    We all know Arthas has made the good choice by purging Stratholme and rushing through Northrend. He sacrificed his honor for his people.
    If only he didn't pick Frostmourne, we could have done it with the mighty power of whosyourdaddy.

      It was best choose no doubt
      Not picking frostmourne but sailing to northrend without knowing anyting was mistake! Do you think Arthas claimed sword by his free will? watch cutscanes of warcraft 3 at all of them AFTER landing northrend(by after I mean RIGHT after... moment he standing on it) he started acting weird. If you ask me from that moment on Ner'zhul started effecting him and prepared him to moment of encountering frostmourne.
      He burn his own ships! But did you notice that scourge tried to hold him back? I belive that ner'zhul thought Arthas is tring to escape northrend that moment after all he cant access his mind without frostmourne just effect him
      Moment he landed northrend he was slave to Ner'zhul I belive

      A small notice, Jaina did not know the exact effects of the plague.
      She left Hearthglen before the tows people turned into undead, so she only knew that the plague was created and spread by the cult of the dammed, and and the goal is to cleanse the land of life, most likely by killing them.

    A more important question is if Arthas heeded Medivh's warning.
    Synopsis:
    -Arthas and Jaina lead the humans of Lordaeron/Theramore. Uther does not join because he is bound to the King.
    -Lordaeron falls regardless because King Terenas refuses to leave. Terenas is eventually killed by undead.
    -Stratholme is not culled; undead flood from the city.
    -Uther is not slain; remains alive to keep undead from advancing.
    -Arthas and Jaina skirmish with the Horde, but eventually become allies thanks to Medivh.
    -The Human/Horde/Night Elf alliance cross over to Eastern Kingdoms via portal by Medivh to engage the Scourge.
    -Although they had a strong start due to Andorhal and Stratholme, the Scourge likely does not have frontline leadership the same caliber as a corrupted Arthas, therefore they have suffered many setbacks when trying to advance towards Quel'thalas.
    -If Uther is still alive, he likely took his remaining forces to Quel'thalas and teamed up with Sylvanas and her rangers. This makes the Scourge take even longer to advance towards Silvermoon.
    -The united forces crush the scourge. The Scourge never make it to the Sunwell. No Sunwell = no revived Kel'Thuzad = no one to summon the Legion. Forces of good win again!

      So then why would Medivh convince Jaina and Arthas to go to Kalimdor in the first place? (Just asking)

    • @Rebellions
      @Rebellions 6 років тому +16

      @@niantica1869 He initially tried to convince Arthas, Jaina was eavesdropping on their conversation. If Arthas had listened she probably would have followed Arthas to Kalimdor because she had also listened in on Medivh when he tried to deliver the warning to Antonidas.
      There's no doubt in my mind she'd have instantly offered to come with him, likely they would have continued on to Stratholme and brought the plan before Uther, who honestly probably would reject it initially, since he believes the demons are gone.
      Then Mal'Ganis appears and suddenly Uther re-evaluates his position. What happens from there (to my mind) would be much the same, Arthas still takes the fleet, he just heads to Kalimdor instead of Northrend, this time Uther doesn't try to recall his soldiers, and in fact *he* probably ends up going to Northrend since Mal'Ganis tells them "hey I'll be 'chillin' in Northrend" to exact justice on the demon (because you know, after the orcs pulled that demon shit Lordareon takes that stuff VERY seriously once proof is presented)
      The real question then becomes "does Mal'Ganis kill Uther, or does Uther win and if so, does he head to Kalimdor to aid the prince, or go back to Lordaeron and get his shit pushed in by Tichondrious?"

    • @niantica1869
      @niantica1869 6 років тому +1

      @@Rebellions No I meant another thing cause the guy said that if Arthas would have listened to Medivh then Uther would have been the one leading the forces in Lordaeron but since he chooses not to cull Stratholme it floods with the undead, meanwhile because Arthas isn't the new Death Knight, the Scourge doesn't have the same skilled leader as he is. Therefore it takes them longer to get to Quel'Thalas . Since Uther is still alive he leads his remaining forces to Quel'Thalas to ally with Slyvannas so that they can stop the Scourge from reviving Kel'Thuzad. Without him, there won't be anyone to summon Archimonde into Azeroth, therefore no Legion invasion. But the question remains, if that was the case then why didn't Medivh just told Arthas and Jaina to go and rendezvous with Uther so they could take on the Scourge in Quel'Thalas? I mean if Uther and Slyvannas' forces alone could take on the Scourge and defeat it, why send Arthas and Jaina to Kalimdor? It would be pretty much useless if the Legion invasion was not to start anyway, because, in the original lore, Thrall and Jaina were called by Medivh to go to Kalimdor to ally with the Night Elves so together they could defeat Archimonde. Which now in this altered lore would be pretty useless because there would be no revived Kel'Thuzad to summon him in Azeroth in the first place.

    Purging Stratholme was the only logical thing to do. Even Uther and Jaina knew it, but refused to accept it. I'd say the biggest mistake Arthas did was going to Northrend after Mal'ganis. The moment he picked up Frostmourne was the moment he turned evil. I agree that even if Arthas hadn't turned evil, Lordaeron would still have fallen. Ner'zhul would have found another champion to pick up Frostmourne and the following events would have played out pretty much like in lore, with the exception that Arthas would have died.

    • @Numsefisk43

    • @graddeos
      @graddeos 2 роки тому +1

      @@Nereus00 Because Arthas went from a Lawful Good paladin to a Chaotic Evil Death Knight BY CHOICE (being manipulated doesnt diminish the fact that he chose to ignore the curse that Frostmourne would bring), while Illidan has always been a Chaotic Good/Neutral character. I understand that Illidan did some questionable stuff from our PoV, but from his side Illidan has always worked towards defeating the Legion. Its ironic actually. During TBC we went to outland to stop Lord Kazzak's plan of invading Azeroth (after he found a way to reopen the Dark Portal), but after we stopped it, lorewise, we decided to keep exploring Outland to see where the demons were coming from.
      Now in Outland Illidan was using the Sargerite Keystone to invade legion worlds and obliterate them. One of them was Nathreza ( Dreadlord Planet), where he unleashed so much energy that the planet was reshaped the same way Draenor became Outland. Destroying Nathreza was a serious blow to Kil'Jaeden who sent his legions to lure the Champions of Azeroth to invade Outland and get baited into defeating Illidan.
      So you see, Illidan was never an evil character. From Warcraft 3 he was Chaotic Good/Neutral with a sole purpose of saving Azeroth, and his beloved Tyrande, from the burning Legion. While being the ruler of outland he never annoyed Azeroth as he promised Malfurion and Tyrande. We however in our ignorance went to his turf and slaughtered him.

      The mages would need to eat as well. The energy to make the food is in the food. Is a good bit in a Knack book where Rhonin is really hungry. He could go and conjure some food but it would be pointless as eating the conjured food would just give him energy he used to conjure it. Can't just create energy from nothing after all.

      They never go to Azeroth, so basically never having a war and 90% of world threatening events never happening, the races of Azeroth prosper and quickly react to stuff like death wing. Illidan wouldn't have eaten guldan, no scourge, no panda land war, no WoD, basically only parts of cata and legion would've happened, hell the Draenei might not even get to Azeroth. I guess the Amani might be a thing, but the races of the world should be able to take them out fine, not being constantly at war and all.

      If you look at her entire story I think she had a mental breakdown realising that everything she did in her life to achieve peace only led to her personal suffering. She lost Arthas, her Father, Theramore, also Varian whom she as very close friend with. Despite all efforts for peace she was betrayed over and over again by the Horde or at least members of the Horde.
      Everything she ever did was in vain, every sacrifice she made was for nothing - so becoming bitter and full of hate is actually a quite a human reaction to me and was something her character needed, just look at Thrall - he is still green Jesus to a point where it's unbearable.

    Strikes me as a bit odd that in this scenario, Terenas kicked the bucket from "stress and old age", whereas in the canon timeline he coped well enough with the news of Stratholme falling, his people turning into zombies, and his son denying his orders to return home/possibly dying on his campaign. If his time simply ran out and he was "fated" to die no matter what, wouldn't the extra bad news from the original timeline speed up that process, not prolong it long enough for him to be reunited with his son?

    *Here's a story that could be funny :*
    What if Illidan somehow never managed to begin his spell with the Eye of Sargeras in the Ruins of Dalaran.
    Then the Frozen Throne wouldn't have been cracked.
    Ner'zhul (and by extension, Arthas) wouldn't have been weakened.
    Sylvanas would still be under the Lich King's control.
    Arthas and Kel'thuzad could have easily dispatched the Dread lords Varimathras, Detheroc and Balnazzar.
    They could have finished the Undercity (which *they* began to create, the Forsakens only took over it and finished it).
    If you look at the city, you'll notice that it was clearly intended to be a flying necropolis.
    Now imagine the Necropolis rising from the ground, destroying what is left of the Ruins of Lordaeron.
    Imagine the Scourge of the Lich King flying above the continents of Azeroth inside such mighty unholy ship.
    How badass would *that* be ?

    nixxiom they knew the bread spread the corruption before going to stratholme
    he found out far before stratholme that there was plagued food, and found it even more in hearthglen
    purging stratholme was the best decision
    a quick painless death for those inside, instead of risking everything
    also i wouldent consider arthas turning evil at "the purging of stratholme" that was merciful... he whent evil when he decided to chase to northrend....
    so good video but i feel its abit lacking on lore (as you seem to make it seem like they dident know about the plague being in the food before going to stratholme) and full of opinions

  • @araxamas
    @araxamas 7 років тому +52

    +Nixxiom You forgot to think about if the other nations in the Alliance could support Lordaeron. Gilneas, Stromgarde, Kul'Tiras, Stormwind and maybe even the remains of Alterac could have sent aid and maybe formed another Alliance of Lordaeron against the Scourge. Also, Hearthglen and Tyr's Hand didn't fall to the Scourge originally but in your maps appear overrun. Maybe these keeps could have held out and acted as points for survivors and where the nation could launch attacks?. Andorhal could have been taken back as Uther had done before his death, The House of Barov (Caer Darrow) may not have been persuaded to defect now that Arthas hadn't turned over. The High Elves of the North could have lent their aid in assisting the Humans in detecting the plague, and worked in conjunction with the Kirin Tor to create the Undead-Harming Magic that the Kirin Tor had created in WC3 during Dalaran's Siege. But this is all just my opinion, if Arthas had chosen to do a quarantine instead, I think the Scourge wouldn't have had a chance, problem is, Ner'Zul had the ability to see future events, and so his plans were fool-proof to succeed.

    • @DominionSorcerer
      @DominionSorcerer 7 років тому +8

      Stormwind would most definately have sent aid to Lordaeron, as would Kul'Tiras, as Arthas' marriage to Jaina would for all intents and purposes have secured an alliance between the two kingdoms rather than securing more aid from the mages of Dalaran. But Gilneas was walled off, Alterac in ruins, and Stromgarde was busy with the events that would eventually lead to Thoras' assassination at the hands of Galen. Quel'Thalas was just about as walled off as Gilneas without a literal wall at their border, and they barely paid any attention to anything happening in Lordaeron, except for the priests they sent early on in the Warcraft 3 campaign to research the so called rumours of a plague, and the House of Barov had already joined the Cult of the Damned long before Arthas even considered sailing to Northrend. So all in all, while Lordaeron would definately have held out longer, it would have fallen sooner or later. And I personally doubt quarantining Stratholme would never have been fully succesfull unless he had planned for it in advance before going there, so Lordaeron would eventually have to face an army of undead made up from the population of one of its largest cities.

It seems like a very long time passes before the fall of lordaeron in the scenario and that opens up chances for other races and factions to help.

After culling Stratholme, Arthas took Lordaeron's fleet to Northrend where he found Frostmourne, Killed Mal'Ganis, betrayed his men, and then returned to Lordaeron to kill his dad and bring about the Fall of Lordaeron. (There's more to it, but I recommend reading "Arthas: Rise of the Lich King" for his story. Written by Christie Golden, it's an amazing read.

    Story makes sense but what you did is ... ugh... same thing? I mean we know it allready since medivh told it . You were supposed to make arthas lead his people to kalimdor
    Story was supposed to be "what if arthas listened medivh"

    Why is it that I find this more interesting than Arthas's actual story?

      Patrick Buckley arthas story contained until frozen throne is interesting... in WoW just becomes another final boss to gang up and kill... because in WoW they just kinda develope good guys

      @@brunoandrespadillanavarro8923 I don't think they expected this sort of longevity. I'm willing to bet some of the original members, what little there are at least, really regret killing off some of those cooler antagonists so early on. They did bring Illidan back... Only to technically kill him off again, but as an anti-hero.
      Blizz doesn't seem to have any qualms over retconning their own material, maybe we'll see Arthas again in retail. I'm sure he'd be a total crap character in a total crap plot, because WoW is now total crap, but I'd prefer seeing him again over whatever new crap they crap out.
      Crap.

    There is an old WC3 map that actually had an amazing what if storyline scenario. It was a lot kinda map, about what if the orcs won the second war. Gul'Dan is the replacement undead lord, having successfully gotten the eye of sargaras, Thrall rules the rules one of the sacked kingdoms, going by Goel or something, the legion is pissed, and needs the remnants of the dark horde to summon them, and Arthas is fighting Guldan in Lorderon area. GulDan owns quelthalas, and sylvanas is a refuge along with the elf's. If arthas and sylvanas both get to lvl 8 they get married and get a huge buff when close to each other. The game was very well done. I think it's called Glory of the Horde?
