Following a significant update to the gas-powered Mercedes-Benz G-Class for 2025, the most notable development is the introduction of an electric variant to the iconic G Wagon series. Previously known as the EQG, the new G580 with EQ technology is now incorporated as a trim level within the G-Class lineup. This electric model features four electric motors powered by a 106 kW lithium-ion battery integrated into the vehicle's floor. Together, these motors generate an impressive 579 horsepower and 859 lb-ft of torque. This surpasses the horsepower of the entry-level G550 at 443 horsepower, and even the AMG G63 at 577 horsepower. Despite being considerably heavier than its gasoline counterparts, the electric G Wagon can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds.
