- NOTE: I did explore all festivals, I just didn't show the boring stuff! Today we have a mod that lets us move wherever we want! So I explore to see what kind of secrets are hiding outside the playable area.. Turns out we can access a few skeletons that say hi. Aside from that there are a few odd things to see. If anyone has any places that need exploring let me know! Stardew Valley gameplay with my commentary as always.

My favorite is when you were doing the marriage experiments. And you pelted your fiance with a slingshot until they hated you to see if the marriage would still follow through.

I always feel sad that the mountain isn't included in the vanilla game, I think it has the potential to be really beautiful

Reminds me of those text boxes from NPCs saying something like "you shouldn't be here, please report this to the programers." Or something similar. I'm pretty sure that happened in the original paper Mario game.

You should teleport to festivals before they are set up
Doggins nothing would happen. You would either A.) Spawn at the festival and have it act normly. B.) You spawn in the town. Im most likely guessing A
Actually I use teleport to town by cjb at egg fest it just crashes
You could do this in vanilla only for the luau and dance of the moonlight jellies.

I feel like what happened with those textures, like the whole Joja to Hat Mouse thing, was that they were maps from previous versions of Stardew Valley. When you transfer to a festival map it isn't the regular town map with decorations, its an entirely new place, and the festivals were probably added at different times in development meaning different map configurations. Since you were never meant to see those places, ConcernedApe probably didn't bother changing them.
I can confirm this with an experiment of my own. Placed some crab pots on the beach, the day before the festival, they were missing during it, but reappeared after, still full.
The devs barricaded the events due to laziness.
Well the pots wouldn't be there because it's a different map entirely, I believe. That's why things would be different outside the boundaries on festivals than in regular play. You wouldnt see the pots because you're in a different place. If anything it shows how dedicated he is to the game. It would have been easier to just add temporary sprites, but he went all out with programming an entirely different space.
he copy pasted a map, and *forgot* to redesign it for the new events, so instead he just made barricades, that's laziness 101. copy pasting a map and simply swapping them out for events, is easy and requires almost nothing. I've tried to make indie games before, I know how it works.
I see what you mean, but playing devil's advocate here, I've made events for Stardew Valley before, and switching maps compared to adding sprites is fairly similar in difficulty. Not to mention you're at a festival where people would gather together, so why bother having all of that extra space. It also seems like the festivals were added during different times in development not in one large block. He might not have known if he was going to keep them at all and seeing how they aren't hugely important to the game he just forgot the outside, and running low on time just barricaded us in and left it at that. I agree that they could have been changed to fit the current town, but since the only way to get there is to cheat I don't see a reason why it would be an issue.

I actually remember that mountain path now that you mention it. I got the game shortly after release and I remember trying to go up it and was told that it was going to be added in a later update.
If I am correct you could to talk to the animals (not Linus) in the Stardew Valley Fair,but you can't reach them. You could try using mods to talk to them, same mod that you used to talk to the skeletons maybe.

I don’t know why, but when you tried to see if the skeletons were potential love candidates and found out they weren’t, I was relieved, like “oh, thank god” as if they had been spared having to go through a divorce with you
I know ConcernedApe is focusing on other gaming interests now, but I can't help but to hope he'll eventually release and update to SDV where we get these hinted at places.

is it possible to make a mod that u can plant several crops in the 1 space? and they grow inside each other? if so that would be kind of interesting and funny to see, not that's it useful
I don't know how the game is implemented, but it will most likely be impossible.

I'm not sure how concerned app went about this specifically, but the reason the jojamart was replaced with other tiles is most likely because, for the spirits Eve festival, the game uses a specific tile set and if I'm correct he replaced the jojamart with the cage or bush parts and I think the game chose some random tiles to replace it.

the area in the secret woods, you need to use the part by the entrance and find the hole to go through. its like down, right, down
Hey what do the animals say at the fair? I noticed they have speech bubbles over them when you hover your mouse over them, but you can't reach them...

the townsfolk look on in disbelief and horror as DF starts crab-walking-flying over the water while scooping up the jellyfish. they knew there was something odd about him because occasionally he would disappear for a couple of centuries. mayor lewis eventually says "GET HIM" and all the townsfolk start running or rolling after him. he makes it to the witch hut and erases all of there memories, and then turn all the jellyfish into jelly, which pierre steals and sells as his own. but the townsfolk wonder every year why there are no more jellyfish.

What if you try to talk to the animals in the stardew valley fair? Also you can get out of the map in that festival without mods too.
There should be an update in vanilla that lets you build extra paths through stuff like the secret woods and the bus stop to the mountains

:33 I learned around a month ago that you can catch iridium fish by that rock, even at level 0 fishing, there is a similar place in the cindersap forest if you fish at a specific spot in the river, it can be reached from either bank.
You might have been able the day adter the dance in spring to go back to that area. It's normally blocked but maybe if you can get back there during non festival? I am not sure if you did try and it just wasn't in the video.

Things like this are because you need to write code every time you make a new instanced place like a fesitival sometimes they only write certain parts of the code. It’s fun to see what they did put in for these areas though

You can leave the Stardew Valley Fair normally, you know. There’s a part of the fence by the barbecue that has no collision, so you can walk right out.
My guess for why the Spirit's Eve layout is so weird:
The festival maps are completely separate from their basic counterparts, so the weird house and complete lack of Joja things suggests that the SE map was created before Joja was a thing. It would make sense...the creator was going for a Harvest-Moon-but-better thing and the storyline always felt tacked on. I'm assuming Joja came along very late in development to provide a simple, unintrusive narrative for context.
That’s exactly how the festivals are coded. Also, Joja was added later on just as you said.

I saw a Reddit post that someone proposed to Sebastian and within the three days prep time for the wedding the spirits eve festival started and he had a special line talking about a skeleton ring bearer. Maybe the other npc's have special lines for events that happen during their engagement?
If you fish within the stones surrounding the lonely rock it gives you only silver gold and Iridium star fish
Should have checked the ladder at Willy's shop. The game won't let you go up there, but maybe there is an unused room up there if you clip through.
The door above Pierre’s shop goes to Harvey’s house. To get there you go through the double doors at the back of the hospital
so i have the jump mod, i originally got it so i can just jump over fences without having to go around the gates every time. but it has a side effect of letting you go to places where you shouldnt be like inside water, through doors and etc.
i tried it on the casino guy and it glitched and then he started bombing me fortunately with no damage. i completed mr qi's quest and now hes still there blocking me and even if i jump over him the casino is bugged out
