For anyone w/ 14-18 Mazda3, pull the door panel off starting near the side of the door speaker area, then the opposite lower side, then the top outside edge, then last the top inside edge. This is the order in the service manual and will help prevent clip breaking. Thanks for this helpful video! Mine was just rattling and reseating the speaker eliminated it.

I've just fixed the passenger door speaker rattle on my 2016 Mazda 6 - I followed these instructions and managed to remove the door panel without destroying the existing clips! Repair was straightforward thanks to the clear instructions on the video and the speakers now sound great with plenty of bass with no more rattling! Great video and thanks! 👍

Man.. I wish I would've watched this video all the way through... I kept on struggling when I was trying to put the door panel back on. I didn't not realize that you could/should remove the plastic frame from the door panel and put that on the door before attaching the rest of the panel to the door... You saved me a lot of money and I actually enjoyed doing it 😄😆 Now let the music play!!! 😎😎 (Just two minor remarks to help other viewers: 1) before putting back the door panel at the end, first you have to put the trim clips in the door panel. Then you can click the door panel as a whole into the holes in the door. This is not really clear in the video. I put the new trim clips into the door, but it appeared that you have to slide each trim clip in a different specific manner into the door panel. So I had to remove the trim clips from the door. Not a problem, but maybe a good thing to know. 2) the glue in the link in the description is not the glue Tutoriale Auto is using in the video. I specifically searched for the Loctite glue and finally ordered it online in the US. Later I found out that he used the Soudal Fix All Crystal glue, which would have been easier for me to buy.)
@@maxtrain2010 Yes it did for the most part. After my post, it appeared that I do have a little bit of rattling, but that might be resonance. Have to check that. But it is much, much better than it was before!

Thanks I accidentally blew one of the bose speakers in my Mazda.I thought it was impossible to fix. But when i took it apart all that happened was the spider came unglued from the speaker. I used CA glue to repair it.

I put the speaker back on after 10 hours as I needed to drive but am hoping if I don't use it I should be good. Or should I still be able to use it a bit? I know the seal is still curing. I also used CA glue to provide an initial connection

@@Servicetutorials Many thanks for doing this video! Will be fixing my son's newly bought (used 2016) CX-5 shortly :-) The problem isn't the lack a waterproof glue. The glue used by Bose is still attached to the paint. The paint did not stay attached to the metal. The root cause is a poorly prepared, poorly primed and poorly painted metal. Moisture penetrated through/around the painted metal, causing the metal to rust underneath the paint. In your video, you see many other spots where there is corrosion beneath the paint. This will happen simply due to atmospheric moisture...and doesn't necessarily depend on a leaky window seal. It's 100% a Bose design/manufacturing/process control/quality problem.

if you remove the bigger bose speaker from the door, hold it, and tap the metal center ... if it is like mine, you're hear the rattle. now my other front door is doing it grrrr

First need to peel off the rust under the paint, clean de rust, preferably applying some layer of anticorrosive and re paint again,. and need to clean the rust under the cardboard material, and apply and antirust with a isop, clean again. after that you can apply the silicon. otherwise the speaker will continue to corrode.

In the part where the cardboard material was detached, there is a lot of rust and it is necessary to clean it with alcohol and anticorrosive liquid. You have to clean underneath until the swab you use to clean it comes out without rust . You let it dry and then apply the silicone.
Wow you’ve got to have some patience with this one. I’m about to just turn my bass all the way down and get a subwoofer lol. Mazda should have build these better in the first place so this issue wouldn’t happen. Shame
The automotive quality of Bose is low. I've had a Jeep with Boston Acoustic, and heard Infinity speakers and even old Bose systems from the early 2000s. They all sound much better than the recent Bose systems. I feel at this point the difference between the low end factory speakers and Bose is almost just branding. buying these OE new is not worth the price. They run close to 240 I think.
Why did you have to remove the plastic frame before installing the rest of the door on? I did that and now I can't seem to get it to fit on correctly, too much sits above the door. And I tried clicking it back into the slots but now there's too much separation between the door and the window
If you already went through the trouble of taking the door card off, you might as well replace those garbage bose speakers. Had the exact same problem in my Mazda 3, sold the car and now have an Audi S4
I did this and the rattle was still there. I realize it's not the speaker; the doors need to be soundproofed. I ordered some sound deadening foam and I'm going to put it inside the door in hopes that it will eliminate the issue
try crutchfield, they have some low impedance speakers that might work. that's what i'll do if I don't do the repair described here, or if repair doesn't last. Great description in this video tho!
I don't really like anything Bose, either; however, when these systems are paired with additional EQ capabilities they do become quite listenable, if not outstanding, even with physical speaker issues. Just plain factory installation, with the basic bass/high settings, they are very underwhelming.
I have to stop you where you quote Philips screwdriver @ 1.40. You must use JIS - Japanese Industry Standard tools or you will round off the bolt/screw heads. It's a universal fuck up where many do not understand the correct tools required and the correct method of use. Seen it many times and the first thing I check when buying used because you can guarantee there'll be a bodged attempt somewhere to service, repair and replace. Disaster Imminent!
Um ... i removed my door trim following the same procedure as described here, and Philips worked fine. You won't be removing / reattaching these screws much if ever.

With these being a custom 9 inch mid speaker, is there any aftermarket replacements available or are we stuck searching for NOS replacements/repairs?
According to my local parts store there is no replacement for Bose speakers.
There isn't as well due to Bose' proprietary ohms that differ from most other companies
try crutchfield, they have some low impedance speakers that might work. that's what i'll do if I don't do the repair described here, or if repair doesn't last. Great description in this video tho!

I can fix these in one step. Bin them. Absolutely trash quality from Bose
I've never beer a big fun of bose audio system I think they are overrated and quality of the sound not exceptional.
I don't really like anything Bose, either; however, when these systems are paired with additional EQ capabilities they do become quite listenable, if not outstanding, even with physical speaker issues. Just plain factory installation, with the basic bass/high settings, they are very underwhelming.
The trim kit is useless.. I wish that I did not purchase it.

You must use JIS - Japanese Industry Standard tools or you will round off the bolt/screw heads.
It's a universal fuck up where many do not understand the correct tools required and the correct method of use.
Seen it many times and the first thing I check when buying used because you can guarantee there'll be a bodged attempt somewhere to service, repair and replace.

Um ... i removed my door trim following the same procedure as described here, and Philips worked fine. You won't be removing / reattaching these screws much if ever.
