- 2025 Mercedes Benz G Class with 360 turn Review by The Straight Pipes. The '25 Electric G Wagen g580 is putting down 579 horsepower and 859 lb-ft of torque from 116kwh battery and 4 electric motors with 4 transmissions. We don't have a price yet but is it cooler than the Tesla Cybertruck or an AMG G63 G Wagon?

@@1nmasuku There was the SLS AMG E-CELL prototype in 2011 and then the SLS AMG Electric Drive in 2013. Only 9 of the Electric Drives have been made.

I would be so mad if I bought an EQS SUV and then this came out. This is 100% better
It’s way worse in many metrics: less range, more wind noise, less AC charging (11 vs 22 kW), less top speed. But still I would always get a G580 instead of a EQS. 😅

I love that Mercedes did that. It's so smart.
Most electric cars look futuristic and roundish (except the Cybertruck), but to just take the EXACT design of one of their most popular (if not THE most popular of their) vehicles and transition it to electric is probably a great business decision.
More car makers should make an EV out of their most popular car, without really changing the design, but simultaneously selling the combustion engine version. This is the best chance to make people like the car and transition to electric.
The G-turn feature definitely helps. Mercedes starts building tanks again xD
Yup. The G is insanely sought after. Our dealerships get around 21 per batch. They are unlocked for ordering in the evening and are already all sold early morning.
We have a really long waitlist for them too, and considering we are in the Swabian part of Germany where most people are rather stingy and don’t like to flex with expensive cars, that says a lot!
Also since mercedes HQ is in Stuttgart, I saw a lot of EQG prototypes driving around here over the last years. They did a lot of real world testing!

That's where I live and I saw a ton of them, they have been tested thoroughly :)

Rivian had this 360 feature as well, they called it "tank turn". Company removed it later because it caused too much damage to trails.

That four electric motors system likely based on the SLS tech decade ago. I assume they had improved it more by adding the low gear to fit for the off-road.

Sooooooo we’re no longer furious with pumped in sound? The charging cable box looks like an AirPod container. Next to the G63 this looks like a Suzuki Samurai. The technology is GLORIOUS. I still think all of the GWagons are hideous. I’ve always thought they were ugly and too snug inside. Kudos to Mercedes for always being forward thinking with their technology.

I’m sorry I’m disappointed. Full EV and 4 transmission? I always had the impression the G-wagon was a luxurious, fast on the street and a capable off-roader? But when they made the tires rubber bands on a 20inch a of rim I said I’m out. Ha But Full EV, four transmissions and fake! v8 noises ! I would never trust such a machine that at one point, was thought to be as capable enough to hike you 70 miles out in the forest and get you home. Rest in peace G-Wagon aha

Dinosaur EV. Start/Stop button, fake engine sound, shift pedals for the regen settings you'll never change, 90's looking infotainment...but I guess there'll be a market for it
I can't believe I'm saying this but I would genuinely have this over any other G wagon. In fact I feel like this is a perfect daily car if you could afford it. One of these and a proper NA sports car for the weekends? Couldn't get better imo

In Poland it’s priced slightly cheaper than base G450d so it’s the cheapest G Class much cheaper than G500/550

I think that you stated this a couple of times in the video - this is how an EV car should look and feel. Looks like a normal vehicle, has normal controls (as normal as they can be) and all of that makes it feel like a normal car.

The great thing about Mercedes is that when they make big changes, they actually listen to the public and change the things they got wrong. Seems like they've learned a lot that people didn't like on their other EVs
It‘s kinda funny. So many people said they just want normal Mercedes cars but electric. Mercedes now did just that. Now many people still complain because they are biased against evs lol. But this will absolutely sell well.
Also seeing the unaerodynamic shape of the g, they made it insanely efficient
I don't see how that applies to the G which was an existing vehicle. If they're really listening, the new EV from the ground up won't look like the EQS or EQE vehicles. This is based on an existing vehicle.
First of all, let's congratulate Mercedes for making the first ever EV, that is actually a real car, not a self-driving capable infotainment center on wheels. How did it take you that long though!
