i loved this show as a kid1 i would race home so i could hear that theme song! what i remember about most about Texas was the indian artifact storyline with Harley Jane Kozak(i think that was her name) Beverlee McKinsey Rocked!
The final two seasons of "Texas" on NBC were featuring an all new opening theme song composed by Elliot Lawrence plus all new title sequences. Courtesy of P&G Productions and NBC Universal.
NBC should have given Pam more time as Head writer rather than wasting so much time on creating more soaps that failed next 20 years. This show was about to take off.
the biggest problems were a slow startup - at a time when GH and GL were burining up that time period..then opposite The Price is Right during its last 9 months didn't change much..btw, my affiliate dropped Texas one year into its run..this was during a time when all NBC soaps suffered opposite CBS and ABC....
I think this was when they started having Latin Actors on the show, who played the so called Stereotypical Maid but it's sad to know that in Sept 2010 all P & G Soaps will be cancelled.
Okay, thats Fran Fine, the Nanny's butler, at 24. Danny Davis is his name I believe, and he isn't English in real life. He's from Tennessee, or maybe Texas, so I'm sure he fit right in. Who is that at 30? He looks familiar. And who's the singer? At the end.
At 30 seconds: John McCafferty played Billy Joe Wright The singer before Beverlee was Randy Hamilton who played Rikki Dekker, they did show him singing on the show.
@Najee1020 I love Pam--but she came to GL to fix something "not broke". She wrote off Hope Bauer, Nola & Quint, etc., Her GL was good, but GL was NOT broke when she arrived. I'd had sooner wished she and Gail kept Texas alive with thw wonderful new Reva, etc but left GL alone!!!

In fall 1981, Proctor and Gamble changed the opening themes for all their soaps on the schedule.

@Simon5005 no--this show actually came into it's own VERY well!. It;s demise was very sad. Started as a rip, ended on a high note

@Simon5005 disagree completely--Texas started out slow but made great strides. It was far better than Dallas.
Personally I like the first one better!!!!!
Deserved to fail miserably............what a blatant rip-off.
But it's alright in some other ways.
