Thank you so much for talking about the humid averages… that was so helpful. You are the first Quail UA-camr to talk about that and I really appreciate it. Also for explaining why the humid needs to be up at hatching… this was so good. Thank you.

      It happened to me too.
Mine was above 60% the whole time, and out of 30 eggs, only 2 hatched.
I’m starting again with less than 50% until day 15. That’s as low as I can get it because our outside humidity is super high. I’m hoping for a much better hatch rate this time around.

Great info... I just hatched out chickens and ducks in a cabinet incubator built from your plans.... One thing I did to improve my hatch rates is weigh a few of the eggs every 3-4 days to make sure they are loosing the appropriate amount of weight. Most eggs should loose 13%-14% by lockdown. I also put a little hot tap water in the water tray if I have to open the incubator during lockdown and it brings the humidity up quickly.

The Brinsea Mini EX and Maxi EX models also control humidity. As you said if ambient humidity is too high it's a problem. Brinsea recommends a dehumidifier in the room where the incubator is if it's too high.

We bought the brinsea ovation ex 56 because it has a pump that helps keep adding water to the incubator from an outside container to keep humidity up. We live in a very dry climate, so we need help maintaining the hatching humidity. I also like that I can stand up the eggs. If I;don’t have enough eggs to fill the rail I use the plugs from the egg foam as spacers. Works beautifully. I can also allow the eggs to lay on their sides in the rails.

Thank you so much for your videos. I am a beginner and put my batch of eggs in the incubator but unknown to me the humility level displayed was completely wrong. I was questioning it because it looked very wet inside (nearly dripping) but the level displayed still said it was too low. So I ordered another hygrometer to double-check. It took a few days to get delivered and when I finally put it in it registered at 99%! Yikes! So I tipped out all the water and finally got it at the correct level. This is now day 6. Do I think 6 days of such high humility means my eggs will not have enough air to hatch?

Can I still try to hatch some of the eggs from the fridge? Also, I've been waiting for my incubator to arrive, so I've been using a heating pad on the three I'm trying to hatch. The heating pad turns off every couple of hours, and they've probably gone without heat for a couple of hours here in Socal, do you think they'll still be ok? Also, I didn't have them tilting pointy side down for the first two days, do you think they still have a chance of hatching?

so the first 14 days is when the hen will be in and out and the last 3 days is when she will not leave the eggs and therefore stays on the eggs, keeping the eggs covered which brings the humidity up and the incubator is mimicking what a hen would do. Is this correct or am I off the base?

2 questions..... 1. Will the chicks be ok 3 days in incubator waiting on further hatching? ( my first attempt last month I got 14 on d17 12 on d18 and 8 on d19). 2. On day 18 early, my humidity skyrocketed to 90%+ and the chicks would not dry and subsequently had no hatching feathers for 5 days. Like naked bird. Day 17 birds dried in about 8-10 hours. What could I have done bettter? S Texas with 60-80% humidity this time of year. I have 75 eggs about half way through incubation so this info is time sensitive. Thanks for all the great vids. It shouuld be pointed out that different areas are different and the climate affects how the incubator functions.
Same with beekeeping. Comparing notes from Florida to Saskatchewan could be problematic. Just sayin.

Ohhhh frigging please!!!! Quail eggs do not need humidity to incubate they don't need lockdown and you don't need to count days to hatch!!!!

I heard you don't need an incubator either :)

@@CoturnixCorner well that doesn't change the fact quail eggs do not need humidity to hatch!!!! With my incubators I can do things you would never be able to do with yours!!!! I can have 5 hens laying 5 eggs a day I can put those eggs in the incubator daily and after 15 or 16 days I can have eggs hatching daily until I stop putting eggs in the incubator. I also never have to worry about humidity inside the incubator it is always the same temp as long as the incubator is running and the incubator is ready for eggs in just one hour after being plugged in with no need for acclimating it. All with a thermometer and a flashlight.

      @@wilkey40,
okay. So you have naturally humid air. I can see why you don’t have to worry about that.

I want to thank you for holding my hand through all of this. I’ve been watching as many of your videos as fast as I can! and am the majority of them I watch multiple times. I’ve kind of got into this hobby completely blind so your channel is helping more than you know!!

Thank you for your informative video. I have three quail eggs that I've kept warm for past couple of days & had a few eggs in the refrigerator since.
