Welp! Thanks for explaining clearly! We've had issues with our toilet for YEARS and our landlord does not care about fixing it at all. The bucket test HAS worked though so now I know there's something we might be able to do to fix it. I hope it can, otherwise we will look into replacing it or getting professional assistance, it's really frustrating 🥲 but thanks again for this video!
very helpful video. Thanks, my toilet is working now
Glad I could help you.
Thank you so much for the comment and watching.
Thank you for taking the time to help people.
I like to help if I can thank you for the comment and watching.
Thanks for this bucket test , it helped me to know where the problem was, mine was below ⬇️
Thanks for the comment glad to help
Thank for the shout out Kevin and I don`t have problems with my toilets but I had in the past 12 houses that I use to rent out and guess who they called when the toilet did not flush.....CHEERS
I bet you loved it and have seen a lot of problems.
Ya now it`s quiet and that`s the way I like it....all thats left is the house and the camp.....that`s it...no more phone calls.....CHEERS
I had a lawn care business for 20 years also did handyman work I would get calls all hours day or night but know more.
We need help😂 brand new install (diy) won't flush
How this started was after the hurricane everytime it flush would feel the floor with water.
Since the toilet was 24 years old we opted for a new toilet today and went and got it installed it won't flush at all now. When the sink runs it was large glug, glug, glugaur bubbles in toilet. Now it just fills up the toilet basin with water. Is the system blocked? What to do?
I'm sure your sewer line is plugged somewhere.
@@Robinson-Homestead yes sure must be but we can't find the clean out it's buried here somewhere
Very good information Kevin! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching Paul.
Flushes sometimes most of the time tho it just keeps filling up with more water. Till it overflows. Have tried cleaning pipe that goes towards street in my crawl space. Took toilet off floor and snaked that pipe also. Have checked for calicum no clog there . Replaced wax seal. Still barely flushes and when does not alot of power to the flush ..
I have the same problem.
Figure out what it is ?
Could be the siphon jet or hard water. Turn off water to toilet after draining and dry
Pour vinegar into water outtake of toilet tank. You can seal small jet holes under the rim with duct tape but drain and dry toilet thoroughly.
Let the vinegar stand for at least sixty minutes. Remove duct tape from under rim.
Clean tiny holes just under the toilet bowls rim. Gently poke the holes with a thin wire.
Sihon jet pushes water front-bottom of bowl and into the back hole to the sewer. Clean that. Flush.
May have to snake a clog in the trap! to get the siphon jet really powering that poop where it needs to go!.
The trap is the double bend under the bowl which reserves a level of water. It keeps methane and odor from coming In to your house. No p u.🙊🙉🙈🙃🤗🧐🤔🗽🇺🇸😇🥰
Good video ! Too much snow on your roof might block your vent pipe too.
That is a very good one you are right George.
Appreciate you kev!
Thank you so glad to help.
You saved the day, thank you!!
Glad I could help!
A good tutorial on getting rid of #1 and especially #2.
The most important chair in the house Ron.
how come after the bucket test , the toilet doesn't fill up in your video?
Maybe the water was off not sure thanks for the comment.
So I've had this problem twice with my toilet, basically when I try to flush it, it just fills up with water and then literally dries up. If it dries up, it probably means it's not clogged right? But why does it keep filling up and almost overflowing? Should I try the bucket thing?
Thank you so much, I saved on getting a new toliet
Glad to help thanks for watching.
my bucket test just filled the bowl with water! no flushing action
You have a plugged pipe.
How do you get rid of hard water in commode?
Great video, very detailed and informative!
Thank you for the comment Dark Horse.
Also if you have recently changed the flushing system in your toilet check that you do not have a double trap toilet. If you have one of these a conventional toilet flush will make it look like your toilet is blocked.
Thanks for the comment John.
Good Video...I have a toilet that I installed in my shop bathroom that came out of a friends home. It flushes slow (12 seconds) and sometimes requires two flushes. I poured water in it slowly to find where it would start to run through the trap. When filling it does not fill quite to that line. When I pour water through as you did in the video, it flushes like yours did. Inside the tank it fills to the manufacturers water line mark every time. The flapper chain is adjusted properly and seems to be working as it should. There is no sign of calcium buildup and all jets are open. I'm at a loss where to go next.
Can you adjust it to fill up more than the manufacturers line try that.
Thanks oh buddy we all need to know stuff like that G-man out
I am just glad to help if I can G-man.

Thank you for your video. I've done the bucket test and the water exists but very slow. We have also snaked the toilet but no clog has been found. If the water exists slowly do you think it's a clog or could it be the actual toilet? Any help would be appreciated.
Jennifer, it could be the ventilation pipe or the pipe going to septic system i know this is late but hope it helps.
Snake it hard! Get a friend!
Here’s a tip that worked 4 me! If the siphon jet hole is restricted & not working properly. Manually remove enough buildup to get an opening started, remove water from tank & bowl, then wedged a tennis 🎾 in the exit hole (be careful that it won’t go in where you can’t pull/retrieve it out (my tennis ball was the perfect size). I then poured 20% vinegar, to dissolve the remaining buildup upon soaking overnight.
Good tip thanks
Cool! Will try that tennis ball! I think there is something in the trap.
I just moved into a new condo. (I was renting it out previously.) I received a call right before I moved in from the previous tenant that the toilet would not flush - despite plunging non-stop. I called a plumber and he changed the entire toilet -- new wax ring and toilet hardware. Anyway, long story short, both of my toilets go down SO slowly. I have poured hot water, used dish soap, plunged for hours and nothing will fix the issue on either toilet. I have never seen toilets act like this, ever. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Austin, did you try checking out the vent pipe it might not be getting enough air .
@@Robinson-Homestead I think you're right. I have not been on the roof. I am part of an HOA - I think it might be incumbent upon them to look into this. Thanks!
😤
We pay a sewer and water tax, but when I called a plumber he couldn't find any record of it? The sewer is charged as a percentage of water used. Also when it rains the yard between the house and street gets water logged.
Going to pour some white vinegar in bowl overnight... Going to check jets above first... Check back in morning 🚽 -fun!
Thank you let me know.
@@Robinson-Homestead going to have to plunge it -bah!
I need help my toilet will not flush I purchased a new toilet in 2017 and it worked fine for four years and after that it would not flush there is no clogs vent is clear on roof I purchased another new toilet in 2021and it still will not flush.
We were having trouble with our last toilet not flushing. We had the toilet for a few years and decided to put in a *NEW* toilet. I installed it. Everything in the main pipe looking down, it all looked A OK. So when I put in the new toilet, It flushed beautifully. I felt accomplished. But then the next morning, it started looking like it was clogged again. I feel like a huge failure. Please give me some info on what could be going on here?
Please. Any help is appreciated.

if not let me know AYBABTU.
Mine won’t flush at all I tryed a to sneak it to. Also did not work
Did you try pouring water in the commode?
I pour three gallons of water in my toilet and is flushed but slowly do I have something in my pipes?
do you have septic or city sewage? you might have something in a pipe, the air vent might be plugged, or your tank might need cleaned.
Just bought a new home and the bottom floors toilets are being flushed but water does not go down. Brand new home and there is a spot where the water is coming up in front yard when we flush and also to the house they are building next door. I've already called the plumber and they say it might be a city issue. Need advice.. I've already tried the baking soda and vinegar.. boiling water.. plunger as well.. the upstairs toilet flushes fine but the bottom 2 are the issue. I used a bucket of water and the water still stays in toilet.
sounds like it's a city issue to me.
The pipes from the street to your house or the meter is your responsibility. But that varies I suppose from town to town.
When I flush my toilet, I have to hold the handle down for quite a long time in order for the toilet to flush and even then sometimes it will not.
Sound like not enough water but i not for sure good luck.
i did all the other things to in removing toilet and flushing manually and it works but when i place it back down it does not flush

I have a question. I had EcoFlush B8106S when you flush it, it a loud flush. So i wanded to change over to the standard system. Took out the EcoFlush and install the Fluidmaster From Lowes. Now It not flushing. Water don't even go down the hole and the flap would stay open even if the chain not on the handle. Think you could help with this?
I would have to see something like that to figure it out sorry.

You could try a snake in it.
@@Robinson-Homestead got it fixed main line was blocked ty
Brand new toilet. BRAND new. Installed correctly. Worked fine for 2 weeks. Now I can pour water in and it flushes but won’t flush on its own. Jets are clean no time for them to be blocked again BRAND NEW TOILET. So what’s going on
Vent pipe or sewage line.
The toilet doesn't flush at all, nothing happens when I push the handle down. The only way I can get it to flush is to pour water down the bowl, What is it ? Please help.
Is the chain hook to the flapper
yes it is
@@MrTommy516 if you pull up on the flapper will it flush and is it full of water back there?
Toilet is not flushing, even if you pour water in commode. Maybe , we need a new commode.
It's in the pipe going to the Sewer or your septic tank.
My 1st floor toilet is the problem, 2nd floor is good...would that eliminate the vent problem? I've pulled the toilet, snaked down through...nothing. Threw baking soda and vinegar down following a bucket of hot water. let it sit and then poured a huge bucket of water down, goes right through. Still need to check the tank water level once toilet is reset. I have the black screw on the valve as high as it will go and water level is still 1" 1 1/2 below level
Actually, you have your floors backwards...your 1st floor toilet is fine while the problem is with the lower floor. The 1st floor is where you enter through the front door, and your basement is the 2nd floor. Most ranch style or split entry homes are set up this way. A split entry has stairway right as you enter the home that leads up to the main (1st floor), and another stairway leading to the basement (2nd floor). A ranch style home will usually have a small stairway leading to the front door and you simply enter into the main floor, and there will be a stairway somewhere in the home leading to the basement. The issue is likely a blocked mainline, which is either cleared by way of a cleanout, or if no cleanout exists, then you need to clear it via the vent pipe(s), which poke through the roof.
Thanks for that. In CA be we had a "crawl space" no basement. Same for the attic.
Mike moat not flushing very good have to pour hot water down and get the flesh
thanks for watching, you could try some liquid drano.
Drano down a toilet is a no no@@Robinson-Homestead
I’ve done everything I can think of, and my toilet is still not flushing properly. So frustrating

Huh????
Both of our toilets have problems flushing when it rains. Any ideas?
Do you have a septic tank or public sewage?
Kevin Robinson lol
I have been told it is on a sewer, but I can't tell for sure.
