i couldn't agree more...when 9am meant sally jessy raphael, 10-noon was gameshows like $ale of the century, classic concentration and scrabble, and the afternoon was replete with soaps like days of our lives 1pm, another world 2pm, santa barabara 3pm, then an hour of syndicated programming (locally they aired taxi, wkrp in cincinnati), then the people's court at 5 and 5:30 leading into the news at 6pm...oh i miss the days...

Henry Marshall's family fortune should've been in cobarruxtuon, or city real estate.....anything besides a damn ice cream parlor! To NJ e, that would've made the show much better. Still, NBC should've committed to at least 5 years (not cancel after only 2), one if my all-time favorite opening sequence and themes.

domirules28 i agree with you those were the the days there where television not only brought families together but people were nicer then. and that tv line up was my childhood right there. Over the summer that's all i watched every day.
i watch every episode of that show. NBC had to be a asshole to cancel that show 'cause it defined daytime soaps at NBC, hell it even whooped ABC's ass too
it's so true. Unfortunately they had no room for it anywhere else in the lineup at that time, DAYS was doing well, AW was holding up alright and was pulling in HUGE numbers in Canada, and Santa Barbara was just hitting its peak. I don't think the affiliates would've been happy with Generations airing at 4 (although that probably would've given the show its best ratings), so 12:30 was the only option!

Yeah, there have been good soaps that have lasted two years. Unfortunately, networks often don't give them enough chance to grow when they have cult followings, and are only concerned with the bottom line: money. So open your eyes a little bit before making such narrow-minded comments.

"Generations" never had a good chance. The NBC-TV network launched the show against CBS-TV "The Young and the Restless" and ABC-TV "All My Children". I watched it a few times and although the idea and concept was very good, I don't think it excited the black audience it was originally aimed at, and could'nt draw enough mainstream viewers away from it's powerful established competition.
" Generations" will never be forgotten.
I used to watch this show when I was a little kid lol. It came on at nighttime on BET I believe. Brings back childhood memories.

Oh... the infamous final episode that said "To Be Continued" and never was. Such a shame, this was such a great show.

This theme song wasn’t the greatest. But I think “Ryan’s Hope” theme was pretty good. But neither shows are still on because of low ratings.
