 Also, I am deeply envious of your coffee pot!
I lived in Shrewsbury for a while, that river is a beast in the winter, a joy in the summertime. Great vlog Simon, thank you x
Just what I needed today; a vicarious paddle. Thank you!
best part is Simon emerging from his "cocoon" to face the day! The rest is beautiful, however, the emergence is epic! thanks Simon
And the poor guy had to do it twice just to get the shot! Who else would volunteer to wake up twice in a morning?!
Haha - thanks mate!
Lovely and relaxing to watch, you are such a gentleman Simon.
Thankyou so much again buddy, its a trip me and rachel won't forget for a long long time!!! U and Andy are true gents and it was a pleasure paddling with u both 😁🙏👍
Big thanks to you both for helping it happen. There’s lots of us sitting watching who can’t get out on the river who really appreciate you sharing your adventures with us. We have all loved coming along with you!
All thanks to you and Rachel mate! It was awesome! Roll on the next trip! 😁
Can't wait buddy! 😉😁👍👍
Great video again Simon. Thanks for taking us along. Wonderful!
An absolutely beautiful place, Simon. Thank you for sharing with us! And give our thanks to your friends for making this trip happen.

The nature sounds r awesome and seeing the nests alongside the stream is COOL !!!
I love this canoe trip you’ve been on. So many swans. So cool to see. Thank you Simon for taking us with you!!
Best adventure video and stunning scenery thanks Simon for sharing yours adventures videos sad it comes to an end absolutely amazing Simon cheers 👍
Thank you Andrew! 😁
Early morning... the mist coming off the river. Makes me want to grab my fishing rod. Fab !
What a beautiful, picturesque video Simon. So peaceful listening to the birds and seeing the swans on their nests. So pleased the four of you had a lovely three days
Well, I waited until I had watched all 3 before leaving a comment. So now I have, all I have to say is Bloody well done, and wow you got some amazing/beautiful footage. Great video/adventure. Can't wait to see what you do next.
PS. Tell your buddy in the Kayak he would have found it easier if he had the paddle the right way round, it was upside down the whole paddle lol.
😂😂 I’ll let him know!
Thank you! It was a lovely little journey 👍
I think it’s time for a Simon and Andy adventure. ❤
Thanks Simon, it's a lovely series.
I came to canoeing in my 40s having lived near the Severn until I left for Uni.
The videos have given me the inspiration to head back to the borders and paddle with my family.
I may even look to extend your trip and head to Ironbridge where i grew up.
All the best and keep inspiring us to get out there.
Wot...no Part Severn 😮😒? Seriously I 'd have watched 7parts of this Simon, I loved it. Thank you 🙏👍
good to catch up enjoyed that thanx Simon 🤟

He wasn’t wrong. Thanks for taking us along on all three parts of this adventure. Brings me happy memories of living on our waterways.
This is DEFINITELY on my 'to do' list.
Really great to see what it's like from the water and what obstacles/hazards to expect.
Thank you so much Simon.
Beautiful location, scenery, and production... It's such a joy to watch. Thank you for the upload, Simon.
T
What a 3 day adventure Simon, Andy, George and Rachel.
It was absolutely amazing! 😁
Thank you for the wonderful adventure Simon.
A beautiful canoe, Simon! Tks for sharing the birdsong and the river! 👍🇨🇦😎🏞
Really great trio of vids Simon, a really varied river, thanks for posting it.
The time and effort that you go to, to go back and recover a camera continues to amaze me. When with others, I may ask someone following to collect a camera, but no way would I put in such the great effort that you do to make the scenes so realistic.
So relaxing and peaceful, thank you for yet another beautifully captured video Simon!
Absolutely stunning, gorgeous, beautiful... all the way through. You are simply the best, Simon.
A laugh out loud moment: Simon stuffing himself with jellies. Gotta love him!
Man, my man Andy lost a lot of weight! Great video! Love you and Especially Andy!😊
Thanks for sharing your journey into my home town
A pleasure to watch.
The craft Andy had was not practical for that trip.
Hi Simon!! Seeing a new video from you just made my week. I’m dealing with a lot of really heavy stuff in life just now and you are the escape. Bless.
I absolutely love the music at the end of the video. I'm part Irish❤
Anyone else here after watching blott? Fantastic mate lovely job ❤
Another great video Simon! A great adventure with great friends! That's what it's all about. Thank you for sharing.
Great little series. We all loved it !
I so enjoyed this little trip, thanks for bringing me along
Just spent two hours with my hand down a drain - stressed but job done and a simon video with a beer - all is good again thanks
Clearly you love jelly babies as much as me 😊 Great video! Thanks Simon 👌
Bless Andy (A.K.A. "Captain Birdseye"), he looks like a kid following his dad in his toy canoe
So peaceful and relaxing to watch ❤
Outstanding! Ye that dreaded four lettered word W-O-R-K 🤦♂️ Still look forward to the next adventure. Great series, really quite peaceful and breathtaking. Well done all 🇮🇪🇮🇪Atb Tony
Brilliant Simon throughly enjoyed the trip along the river. Excellent videos and I am sure you had great company. Cheers. B. K
Nice Yes! good days what you had feels good to be a live. Sorry you had to return to work.
Simon, thanks for another adventure, I really enjoyed it.
have managed Llandrinno to Shrewsbury across a couple of different day trips. As you say, an absolute pleasure to paddle. In fact we must have been on the Llandrino to Montford bridge section only a few days apart. Fantastic weather and scenery. As ever thanks for sharing.
Killing the jelly babies....lol
6 jeely babies in one go lol class Simon!
I’m glad your opening shot was the swan on the river rather than you crawling out of your cocoon 😊
Wicked I've paddled that section, and camped down along the way. Nice part of the seven
Ahh yes, part 3 😃👍
Another great video to finish on Simon the scenery looks so beautiful
Fantastic series! Many thanks Simon, Andy, Rachael and George. Simon you have a lot to answer for. Not only have I recently received my mini fire anchor from your mate Trevor at TJM Metalwork (the postage to Australia was a killer!), but I am now going to look at 2nd hand canoe tomorrow. Oh, and I bought a sowing machine, although I still haven’t figured out who to work it. You should do a video on how to use one of the bloody things for absolute beginners! You make it look so easy! 😂
The speed of you devouring those jelly babies 😂
Thanks again Simon for sharing a really nice Adventure! As always your content is a pleasure to watch! I really love how you show your true passion for the Outdoors and how you make it so encouraging and inspiring to get out there! I am also a Norfolk Lad but currently living in Lowestoft! I also have a passion for the outdoors and love Wildlife Photography! I have been a Subscriber for a good few years now and I always look forward to seeing what your next Adventure will be! Keep up the great content! All the best! 😊
Thank you James! Maybe our paths will cross one day - Norfolk/Suffolk aren’t that big! 😁
I've never had bacon as good as English bacon...amazing.
Lovely video as always Simon.
Was certainly back to reality at the end with all those other people about.😊
Beautiful scenery!
The figure on the bank put me in mind of the film Don't Look Now .
Beautiful video. Love how you devoured those Jelly Babies 😄. You all looked like you had a great time .
Absolutely beautiful trip. After a trip like that, I don't blame you for wanting another day off to recoup from your little vacation.
Looks like a great trip, river and weather cooperated.
Looking forward to more videos like these.
God bless you and your friends for sharing this time with us. Be safe, my friend, on your travels.
As always when it comes to your canoe trip videos - inspirational! You capture the beauty of the river and its surroundings, the joy of paddling and subtly demonstrate the J-stroke.
Very nice, and indeed that was a very good quack 🦆👍
😂😂👍
Fantastic videos as always Simon. I am always amazed about the quality of the filming, the setups and your editing. Must take so much time and planning. So glad you put the effort in it and share it with us. Much appreciated mate! Thanks!
Great vid - although was expecting at several points to see ‘Simon - a bloke attacked by Swans’ ! 😂🎉
They were quite chilled thankfully! 😂
Always enjoy your canoeing adventures. Always so peaceful and beautiful. I've been canoeing once on the Loxahatchee River in Florida, where we saw alligators instead of Swans and Grebes, and kayaking once around Chincoteague Island, VA where we saw wild ponies on the beaches and in the marshes. So I know the peace and quiet and the serenity one feels on the water in a unmotorized boat. Will look forward to your next outing! Stay safe and healthy
Awesome series! Thanks for another great adventure!
Best way to wake up (Australia 🌏) is to a Simon notification
Very enjoyable as usual thanks Simon. Just the thing on a pre dawn brisk Aussie winter morning.
I just watched the weather report. They declared our overnight temperatures dropped to zero. Unheard of cold for a sub tropical beach resort village.
Even though Simon didn't actually have fishy noodles in this vid, I couldn't resist having them again. I even made them in the garden on the honey stove. Classic.
Lovely Touchers birds
Good video. Was nice to see my home town from a different perspective.
The way you loaded those sweets into your mouth, poetry in motion!👌😆
Looked like a great trip, very high standard of film making ! Thanks again for taking the time to share. 🖖👍👊😊
You should plan a canoe trip in Canada. The water on the rivers and lakes is plenty deep here. Algonquin Park is one of many amazing places to paddle!
Enjoyed this series very much
Great trip! Thanks for sharing my friend 🤠
I've been looking for a canoe ,you make it look so enjoyable!
Lovely video's Simon, great adventures, thanks for sharing it all 👏👋
Andy and his paper canoe! looks like a lot of fun.
Lovely trio of videos! We arnt a million miles away from the Severn, bit higher up nearer Bewdley, Stourport, Bridgnorth . Nice to see a different aspect of the river 😊
What a lovely stretch of river and a great river adventure.
love when you do the multiple day adventures simon enjoyed also the ones in norway if the folks watching havent seen those check them out a real feat of endurance but very enjoyable never the less and well worth watching love the channel and keep them coming
Thanks for another great video, beautiful river and surroundings.
Those poor jelly babies didn't stand a chance 😆😄
Thanks Simon, great adventure
Lovely paddle
I just want to say I really love your videos, you put so much into them I love them, I have told my friends about you and they have now been watching you.🎉🎉🎉
It is also lovely to see you with Kent survival as we follow him as well.
