"E-Standard-Thrash-Riffs" sounds like heaven to me. ❤️
you had me at "..i record them with a simple sm57 setup directly into my interface and i give you guys the unprocessed audio that way you guys get the most real-world feel for how this stuff will sound," and THAT is a direct quote!
Haha! Dems my words!
I guess the only issue for me would be that my ears are not an Sm57 mic. I like to hear blended room mics for a realistic tone.
@@dickieraddpay the man and maybe he will address your preference/concern. Otherwise, it's a free service so quicherbichin
@@bradatherton9369He's just giving a realistic opinion on how we "hear" gear on UA-cam. If UA-cam itself wasn't an issue in compression/eq, there's so many other variables too, Especially what you're listening to it on at home*. Big difference between earbuds, decent monitors, high end studio quality over ear cans, etc.. However I agree with you regarding this man's demos. He's doing an incredible demo and seems honest in trying all he can to provide us with some inkling of what we may get with our hard earned 💸. ❤
@@dickieraddwhat you're listening to this with at home is probably just as significant
awsome sound, finally bought this amp a few months ago sold my valvking 100 head, for this because I wasn't playing in bands as much. definitly sounds good with a boost pedal in the front, and an eq in the loop.
👍🏻
Thank you for your honest demos of gear. Most of the time you only hear it's "praises"
And most likely in a polished, well produced recording that won't reflect it's "in the room" sound. 🙌 stay real ❤
I love this thing I see no issues with the tones ive achieved with it
Using mine for a lead sound on the 1-watt setting, where the pre-amp gain sings, and the EL84’s compress nicely to provide a pinched mid-range focus. Cheers~
Nice demo Kyle........I see people going ON and ON and ON and ON about the smaller tubes vs larger ones ------- WE GET IT, the bigger tubes will sound better/bigger when cranked but the purpose of this amp is for lower volume playing and smaller jams!!...... No 1 is saying sell the big amp for these lol, but these clearly serve a purpose, its a really good practice and backup rocking machine, it sounds damn good in most demos and for the $$ its a no brainer for thrash rocking riffs... Im just happy that guitar players have SO MANY choices these days, thats a great thing!!
PS ...... Is that Sandy McCarthy (ex NHL player/enforce) on the shirt??
Awesome video as always! I've never had any trouble being heard running a small tube amp through at least a 2x12 though. Even when compared to my friends 100 watt 4x12, mine still cuts through fine. If you had to play super loud it would be an issue, but I mic it up at big venues or run ir's straight in. Keep up the good work!
The amp sounds great ,Its his playing that is ???? ?? ,And he dont know how to dial in an amp.
Proud owner of this lil beast. \m/ 100dB+ possible with just a 2x12, by the way.
I picked one up open box for $450 at the pawn shop. Enjoyed playing it stock. I installed v1 tung sol 5751, v2 v3 baldwin 12ax7, EHX el84 power tubes. Now i love it modded. More versatile especially with an EQ in the loop. Nice reverb too.
Do ehx el84 make any difference compared to JJ el84?
@graemedixon6314 as far as tone goes, no not really. The only difference I noticed was the EHX tubes were less brittle in the highs. I've had JJs in a couple of different amps and they always seem to be shrill and piercing. That's my ears though. It all comes down to personal preference.
Love the content Kyle 👌
6:26 didn’t know Matt Damon plays metal, damn
I really enjoy the 6505 mh. I’m having a hard time in choosing between the 6505, Mt15 or invective
Did you decide?
This thing sound awesome. Super chunky deliciousness. It’s all balls.
Love the hatebreed riffs in drop C
Hey new subscriber here. Great videos and great playing mate. Adding an EQ in the fx loop helps this amp so much. Anyways, I took your advise and ordered a set of 5751 tubes for v1 and v2. Can't wait to try them out. Keep the videos coming!
Nice man, they clean up the amp's over the top gain very well, hope you dig!
Any difference between this and the 6505mh with the big 6505 logo?
7:58 lol....
The smaller EL84 tubes simply can't compete with the bigger El34/6L6's when it comes to low end.
I've heard you can put an eq in the loop to help but I didn't bother when I had mine, I just got a bigger amp
@@AD1978leo It's just a tiny transformer thing. It literally chops the bass. I have VHT based 10 watt el84 amp, but I've made a trick - put it in the corner of the room and that amplifies bass a bit. It worked for me.
Can guarantee 95% of people can't tell the difference and the other 4% either only know once its pointed out or have to physically hear both sides by side to nitpick then there's the 1% who probably own the original 6505+ and can hear the difference
Really like ur channel but i just made the same review on my channel yesterday with my 6505mh and mesa cab.
Awesome video!
The tones are just great! Love that amp!
You way to hold the pick and your right hand tecnique reminds me a lot Mile Petroza from Kreator! Do you like Kreator?
Id love to see your review on Marshall DSL20!
Cheers from Portugal 🍺🤘🇵🇹
Are we gonna see the Invective MH??
Awesome content, great Chanel! Thank you for that 😊👍
Thank you!!
Kyle do a comparison of affordable cabs like the Laney Irt212!
Kyle you gotta try and get an ENGL fireball 20 or Ironball 20 on here and do a review!
Ironball really surprised me, and I was just playing the combo too!
@@yessitsme6884 I’m debating between the ironball and a mark v 25
Curious to see if my thoughts change after the video. I only played one a couple times, but generally liked it. Thought it had an uncontrollable amount of drive, felt either like double the gain of the original or like it was just less tight. I liked it, but not enough to buy it over some other things.
I use a "Timmy" overdrive pedal to actually drop the gain by dropping the output on the pedal and the drive. Works great this way.
wish it had full size 6l6 gc's instead of el34's
Excellent review. I thought it was just me. Gain is basically unusable after two. Shrill, fizzy, and thin. But I still enjoy black winters with a fortin 33 in front.
So how tight do you like your “low end” again? 😂😂😂 Actually laughed out loud when you said that. I need help lol
Thanks for the great content brotha
Lol me too ! I can appreciate a nice tight bottom and also a thicker looser one too long as it’s got a nice shape and rhythm. You know not really long saggy and out of control or nothing .
@@brandonjackson5865 😂😂😂
@@brandonjackson5865 sounds very dirty 😂
I went to a riot and a Blood for Blood show broke out.
You should add the Invective MH to your list...then do a shoot out between it and the 6505 MH.
DO NOT BUY mine quit working after 6 months and my guitar techs stopped working a little over a year. Their costumer support is basically non existent. DO NOT BUY
If I could be so bold as to make a suggestion, and this is not a criticism at all. Some of these amps are slower in attack and have lower slew rates so the highs can get fuzzy mushy, which I have noticed especially in your very fast chug-a-chug-a picking. The good part is the increase in harmonic richness and saturated coloration, that's the payoff. Consider that solid state amps are all-attack and hence sound dry and clicky, at least to some ears. This is not a shortcoming of the amp if the highs muddy a little, it's natural in lower attach>lower slew. High frequencies change in amplitude the fastest so it's more noticeable there. It's not a problem with the amp, it's just a feature. A buffer pedal on the end of your chain, if you don't have one already, would at least have the same amount of audio data hitting at the same time, especially if you have a long pedal chain.
Better the guitar in stereo.
I saw black dahlia murder live they were playing these heads so idk maybe you aren’t vining with it right but they can definitely sound mean as hell
hey Kyle, what position did you place those 5751 tubes in? would't have been better to replace all three preamp tubes?
Only V1 and V2 affect the gain level of the preamp, the PI 12ax7 will not have an affect on this.
@@belligerentamateur thanks man! I am considering changing the tubes in my 6505 mh, I didn't know about the PI position, great advice as usual!
I'm not sure if it's just the way it's recorded but it sounds thin in the video and slightly on the dark and hairy side when you're in the bridge, which could just be the pickups in the Schecter .
How are you running the pedals through the FX loop or into the Amp input? Great video btw! If you answered this I apologize.
Matt Damon?
I really like mine. Sounds a tad small on its own but sits very nicely in a mix
Sounds awesome.. Love mine.. Rock On
...but the invective...is it better? But then again, it's pretty damn cheaper
i got the same les paul studio 1996
this is the second best MH review on youtube
Next time could you please consider those of us subscribers who are are into free form Avante Garde Prog Jazz....😉
Any Death/Black metal guitarist using this?
It's incredibly easy to dial in a nice clean tone on this thing, dont really understand why you're having a hard time with that lol
right? It's almost like 99% of the people who have owned and played this amp and think the cleans are poopoo are just being contrarian!
@belligerentamateur 99% of guitarists in particular are running on "vibes" and not scientific minded research
@@belligerentamateur try a speaker not designed for metal if you don't like your clean tone lol, just because the amp has a shit load of gain doesn't mean you can't wind it back, if you'd like a louder clean tone then you can use a higher wattage head, for a bedroom volume level the 6505mh has enough headroom to get juicy cleans, I know because I tried and succeeded, what everyone else says is just noise
its
I had a 6505mh and just could not get what I wanted out of it. VERY close, but no cigar. Traded it in on the big brother and BOOM. That was what I needed. Add a two notes captor to attenuate a bit and it is easily my most played head. \,,/
I played that amp in real life through an ENGL 412 instead. I also own the mesa 212 so Iam allowed to say that for me that amp sounded way better through the engl box. For that price all your metal needs will be satisfied guys. This amp does brutal, harsh and tight metal tones and the clean channel is also ok. You wont need any shit pedals (which Iam personally not a fan of except maybe noise gates or 1 booster in some cases)
you had me at belligerent armature musicians
That Blood for Blood shirt took me back to the old school hardcore days. Lol and the Hatebreed riff.
The widening and space between his index finger and ringfinger is just astonishing. Looks so uncomfortable.
I’ve never noticed that but yeah it looks that way . I think how tucks his middle finger, instead of using the bird shooting/California Howdy technique I employ . I bar the two higher strings with my pinky too . I saw Hetfield fretting bar chords with his pinky and thought it looked cool so I started doing it that way now it’s habit. My pinky was useless before that. It’s not like hulk or nothing now but I think doing it helped me include my pinky more in playing in general . That’s what’s so cool about guitar everyone’s technique is different. It does look like he could handle some wicked stretch licks
To me the Peavey Invective MH sounds much better. I never tried this one, but it needs definitely an overdrive to sound decent.
Sick Solo-6 Blackjack SLS Hell's Gate!
Finally... no review for KSR ceres?
Awesome playing too 🎉
Had one.. didn't like it that much.
Sik riffs dude
Thanks!
I am not a fan of el84's either.
Just sold mine. Weak in the knees.
hi kyle! i can say that you have THE BEST TONE in the entire UA-cam universe. your sound are just so great, tight, clear, dan CONSISTENT! you're even better than that one famous amp reviewer from europe. you give us a real honest review, real identification, and not just some funny bullshit and un-detailed review like any other youtuber, you're just simply the best!
anyway i have a VERY SERIOUS question about 6505 mh. so recently, I decide to buy this amp because of your review. it's a hell of a great hi gain amp. i love it so much, but i have this particular problem, i am also a big fan of BRITISH HI GAIN, especially marshall and laney's sound. is there any chance so i could TWEAK my 6505 to sound like them BRITISH SOUND? i'm chasing the that percusive attack, and that clarity from british beast sound. what should I do in your opinion? is adding just OD and EQ in the front enough to get that character? Thanks in advance, YOU ARE MY HERO!
Yep, get a 10 band eq from the loop and you'll be able to get it there!
@@belligerentamateur GOT IT MASTER! So it was the power amp that need to be tweaked. THANKS ALOT KYLE!
Belligerent amateur musicians
I'd like to hear that d77 with evh stealth 🤘
I have the classic 20 version of this amp. It's amazing! Put an overdrive in and it sounds exactly like this, but can do classic rock tones really well. It has the same gain structure as this amp.
I was pretty impressed by the Classic 20 myself . It was like a fender tweed clean but actually had a great mid to moderate gain Marshall like crunch . I think those little classic 20s are severely under rated . They would be perfect for anything Skynyrd to 80s thrash and glam with a nice boost.
Love your videos buddy. I've had this amp for about 2 months and can't get it to sound good.ive tried a cheap overdrive pedal with no luck so I was hoping you could lead me to the right pedal for this amp. I like the idea about a pedal with a built in noise gate.
I'm about ready to give up and sell it and buy the Randall 45watt diavlo or the ENGL rockmaster or metal master.
Thanks for any help you can give
Thanks man! Hard to give advice when I don't know what tones you're going for, sorry! Not many overdrives have built in gates. MY suggestion would be grab a few different cheap OD's and a cheaper gate pedal, try the OD's and figure out what you like best, and sell the others.
@@belligerentamateur you think the OD pedal with the built in noise gate would work well with the 6505mh. I play everything mostly in D standard and some drop D
Thanks
This dude says almost the samething (flubby, fizzy, sharp) about everything amp he reviews. If you're looking to buy amps don't use this guy a source. These little 6505's are awesome. If you can't get a good tone out of this amp then you maybe need to go back to amp school.
Do I like "belligerent amateur musicians?" Hell I am one! lol
MY MAN
so flubby lol
The ones we had at our store were nothing like that. You could dime the gain on the lead and it was like a classic rock sound. They sounded like crap to me
Awesome!! Great Video!!
Revv G20 plz :)
hello Kyle! very nice video. you said in this video that you have better amps for bedroom volumes. can I ask which ones? I need something like for this amp for metalcore riffs, but I would like to have british low end for some rock stuff. can you recommend me something pls? thank you many times
Thank you for all your demos ! It looks like your favorite mini head is now the Marshall DSL20H. I get how you feel about the EL84. Between a 6505+ 112 head (combo conversion) and a 6505 MH, do you prefer the 1st option because of the 6L6 ?
Enjoying dis
🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
As someone who owns this amp, I appreciate the review of it. It can definitely be a fight to get the desired tone in this amp. The smallest EQ changes make the biggest difference, for some reason. I do really like the rhythm channel sound with a boost on it (I use the Plumes). The lead channel, I may go as high as 4 - 5 and I always use an EQ pedal with this to tweak things even more. As of this writing, these amps (used) are less than $400 and that's a pretty damn good price when you compare them to other "high output" lunchbox amps like the Victory Kraken, Soldano, Revv, etc... Like you said, no shortage of gain, but it can be a real dogfight to get that balanced, full tone with some good low end, that doesn't sound muddy, that still sounds tight, but not screechy, etc... I hated this head after I got it (in trade) until I really took a step back and worked with it. Overdrive pedal and EQ pedal made big differences for me.
Also, kudos for the local boys (to me) Blood for Blood shirt and nice riffing on Hatebreed's Smash Your Enemies.
Thanks for the heads up man. Was considering getting one but not so sure how it compares to the original 120w. Good to know some non-biased opinions on it.
@@Cam_B As long as you don't need a clean channel this thing will do you quite nicely.
I just bought this mini head amp. I can't live with this amp without an EQ pedal in the loop, it just not scooped enough for my ears. This amp's lead channel + overdrive + EQ in the loop make it so chuggy tight I can play it all day long \m/

EL84 or does he mean EL34???
EL84. It's a small bottle, lower output tubes used in most of these Lunchbox amps
Just put 6l6 tubes in it ?
Your picking hand grosses me out
Good!
Sounds like you have ground loop hum somewhere in your setup
If u aren't shaking the walls what's the point ? Lol
To much talking! Less talking and more presentation of the sound would be nice 😊
Would the mh be loud enough to gig with? I had an idea about using the mh with the speaker cancelation switch activated and running it fx send into a louder power amp into a cab… ?
