- This is a test of the 125 gr Trizot broadhead, by Kayuga.
Here is summary of my 2024 Testing Procedure & Scoring w/the scores of this head posted in parenthesis as well.
1. Flight Forgiveness (20%, 22 pts)
I'm using a Killer Instinct SWAT X1 crossbow, mounted to a BOG tripod, shooting a 670 gr Bishop Archery GOAT bolt (300 fps) at 30 yds. Field points consistently hit in the 10 ring & bullseye. I use the exact same bolt to shoot the broadhead. The only difference in the two shots is the broadhead's flight forgiveness vs that of the field point. A bullseye gets a score of 11/10, or a perfect score of 20 + 1 Bonus Point. The 10 ring gets a 10/10, or 20 points; a 9 ring gets a 9/10 or 18 points...& so forth, with each wider ring being 1/2" farther from the bullseye. Mechs are also given 1 Bonus Point for extra forgiveness.
2. Cut Size (20%, 10.72 pts)
The more tissue being cut, the more lethal the head, all else equal. The entrance cut, total cut, & width of the cut (a crucial variable for bloodletting) are all scored:
The entrance cut size is compared to a standard of 2.5" then that fraction is weighted to 7% of the score. (1.41" = 3.95 pts)
The max cut size is compared to a standard of 2.5" as well, then that fraction is is weighted to 7% of the score. (1.41” = 3.95 pts)
The max cutting diameter is compared to a standard of 2.0", then that fraction is weighted to 6% of the score. (.94" = 2.82 pts)
3. Blades (20%, 19.14 pts)
Initial sharpness (9%, 136 grams = 10/10 = 9 pts + .64 Bonus = 9.64 pts & Edge Retention (9%, +39 grams = 9.22/10 = 8.3 pts) are measured using the Edge On Up Sharpness Tester. The pressure needed for a blade to cut thru a copolymer wire is measured in grams.
Edge Retention is the loss of sharpness after the head is shot in Penetration Test 1, thru 1/2" MDF & 2/3" rubber foam mat & Clear Ballistics FBI gel. For every 50 "grams" of sharpness lost, 1 point is deducted from 10.
What are some sharpness scores for common edges?
A butter knife takes 2000 grams of pressure to break the co polymer wire.
A new high end cutlery edge: ~ 375 grams of pressure.
A utility razor blade: 200 grams.
Based on the many broadheads I have tested, here is my scoring scale:
Out of the Box Sharpness:
0-200 gr: 10
201-300 gr 9
301-400 gr: 8
401-500 gr: 7
501-600 gr: 6
601-700 gr: 5
Ease to resharpen or replace blades is judged & given 2% of the score. (6/10= 1.2 pts)
4. Penetration (20%, 20.54 pts)
There are 2 penetration tests:
Pen Test 1: 1/2" MDF, 2/3" rubber foam mat, Clear Ballistics FBI gel. Depth of penetration is compared to a standard of 9" & weighted to 10% of the score. (10" = 10 = 1.11 bonus = 11.11 pts
Pen Test 2: Layered cardboard. # of layers penetrated is compared to a standard of 70 layers & weighted to 10% of the score.
( 66 layers= 9.43 pts)
5. Durability (20%, 18.95 pts)
Each head is shot thru 1/2" MDF 3 times. Its condition is judged 1-10 & weighted to 12% of the score. (10/10 = 12 pts)
If a head survives that, it is then shot thru 22 ga steel plate twice. Its condition is judged 1-10 & weighted to 5% of the score. (8.5/10 = 4.88 pts)
If a head survives that, it is then shot into concrete once. Its condition is judged 1-10 & weighted to 3% of the score. (9/10 = 2.7 pts).
Steel plate & concrete are certainly not "realistic" mediums, but they do reveal the outer limits of a head's durability.
BONUS:
+.40 pts Single Bevel Rotation: 40 degrees @ 13.25"
TOTAL SCORE: 91.75 pts = 10 Golden Arrows

I have been waiting for 20 years for someone to make an improved version of the old Rocket Ultimate Steel 100. I killed more critters than the plague with that head and it was only 7/8 cutting diameter. Animals would walk off and fall over. This is the closest broadhead I have seen to that old head!! Love it!!
Nice
I love the shirt, John!
Thank you.
I was really surprised with the durability test. I thought the steel may do it in anf for sure the cinder block would destroy it. Yet it survived and survived very good. That score is about what i would have given it. Thanks mr Lusk for another fair broadhead test! The best and most honest tester on the internet i think!
Thank you
honestly a new contender! thanks for the video
Thanks!
These are the coolest heads I have seen!
They do look nice
Amazing testing videos! I appreciate all the effort you put into these to give us as much info for choosing what will work best for us
Thank you so much for the encouragement.
This IS a WINNER! I’ve got to try these on a big hog. 👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yep!
I’ve been using these broadheads for couple months in Australia they are great sharp accurate durable just like all kayuga products
Good to hear
Looks great!
Yep
Man this head really got my attention!!!
I may have to give them a try in the near future.
They are impressive
Great Test, their heads all seem to be very high quality for the price. The 175 grain head with the 1 3/16th cutting diameter looks mean. I’ve just ordered more 175 grain pilot cuts for elk this year. Kayuga makes some
great stuff.
I love those Pilot Cuts!
Really nice performer.
Yep
Great Shirt!!! ☺
:)
These look pretty cool
Right?
Wow!!! Amazing broadhead!! Love this one but I think it will be even better in the heavier weights they offer
Yeah, I’m eager to test them too
What a broad head! Gonna pick these up for sure!! Thanks.for.the discount code lusk!!
Ok shipping is $35 oh my
Sure.
Yeah, they’re working on a US distributor. But a lot of their heads are still a good value, even with the shipping.
Great video, thanks for all you do. Question, do you have an excel spreadsheet on bow tuning and suggest tool? I am new and want to start tracking the changes I make to my bow setup. Awesome podcast w/ Kifaru at the end of last year, that’s where I first hear you.
Thank you. I don’t have that for bow tuning. Sorry
That has to be one of the best broadheads to date. 9+" of penetration in gel? Have we ever seen that? Then you hit that cinder block dead center in the strongest part and it laughed at it. Good test John.
Haha. It did penetrate very well
Another great review John! that was an impressive broadhead!! I’ve been using QAD Exodus based on your reviews and have been very impressed. How would you compare the two? Thanks and keep up the excellent work!!
They’re both excellent. Exodus has a much larger cut and tougher blades. These will penetrate slightly deeper and be slightly more forgiving in flight.
This is awesome! Could you do the the new annihilator single bevel
They’re supposed to send me some.
Good video I like that shirt . 👍
Thanks :)
I was impressed untll I saw the price. No thanks, I'll stick with the exodus for 1/2 the price. Thanks for all you do
Exodus are great heads as well
I seen that too, but then noticed they come with 3 sets of replacement blades as well. So price wise it is still comparable to Exodus or similar broadheads.
That's a sweet looking broadhead! Great video once again. Would you ever be interested in reviewing a bow? I have a martin dsx 30. Was just curious if you would be interested in that or if you stay away from bow testing thanks again john
I used to test a lot of bows on my channel. But it takes so much time, I've cut back on it recently.
Nice video review the only thing I can say is that I lost the 10% discount because I already have 2 packages in different weights
Sorry about that :)
I think that it's a great broadhead. I would like the cut to be at least a 1 1/8. But it help up awesome
Yep. They’re heavier models have a wider cut.
I like it
Yep
Definitely in the top 5 of what I have seen you test. They usually break on the cinder block test. The only thing I can say about them is the cutting diameter.
Yeah, I don’t like that small of a cut for most animals-but if penetration is what’s needed, then it’s a winner. But they do make a larger model.

Winning 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌
:)
Great broadhead. I’m sure the large diameter of those half-outs is costing you some penetration (especially if you happen to shoot through bone). They stick out quite a bit beyond the head. Maybe you could do a quick comparison with insert that matches the head. Great videos, keep up the good work.
Yeah, but it’s consistent in all my testing, so it doesn’t matter
@@LuskArcheryAdventures I understand that. I watch most of your tests and noticed it right away. I just meant a comparison between insert diameters. You could use any head, but probably one of the better penetrating heads would be best for comparison.
Another impressive design. I would liked to have seen the blades removed.
I know, I should have done that. They have a unique 3 point attachment system to keep them securely attached to the ferrule. I meant to show that, but just forgot.
John, did you get a new camera? The quality seems alot better than previous videos. I could be wrong, but it looks like 5he quality of the video is much better.
Same camera.
Have to try the 150gr. It's way bigger and shoots amazing
Yep. I have all the weights to test
Sure seems this one and the RAD head is very close in the testing. Plus they look similar as well. I shoot the RAD VanDyke LPS 100. They are the titanium ferruled heads and I have had nothing but positive things with this head.
Great test as always John.
I was thinking this is very similar to the rad heads as well
The RAD Rival is a very underrated broadhead. This Trizot looks great too.
@@douglasvaughn9530 I just ordered some of the 100gr.
I really like the blades on these being a little thicker than the RAD blades. This cannot be a bad thing at all.
Thanks for the comment
@@LuskArcheryAdventures John I am back after getting two packs of the 100 grain version. The blades are crazy sharp. They extremely accurate out to 80 for me.
With that being said this head and the IW 100 will be in my quiver for my moose hunt in September. Thanks for the reviews.
Ok yep that was good.
I'm always shy of sb because i can't get em sharp as i like. This one has angles i think would make em even harder to sharpen.
They did fantastic tho
Man, some of the SBs I’ve tested are amongst the sharpest made
Some states may not allow a15/16 ths head. I believe Canada allows 14/16ths of an inch. This has 3 blades though and the wound channel looks awsome, also the smaller diameter broadhead deer don't seem to know what hit them. The deer would take a couple of steps and fall over!!!
Yep
Aussie ingenuity boy's
:)
Hey you should test the Ma-3 broadhead (del-ma penetrator)….read in several books that they are “indestructible”
Do they make a screw on model. I think there are much tougher heads-anything in S7 tool steel would be better than normal high carbon steel.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures no, you just have to use glue on adapters.
John those cheap 150 grain 2blade oz cut look alike Chinese brand be nice to test. The only thing you have to do is sharpen them. I use a bastard file , then a fine lath file. Do 10 strokes either side with crock sticks and leather stropping.. I use these for my traditional bows.
Ok
Wow
Right?
Super cool head! Has there been a broadhead that penitrated through more than 66 layers?
Yeah, in the past, I think the TOTA 1" penetrated 71...and a few have been in the high 60s.
REK 4 blade as well.
Sawtooth A2 did 71 layers. I think this one may be the sharpest one though. I cannot recall a head this sharp. Thank you Mr. Lusk for your work!
I wonder if it would have gone through the cinder block if it hit a bit higher up.
I don’t think so
Mr. Lusk, Is it possible to put a tape measure next to the puncture holes in the steel gauge test? I realized some kind of reference of scale.
I could, but for fixed blade heads, the hole is the same as the dimensions of the head itself
@@LuskArcheryAdventures omg. You are absolutely right. 😝
😶@@LuskArcheryAdventures
First 🎉
Wow has to be one of the best if not the best for elk.
It's a good one for elk, for sure. The heavier models are a bit wider cut as well.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures I'd ask the elk what they think first. Lol
Hey man exact archery released a three blade can you check it out I really wanna see how it performs
Yeah, I have some. I’ll be testing them in my next batch. Just finished another 14 and they’re scheduled to drop thru the summer. I’ll be working on the next 14 now.
WOW! I'm rethinking my current broadheads now. Cut size is really the only drawback on this one huh?
Yeah. But their heavier models are also larger in cut.
That’s a great head. Shame you require a 1” cut to hunt in my state
There are so many unjust laws, if people would just stop believing that the gov is our masters, stop complying with it all we would all be much more free.
They make a larger one
A Quadzot in 125-175 is what we need...
:)
Interesting design. I'm just not a fan of single bevel 3 blades. I can see the advantage of a single bevel 2 blade over a double bevel 2 blade as far as the wound channel it creates, but I'd rather have a double bevel 3 blade.
I hear ya. But the wound channel of a good single bevel 3 blade like this is pretty impressive.
Do you know of a store that sells these here in the US?
They’re working on that right now. At this time, they do not have a US distributor. But the price, even with the shipping, is not too high. Especially with my 10% discount code.
Look like a single bevel shuttle T lock
Some similarities…much better tip and no curve to the blades.
Is there a stateside dealer?
Not yet. They’re looking for a distributor in the US
Needs a bigger cut imo. 1 1/8" or 1 3/16" would be perfect.
Their heavier grain heads in this model have a larger cut.
Look at the rad van dyke or rival hps. 1 3/16 all steel
They’re heavier models have a bigger cut
Lost me at 15/16ths
Yeah, that’s really small. But they have wider cuts as well. I only tested this one. As they increase in weight, the cutting diameter increases too.
