God is so hard to decide on an amp when so many of them sound SO GOOD. I guess that's why in the end people just start collecting amps. They all have their own "thing".

Totally agree. The one amp that sticks out in my experience as being able to do everything from crunch to rock to hard rock to metal to death horror doom metal is the Randall Diavlo. Most companies are doing these 20/5/1 watt series is so that we can all collect instead of blowing our life savings on 1 amp.

Yea i have this amp and ive went through 3 other amps (modeling amps) peavey vyper 75, line 6 spider 2, positive grid spark 40, and i just wasnt happy with my metal tone or my chugs i should say. So i said screw it im getting a high gain tube amp. This amp the peavey 6505 mh seemed like a good place to start. I got the head and the matching 1/12 cab for 500$ then spent a few hundred more on a boss ns2 noise suppressor and a ibanez ts9dx tube screamer, and a peavey footswitch to change the channels off of reverb. Now i love my tone and i dont feel the need to look for another amp. I really like this amp and highly recommend it to anyone who is into high gain stuff. If you are into any style of metal i think you can find a tone youll like out of this head.

@@codysroom6303 I think this will be my next amp. A private seller near my is offering the head and matching 2x12 cab for only $500. After two years of gigging with a Boss Katana 100W head (run direct to PA), I'm tired of using the Boss ToneStudio software to dial in the virtual pedals; the process is tedious at best. I've had the Blackstar HT-20RH MkII, HT Club 40 MkII, Bugera G20 Infinium (never again, Bugera!) and Marshall DSL20RH. I found the Blackstar overdriven tones were voiced too dark, and the Marshall's "clean" tones were too gritty. As someone who plays mostly classic metal and hard rock, I'm thinking the 6505MH will be my Goldilocks amp--not exceptional at any one thing (except maybe portability), but "just right" for most of what I need it to do.

Notes about the 'One Song' series:
The idea for the 'One Song' series came about when I was trying to come up with a cool idea for my next EPIC/MEGA amp comparison with around 30 amps. So I came up with the idea of writing a song in multiple styles that would do a good job of 'testing' the versatility of an amp. It would start clean and end with metal. And I thought it could be interesting to use multiple guitars, so one for each section. Then I realised that it would be cool to release each amp's video individually first and when I'm all done I'll upload a compilation that would essentially be similar to all my other mega comparisons, including all the timecodes etc. This will be called: 'One Song, 30 Amps!'.
So that's the plan basically! However, I'm also planning on running the song through some modeling platforms to also demo those and see how well they can work with all the material in the song.
I've chosen to NOT use the same IRs for each segment this time because I want to use cab tones that the amps are 'comfortable' with. So don't view this as a direct comparison of the amps per say, but view it as an amp showcase that also allows you to hear how the amps function inside the song or inside the music, of course in comparison to one another in that sense! This will showcase the uniqueness of the amps more, which is more fun imho, and it also allows me to be a little bit more creative when reamping each amp. Plus: some of you guys will say 'they all sound the same' anyway and the different cab sounds will make the amps sound more interesting and unique!
For the metal segment I'll very likely use a boost pedal for most of the amps, just so you metalheads or djentheads can hear how a downtuned baritone with a boost sounds with the amp.
Anyway, I hope you guys will enjoy this series and I hope I made the song interesting enough to listen to it a couple times (because I don't expect anyone to watch all 30 or more amp videos lol).
    -Jon

      @demetreio 3 роки тому

@@Joseandresyanes Hi! technically, you can still get clean tones, but they will get easily distorted as soon as you hit the strings a bit harder, so turning the volume down on the guitar would do the trick. But generally, even if you get clean sound out of this amp, it's not going to be like something you would get from a fender tweed for example.
In this video I am using 6505mh through a harley benton cab with 2 V30 speakers (speakers will also have a lot to do with the tone) and it's recorded with a room mic, it's ever so slightly overdriven:

I don’t own, but I have tried the Engl fireball 25 and that think rocks! Check out the PRS Mt15 as well, the thing has full size power tubes and the clean channel sounds absolutely lush. I do prefer a mini lunch box which has completely independent EQ controls for each channel though, hence why I went for the Mesa. This demo is very near to real sound of 6505mh. Clean and crunch are great, but lead is too fuzzy. After my orange dark terror i can't use lead channel on 6505.

I haven't had that fizzy issue with mine. I have this head and play it more than my 3k Marshall head. Maybe your settings were just wrong or bad speaker match? I don't know.

@@warrenmooney9422 maybe! I use orange 1*12 cab with V30. Original cab is less woofy and less bass

@@Alexei-ex8gq I run mine thru a Marshall 4x12 cab in the 1 watt mode usually.

I heard that this amp can’t do clean tones. How did you achieve this?

So I'd still need a pedal to play metal? That sucks.

Thanks for the review. Wich mini head is better for metal on your opinion? Talking about 15 to 30 watts for a 2x12 cabin. Thanks

When the speaker defeat is engaged I read you can't turn off the inbuilt cab sim. Does the FX send still output a signal with speaker defeat on? and presumably the fx send wouldn't have any cab sim on?
