I have over 350 hours on the switch and I have only ever found 1 Dino egg and I immediately died in the mines and it was taken never had one since kinda makes u hate the game a little 🙃
My pomegranate tree was suddenly smoking and I didn't realize it was producing coal. It stayed that way half of fall and I was so frustrated I didn't have my pomegranates. It wasn't until I googled that I realized I needed to harvest it to make it go back to normal and learned how rare the event was.
@DrunkShroom It's not that simple, but if you get in you'll quickly adapt to specific things. For this mod I had to patch game files to raise the probability of a lightning hitting trees to 100% and aswell implement the function to spawn those.

Since lightning can destroy your precious crops (provided you haven't built a lightning rod), the game designed luck for lightning as inversely proportional (higher luck:less lightnings)(lower luck:more lightnings)

I just assumed they were toast, and chopped them down disappointedly (I didn't get stumps remaining like in your video) but a few coal lumps fell out. The second time it happened I realised I shouldn't have chopped those trees down!
I’ve had trees get completely knocked down by lightning, crops destroyed, and (oddly enough) my cat got spooked by lightning striking a lightning rod. I love storms.
Btw DF you're more likely to find a dinosour egg in winter with high luck and a lucky lunch. This is because more worms spawn in winter and more luck might help. I'm not sure if the luck effects it at all but in winter I tend to find one or two dino eggs a year bc of that.
I found that a lot of people dont know this but you can have up to 10 trees growing in the greenhouse without obstructing its garden, its nice because trees bare fruit indefinitely

Maybe there's an area around the house that is more protected than the rest of the farm. The outer tree's seem to indicate that in this video too
If you use the set time tool the lightning still strikes. So, if you set the next day to lightning, wakeup, and skip eash hour at a time, you can get through 18 strikes (ir so) in about 20 seconds.

I was a little confused as to what was going on and thought it was a bug. Reason I thought it was a bug was because we had a camp fire near by, and I thought the smoke particles were just missed placed. The reason I didn't know that the tree had became a coal tree was that it was still a sapling and wasn't ready to bare fruit. Kinda cool to see that this is a real thing though.
I learned through clock mods that lighting strikes at set times. A trick for getting lightning to hit things is to just shift the clock back and forth between 2 times that lightning hits. The mods better obviously. But this works too

You spaced your trees a little far away. They do require the 8 free spaces around them to be free, but they can overlap. They only require one space between them

I'm binging a lot of DF's stardew valley after not playing for 2 years. I can't believe a lot of the rare stuff happened in my first year. Also, I was confused when for a full week my orange tree had coals and thought that it was interesting how they have lightning hitting trees in the summer.
I actually discovered the coal trees because I happened to put a lit campfire too close to my apple tree... I had no idea why I was getting coal and the tree was smoking. But that was certainly a much faster way to get a coal tree. When I took the campfire away it actually came back to life.
I'm sort of surprised DF didn't immediately demolish the barn... Or at least marry the barn and then divorce it.

IIRC, you can't. Fruit trees can't be sapped to start with, only mapple, pine and oak tress. And I imagine the tapper would be destroyed if hit.

This is true of normal trees, but fruit trees can't overlap the area of other fruit trees, so you do need minimum two empty spaces between them.
