As a loyal fan of your channel and a friend i recommend doing a top 10 or 20 count down of these things that you did over the years from worst to best, first it sums up your great research and secondly it's a great service to your fans and followers with the amount of shitty emulation boxes that are thrown in our faces from various companies day in and day out 😁😉❤🙏
Great idea but unfortunately many of the ones I've covered in the past are no longer available. I also don't own a single system that I've reviewed from China. I always sell them after making the video. I don't really play handheld games to be honest. I just can't get in to them like I can with a game console and big TV.
Well you still have your views on each one of them and the high quality multi resolution sources for all your videos, compiling that into a short 10-15 minutes video or even shorter with your final verdict would do your fan base a lot of good since a lot of ppl in the community would benefit from such a count down from some one who actually tried these things, with retro gaming prices going up everyday and the number of horribly designs emulation boxes that are creeping up everyday on kickstarter this would be very intresting.
My friend and I have this acquaintance on YT who has a Southern accent and bought a knock off Cool Baby NES classic. We crack up when he goes, COOOO BABAYYYY! With such enthusiasm. They do look pretty decent!
I have one of these! It was so tempting due to the large screen and low price. Plus it supported original Gameboy games, something that many of my other consoles couldn't do. The good and bad news is that you get what you pay for. PROS: - Big, beautiful screen that feels better than it has any right to be - Inexpensive - Plays a large number of emulator formats - Entertaining to explore and mess around with for hours - Surprisingly feature rich interface - Built in memory allows you to add ROMs without wasting an SD Card - Good amount of goodies in the box. Like an actual charger! CONS: - Nothing (and I mean NOTHING) runs at full speed - Soft plastic feels like a 50 cent toy whistle from a vending machine - Crashes a LOT. You may occasionally need to perform a factory reset to restore functionality, - Super Mario Bros is the PAL version causing the timer to run way too fast - Nearly as big as a Nintendo Switch - It's a toy, not a serious emulation device
I think it's fun for adults too! You just have to understand that it won't be a serious device for emulation. As long as you look at it as a disposable income purchase for a toy, you're in good shape. :) BTW, I actually tried to use those headphones out of curiosity. Turns out the cable isn't long enough to be usable. Unless you're okay with holding the console an inch from your face! :p
Hello mate, I'm wondering why you don't turn auto focus off when you're showing a product. Since you'll be showing the item at essentially the same distance it would prevent the camera from struggling to stay focused. Just a tip...this is my method when doing un-boxings or product reviews. But...! I love your content, one of the few that I still respect and share with my retro community. Thanks for sharing.! Keep It Retro ..! (Even though it was a tine screen when selecting "normal" mode, it looked sharper and I would've liked to see if it helped with frame rate.)
Good call on the auto focus. I did have it off for filming the screen though. When playing with the standard screen setting it unfortunately doesn't help with the frame rate. It's still just as bad.
i remember working on a factory and saw someone playing this "psp" clone on break time and i got curious.. so i ask the guy WTF is that? and he said to my face its called PSP.. and then i was like: ohhhhh.. then the next day i brought my psp 3000 and ask him to play NBA2K together and his reaction was priceless..
I have the same x9 console and I was wandering if it is possible to remap the keys and how. All it does for me (or I have found so far ) is to show the mapping of the keys but not change them and it annoys me that they have mapped the L and R buttons of the GBA to the X and Y buttons on the X9 console and not on the shoulder triggers. Very informative video btw, I had no idea it could play SNES and NeoGeo!
As far as I'm aware you just push left and right on the joy pad to change the button mapping. That's how it worked on other devices like this. I have to admit that I never tried it on this device.
That actually looks half-decent. Much better than the terrible PXP3 thing that I own. I like the fact that you can add your own games to your handheld too! Thanks for letting us know about it.
Hi! At 11:55 it says at the bottom of the screen dingux commander. So it uses the same cpu and others like the PAP KIII or the Retrogame RS-97? So you can put opendingux firmware on it?
I was actually looking at this in Chinatown yesterday Mark. How did you know bro? It's like you can read minds. 8^) Looks pretty interesting to say the least for me because I actually seen this in person, maybe I'll spend the money on it now after seeing this. 8^) Nice work as always Mark. Keep it up. 8^) Anthony..
Yeah, this is complete crap. I have one and it runs horribly. The input lag is near unplayable, the lag is crazy, the buttons are mushy. Seriously, Save your money.
I bought one for the sole purpose of removing the motherboard and putting a Raspberry Pi 0w inside of it. Basically turning it into a 5" Pi Portable. I removed the volume buttons for a second analog stick and also found out that yes there is only one speaker, but the plastic is molded for a second speaker on the other side. So my Pi 0w converted one will have stereo sound. This is a good option for those who want a nice small portable Pi with a big screen. BTW, I also live in Japan.
Ah, yeah. Good thing to replace the screen. Ibaraki you say. That's quite out there. Pretty far from om where I live in Shimonoseki, right at the very bottom of Honshu.
My unit has tons of MAME roms but toms of duplicate roms too, do you know how to remove it,? can't find/access the folder when ever i plug the console to my pc. The folder just isn't there (not visible)
Some of these devices have hidden folders. Make sure your PC is set to show hidden folders. I don't know how to do this though but a Google search should bring up the answer.
I tried Ninja Cop on my RS-97. Neither gpSP nor ReGBA on OpenDingux 1.3 would run the game, but running on the original firmware, the game ran fine. It ran a bit smoother than the X9 in the video, but still had some frameskipping.
I wish there was some kind of decent knockoff D-pad mold floating around China. :\ Can't say I like the menu system or how the machine operates between ROM types, that could be streamlined. Seems okay but the performance hitches and lack of screen options makes the cheap price seem not quite cheap enough. Room Temperature Baby.
Yeah, the user experience is clunky and does lag. The real killer would be the lack of emulation options as you mentioned. Many of these machines can be hacked with new custom menu systems, better emulators and more options. Sadly I couldn't find a hack for this system.
Ah, the good ol' earlier version, which can't play HD very well, randomly shuts off for no reason, has better games on the starting menu...takes me back. I sure do enjoy my giant X16 nowadays.
@@RetroCore Yeah. You probably don't remember, but I'm Mr. 10 paragraphs per video guy XD they have REALLY done a number on this system since this video. I think you've done multiple reviews on different kinds.
@@RetroCore In fact, yup, I just checked. You've reviewed the X16, which is the newest version of this device here. X6, X9, X12, X16, MP5, MP6, GamePlayer, they're all exactly the same with just minor tweaks. But the X16 is actually the current, most improved (and huge) version. There's an X18 out too, but that's an Android gaming tablet shaped like a bulky red-and-black GPD XD or Nintendo 3DS, so they've either changed the X series or have branched it off into two directions: Android and perhaps future continued variations of this one.
I bought one of this thing 3 weeks ago..and only 1 out of 10 Mp4 video that can actually be played on this thing...the rest of the mp4 video was just "invalid file format"...don't know what's wrong...
They're probably at a bit rate this player can't cope with. Basically the Chinese software on devices like this is awful. I recently reviewed the RS-97. Out of the box it was okay at best but once I'd hacked the firmware and added all western improved apps the RS-97 became a killer handheld. It could play so much more including PlayStation. It now had a lag free interface and much more easy to navigate.
Can you please tell me how does the X9 run classic Gameboy games? Are they as badly stretched as NES games? I know you can change screen size from "fullscreen" to "normal" but that changes it to original resolution which is really small. Is there something like a "normal" upscaled resolution? Thank you.
I'm afarid not. Sounds like your device has very poor SNES emulation. I featured another Chinese product which had the very same issues a while back. If your machine has an options menu for games, see if you can change the frame skipping. Maybe the emulator has frame skipping set to on.
@@RetroCoreunfortunately NO game option like the one in 3ds were you can change the speed. Another thing the for some reason the built-in MAME GAMES on the console, i can't see it when i ever i plug it to pc, i wanna copy it to my phone. But i can't locate the files when plug to the pc. It's hidden for some reason
Could you tell me if I can add games to my X9 using an SD card. I tried GBA and N64 ROMs and neither work. Just says invalid file format. I do not have a computer just android devices. Thanks.
You should be able to. I no longer have this machine so I'm afarid I can't tell you the correct format or where the files should be stored. Connecting it to a PC would help if you can get access to one.
Retro Core Thanks for your help. I have been in contact with the manufacturer who say the files need to be installed rather than copied to SD card. So a computer must be the answer. I have a friend who has one so I will try that method. Thanks again and I love your channel.
The board doesn't have space for extra ram but I guess if the original is desoldered and new compatable ram is added then it could make the world of difference to this device.
They're all pretty much the same thing. The problem is that there are copies of these machines too. So you never know what you'll be getting in some cases.

Well this is clearly a PS Vita styled console, and it does the same thing as most of the similiar consoles. But they still do make the composite video output. Im hoping that in 2018 we can finally get a mini-HDMI console, this solution is not expensive any way by now. They can also get rid of the camera, cause its got no use in 99% cases. The problem is that Im sure the hardware is still the same being used since the PSP knock-offs from 2008, and only the shell begin to differ. The firmware may vary, and personally Id love to install the one that looks similiar to real PSP on my knock-off console. Original Gameboy and Color games should run as well.
Maybe with an extremely high level of hardware understanding. It's like asking an apple phone to run Android. I'm sure the hardware could do it but it would need a lot of knowledge of the hardware to pull it off.
It won't make much difference overall as the emulators on it are not very good. Best to see if there is a hack for it so that you can update the emulators. Ask around on a Dingoo forum.
@@RetroCore I just received the console. I uploaded all my favorite SNES/GENESIS games and they all work fine. Remapping the keys for Genesis is a little weird but got the three buttons to work.
The Ulike console is a good Android based system but its rather rare these days. There's also the RS-97 which is good, especially once its been hacked. Both reasonably cheap.
Welcome to china we are firmly entrenched in the world of 8 bit. I just use my phone for a portable emulator. It's an LG Stylo plus with octo core processor and 2 gigs of ram. Runs everything I've thrown at it even ps1. Its a crime to have Ranger X awesome tunes playing so out of whack. Id pass on any of these you've shown besides the famiclone.
Vasileios I agree it sucks for everything but jrpgs which I love and there are tons of. I have Lunar complete ready to go at the slightest hint of boredom.
Well that rare, cool baby release this kind clone probably its re-branding coz i always see good emulation of cool baby from your video, at least NES game works fine.
You should check out the Coolboy RS-97 (aka "Retrogame"). It's the new cheap chinese hotness with an active dev community hacking up the firmware. It is around $50 and contains similar hardware to the PAP KIII Plus: boards.dingoonity.org/ingenic-jz4760-devices/revo-k101-shell-used-in-another-device/ Check out: www.reddit.com/r/SBCGaming/

Go on Wish.com they have tons of these crappy chinese "game" systems. Do you have any positive recommendations for systems like these?? Thanks, Mark always enjoy your videos!
They're mostly crap if you want a device with solid emulation however next week I'll be showing one system that promises to to be good. It's a bit more expensive than most but it also looks better than most.
bought one to play pokemon. but it doesn't run any of the gen3 pokemon GBA games even though other gba games work. Playing GBC pokemon games work but the save games can be transferred out to PC to trade but the game loads from savestates only, then you cannot put any of the traded save game back in the machine. There is no way to complete the pokedex... Give up

ran-maaaa

Ah, good to know Mark. Can't wait to see it. 8^)
Anthony..
Hello, my console is block. How i reset my console? Thanks
There should be a small hole on the casing. That is the reset switch. Push a small paperclip in to it to press the switch.
Retro Core I can't see the small hole, i see only the microphone
Retro Core, I also have the exact same one of these, but mine is blue and has 16 gigabytes.
Ah, you have the nicer version.
RS-97 is the best cheap handheld to get now
Well this is clearly a PS Vita styled console, and it does the same thing as most of the similiar consoles.
There is actually an Android emulation device like this which does have hdmi out. I did a review of it a while back. It's called the telex Ulike.
Thank you ! Ill be sure to check it out
Can it run psp game? cuz i saw one advertising that it does.
Yeah, I saw that too but this one doesn't. 😕
you cant complain on the prize and its a retro game not nintendo switch so its expected to be not as smooth as branded consoles
Yes 👍 day is the best day of a little
Is there a way to jailbreak this to android so you can use the play store and stuff like that?
Maybe with an extremely high level of hardware understanding. It's like asking an apple phone to run Android. I'm sure the hardware could do it but it would need a lot of knowledge of the hardware to pull it off.
Can you try to make a review on how I really want android on it
No. I have no idea how to do that.
Can you try to link me a video of someone doing it something like that?
Because I really want the google play on it:(
I am waiting for mine and going to load ntsc games because it’s seems these are slow pal games .
It won't make much difference overall as the emulators on it are not very good. Best to see if there is a hack for it so that you can update the emulators. Ask around on a Dingoo forum.
@@RetroCore I just received the console. I uploaded all my favorite SNES/GENESIS games and they all work fine. Remapping the keys for Genesis is a little weird but got the three buttons to work.
do you still have it? and does it still work?
sadly not. I sold this just after completing the video.
The problem isnt with the emulators.. the problem is the processor in the machine.. its underpowered for whats needed of it
I thought it could actually play Tekken 9 from the thumbnail.
Hehe, that's what the Chinese knock off people would want you to think.
Can anyone suggest a better handled emulator console?
The Ulike console is a good Android based system but its rather rare these days. There's also the RS-97 which is good, especially once its been hacked. Both reasonably cheap.
Welcome to china we are firmly entrenched in the world of 8 bit.
I just use my phone for a portable emulator. It's an LG Stylo plus with octo core processor and 2 gigs of ram. Runs everything I've thrown at it even ps1. Its a crime to have Ranger X awesome tunes playing so out of whack. Id pass on any of these you've shown besides the famiclone.
Emulation through touchscreens is a horrible experience even if you have the best phone, thats why people are looking to solutions like this handheld.
Vasileios I agree it sucks for everything but jrpgs which I love and there are tons of. I have Lunar complete ready to go at the slightest hint of boredom.
Vasileios Also Doom 1-2 work well.
You should be able to do PSP and Dreamcast with those specs.
John Jackson which emulators do you use for those?
Does it work with SFC and MD files?
Yes but as you can see in the video, it doesn't work very well.
What system is it?
Windows or android ?
Thanks before 😀
It's neither. It's a customer OS probably based upon the Dingo platform which I believe was Linux based.
Retro Core O.K thanks for your reply
Can this item use touch screen???
I'm afraid not.
Loved the review. Shame about the slowdown on more intensive games.
Next week I'll be showing a much more capable system.
Can it play Final fantasy serie of GBA ?
I'm afraid I never checked those. I don't see why not though.
@@RetroCore thanks you Bro , can anybody know?
Well that rare, cool baby release this kind clone probably its re-branding coz i always see good emulation of cool baby from your video, at least NES game works fine.
I'm also disappointed but this is a true coolbaby item. Looks like they also make junk.
The on off switch says no:off lol
You should check out the Coolboy RS-97 (aka "Retrogame"). It's the new cheap chinese hotness with an active dev community hacking up the firmware. It is around $50 and contains similar hardware to the PAP KIII Plus: boards.dingoonity.org/ingenic-jz4760-devices/revo-k101-shell-used-in-another-device/
Check out: www.reddit.com/r/SBCGaming/
I have one 😀
It will be featured in the next gaming pick ups video next week followed shortly after by a review. It's a pretty good device.
I shoulda known that you were already on it :)
Lol, yep. There's a lot of junk just piled up waiting to be looked at.
Ha well I'm looking forward to it.
*why you didn't play tekken*
I don't like Tekken. I'm more of a Virtua Fighter or Dead or Alive fan.
Retro Core *As A reviewer you can't e biased* . *you have to give a fair chance and try all games & features* otherwise people will have a lot of unanswered questions* 👓
I guess there will be many questions :D
Love me a NO/OFF switch.
Honey turn the TV no
Work emulator of PSP ?
I don't think it does.
Cool video!!!
Is it better than rs 97?
Nope, the RS-97 is much better.
Retro Core awesome because I'm waiting for one in the mail
Bit too crappy for my liking, although i do like those knock offs. But did you not see the Retrospex 32, Mark that plays GBA games a treat.
I don't think I've heard of the Retrospex 32. I'll see if I can track one down. Thanks for the info.
I'll be looking forward to seeing it.
Please need firmware can't you helpme?
Sorry. I don't follow these system after making the video.
big screen :o
Yep, 5 inch.
Top 3 o snap
bought one to play pokemon. but it doesn't run any of the gen3 pokemon GBA games even though other gba games work. Playing GBC pokemon games work but the save games can be transferred out to PC to trade but the game loads from savestates only, then you cannot put any of the traded save game back in the machine. There is no way to complete the pokedex... Give up
Maybe the Pokemon games have some sort of protection on them?
The only reason
All app
#RetroCore Thanks.
You're very welcome.
Wow this is a terrible machine
It is but don't forget that it is cheap.
unless you own one you can't judge how bad it is I actually own a white one and its awesome with tons of games for 30 bucks battery life 5hrs
👌👌!
giuseppe calabrese yup.
not a clone, though. Just (another) generic emulation console. I believe to qualify as a clone it needs to run the original games (i.e. cartridges)
btw, thats an opinion, not a fact - obviously.
You are correct. The title of the video is wrong.
Might be a shit mashine but I like it and wud be happy with it. Great video bro.
It's good for someone on a budget, that's for sure. It may not be perfect but it can provide entertainment.
awful machine, nothing is working properly.
Mark ! where is you trash ! :p
Yahoo Auctions :) Already sold this one to earn money for the next system.
I'm early!
thanks to god i dont buy it i have now refurbished sony psp1000 is 100 times better than this
I think you made the right decision buying the PSP over this.
@@RetroCore yes
