The first appearance of David Canary as "Edward Black"/Steve Frame and remixed version of the 1981 closing theme... Episode 4386-Monday, October 12, 1981
Jennifer Runyon....one of my biggest crushes when I was growing up! Thank you so much for posting these gems! It's nice to escape back to a time when life was so much simpler and tv programs were of a higher quality than what is churned out by the "System" today.
An almost four minute closing, and this is without the sponsor tag on the NBC airings. Sure wouldn't see this today, as the networks went to their own homemade credits 20-25 years ago
This was the Worst Time for "Recasting" "Another" Alice and try as they might none could cut the Mustard and they should have never had David Canary as Steve Frame. I was stunned to find out that John Consadine "originated" the Role of Phillip Chancellor II on The Young & The Restless. Then in The UK there was Jo Anne Warne who "Originated" The Role of Peggy Mitchell The Landlady of The Queen Victoria Pub aka "The Vic" whose Catchphrase was "Get Out Of My Pub!" It was later played by Barbara Windsor (who became a Dame) by Queen Elizabeth who had to leave The Show. She is battling Alzheimer's.
That has got to be the best hard core stair that I've ever seen someone give to another human being on daytime love it another world was always the greatest wasn't always perfect but compared to sloppy general hospital
RIP David Canary (Edward Black/Steve Frame) Douglass Watson (Mackenzie "Mac" Cory), and Hugh Marlowe (Jim Matthews). Also, hard to believe that David Canary and Robert Gentry would work together on All My Children. Robert like Nicholas Coster are two legendary Soap Jumpers. Robert played Ed Bauer #2 on Guiding Light in the 1960's and 1990's, he worked on Search For Tomorrow, The Doctors, Generations, The Bold & The Beautiful as well as Giles on One Life to Live with Kim Zimmer before she played Reva on Guiding Light.
Thank you for the information, I used to be a Guiding Light fan, from 1981 until it went off the air and I also liked Search For Tomorrow.Back when Travis was on there, and the second Liza. That lady was so pretty, I read she died from cancer at a very young age.
I didn't watch Search For Tomorrow but I remember being surprised that Lisa Peluso who played The Evil Wendy Wilkins also played John Travolta's Little Sister in Saturday Night Fever. Would you say that Wendy and her Friends could have been the inspiration for Beverly Hills 90210.
I believe that was her first role, before she starred on Search For Tomorrow. I might look it up to see what she's doing now. I also liked Morgan Fairchild, she played Jennifer.she was MEAN!
Yeah. Morgan Fairchild was so good at being so "Bad" on Flamingo Road, Jenna Wade #1 on Dallas, and she was so "Gangsta" on Paper Dolls in the 1980's like Joan was on Mad Men. She was even on Falcon Crest.
@wyattphx I think, funny enough, the quality of "Alices" went down with each recast. Jackie was the best (and if given the chance to have "grown" Alice she would have been magifiscent. Anyone remember her ball-busting against Robin's Dorian on OLTL? They went head to head all the time and it was perfection.) Back to Alice--Susan Harney was okay, Vanna was decent but not as good as Susan, and Linda was pretty horrible. Had a odd lisp too. Tina Sloan should have been cast instead of Linda
I watched this show since I was little. I remember sitting on my mom's lap and Steve telling Rachel, "You're not good enough for Alice to wipe her feet on", sending Rachel straight to Alice and informing her she was pregnant with Jamie, by Steven. But I have a question....did Jamie ever have an affair with Marianne? A friend of mine told me he did but cannot for the life of me remember that?
Vana Tribbey was so much better than Susan Harney, who was terribly nasal and bland (her Alice was truly naive -- being taken in by both Willis and Ray Gordon). Jacquie strengthened the character after Steve died and she pursued adopting Sally and trying to head his company. It's a pity people judge Jacquie's performance based on the few clips from 1974 that surfaced on WoST a few years ago (when the character was going through a mental collapse). Jacquie's Alice was intensity and passion!
THe biggest mistake was hiring Canary in the role of Steve, IF AW had enough balls, they would have asked George Reinholt to just come back. BET he would have
Yes. To many Die Hard Fans, only George Reinholt & Jacqueline Courtney were Steve & Alice. I told UK Fans about Recasting especially with Children and they laughed when I told them about SORAS (Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome). In The UK they call it DHS (Different Head Syndrome). He later became a Superstar as Adam/Stuart Chandler on All My Children. It happens, you tank on one soap and become a Superstar on another.

Thanks so much for posting, I loved the 1981 to 87 theme.
Adam Chandler in Bay City.... love it!!!
David Canary,in my opinion,is the best soap opera star, either on Another World or All My Children(Adam Chandler/Stuart Chandler)
Sad that the David Canary recast didn’t work. They should have given him more time.
I love your AW vids! You needed to know, at least until I can download them.
Seven years before Anne Heche showed up!
This was a few years before David Canary went to All My Children.

"Join us each weekday at this time for the continuing story of Another World."
I never heard this remix before. Interesting

It's David Canary if you MUST know.

They couldn't write another minute or two of scene? They had to make the credits drag on for three and a half minutes?
Bill R Tomison That could have been the result of post-production editing. Perhaps material needed to be cut, and thus the show ran short.
THe biggest mistake was hiring Canary in the role of Steve, IF AW had enough balls, they would have asked George Reinholt to just come back. BET he would have
denzo30 The best thing they did was fire him because he wouldn't have gone to All My Children and played two iconic characters. ☺
He probably wasn't asked because Paul Rauch was still the executive producer and it was Rauch who fired him.

GR was utterly blackballed after getting fired from AW and OLTL.
Their earlier theme music was beautiful. This later theme music sucked.
