my mom died this past summer, she was a devotee of this show...this theme reminds me so much of the memories of my childhood with her it bring tears to my eyes, thank you for posting this.
MY MOTHER LOIS ANN ROUTHIER 10-28-1934-5-6-1984 LOVED HER NBC SOAPS UNTIL 1984 DEATH.SHE WATCHED THE DOCTORS DAYS OF OUR LIVES ANOTHER WORLD TEXAS & SEARCH FOR TOMMORROW WHEN IT SWITCHED NETWORKS FROM CBS TO NBC.
It's like every human emotion rolled up in one piece of music. Indescribably beautiful
It (and the logo of the time) is always listenable and enjoyable, and BY FAR my favorite. I remember being SO shocked when they changed to the new logo/theme after Labor Day. Never in a million did I think I'd ever hear this theme again, and then the magic of the Internet came along, and back I went. Some may tire of certain TV themes, but this classic *never* gets old to me!!
After 45 years, I don't think I ever heard the whole thing! Glad they played homage to this theme and closed with the entire version on it's last airing. Thanks for posting!
its not it's
Whether you're feeling happy or sad this theme truly intensifies whatever feeling you're having.
Well it's Friday, September 4th, 2015 and I have listened to this heart stopping theme once again. This particular one aired 34 years today ----- and it will never be old.
+TimsDale4ever agree.
+TimsDale4ever I love it as well now~
The last date when the old theme was used. Very poignant
The best soap theme ever, in my opinion.
Well said, i think we lost so many things as we moved on into the eighties....an era gone by. The world changed drastically after that and not very often for the better. Things were still of the old way through the seventies
@awtribute It will never get old....it's beautiful.
Loved this version BETTER :)
Who didn't? Started the downfall of this show when they abandoned this.
Margaret although the crystal gayle gary morris was great.
@@m.e.d.7997 it sure did. Late 80s? 🤮🤮🤮
@@jmjfanss theme was, the writing not so much.
@@MandM-tb3lv This was last heard in early Sept 1981.
I've waited so, so long to experience the full theme like this! I haven't heard this in almost 30 years and it brought back so many memories. Oh, I am so happy you posted this clip.
The most LUSH, BEAUTIFUL theme music ever. The pure essence of soap opera.
I always loved Score Productions themes.
Thank you!
Priceless!
This is THE only Theme that I will Associate with "Another World" :)
Never should have changed it.
@@m.e.d.7997 you are so right. I listen to this theme over and over.
I love to play this on my violin! I would listen entranced as a young child to this theme in the late 70's.
I agree. This was the best theme. in general, the themes that the soaps came up with the 1970s were the best ones. They moved away from just organs to full orchestral sounds. But then in the '80s, they tried to be too hip.
Me, too.
I really liked Richard Bekins he was the best Jamie and I never understood why he left the show
I Loved when you could read the credits and see whose name you recognized unlike these days where they speed up the credits too fast so the next show can start. I recognized 3 on here : Ray Liotta, Christopher Knight and Jean Smart :)
And, I Loved this orchestral, non-singing version of Another World :)
Christopher Rich-Sandy Corey, he also played on Reba
Imagine being able to be at home as a housewife in the 50's 60's and 70's and watch all this!
I was a kid but the neighbor lady used to get up at 6 a.m. to get breakfast, her kids off to school and all her cleaning done so she could watch her "stories."
@@MandM-tb3lvWow. Seems it was all worth it.
I agree with all of the positive comments about this classy theme but in many ways, this closing also indicates what is now unheard of television:The producer wanted to honor a key aspect of this show.
The producer knew this would be the last use of this long-standing music so he allowed it to run, In Full. No annoying promo announcements, just the credits on air, with that music playing over it. Not gonna happen these days.
I need this beautiful theme in my life at least once a day!
+MrDaysfan82 It IS quite therapeutic. They were total idiots to do away with this theme in 1981.
They should have always kept this beautiful theme
@goldsox1231 And I hated it when General Hospital stopped showing the big impressive white hospital at the beginning of the show.
Although faces of the heart was a beautiful song.
Wow - It's now been 40 years since the last time this theme was heard. This was also the time the show really started to tank and they wrote off Pat.
Always was a beautiful theme song
The word that comes to mind is grandeur...so elegantly beautiful. I thought the still shots (of that day's episode) behind the credits was so "movie" like. We were treated to this kind of long close once a week, and the background shots would be from a different episode each time. This kept it from getting stale. The gorgeous theme and title is perhaps like no other show in history. This was ripped from us in 1981 -- much, much too soon -- and will always be the heart of ANOTHER WORLD.
Wonderful comment.
For this credit sequence, the old NBC-Brooklyn lot where "AW" was taped used, I would guess, a 1972 model Vidifont, probably from one of the remote trucks that the network had used for live sporting events a few years prior.
The Brooklyn facility, again just a guess, would change to a Chyron, with better-looking letters and a full-speed credit roll, about a year after.
FINALLY! Thanks you so much for posting. I was a kid but this beautifully haunting melody has stayed with me in my life. I actually sing in (jazz scat style, almost opera!) from memory, from the few times the whole song (FULL CREDITS) played out. Best Another World (& maybe daytime soap) theme. YAAY! : )
OMG, I meant to get on here a few days ago and acknowledge that this VERY closing aired 30 years ago to the day on 09/04/11. 30 years ago -- unbelievable!!!!
dale, we both know that it's instrumentation and hard work that produces priceless gems like this. Not slapping something together, throwing it at the wall, and seeing if it sticks, like most music seems to be nowadays. The composers surely deserved Daytime Emmys for this sublime theme.
The promo that ran during this period was amazing. "why was here" "we were sled
Beautifully said
MY MOTHER LOIS ANN ROUTHIER 10-28-1934-5-6-1984 ALSO LOVED WATCHING ANOTHER WORLD UNTIL HER 1984 DEATH!!--LOVED THE 1975-1981 THEME(INTERLOCKING RINGS) & THE 1981-1987 THEME!!(ME!!)
Shocker: I was watching "Julia & Julia" just recently and guess who appeared?
Richard Bekins (Jaime). Julia was meeting with a group of editors or lawyers about her cook book publication and there he was. Blink and you'll miss it. He looked awefully skinny and frail and gray, but then again, it's been almost 30 years from this vid. I kept thinking that I recognized that actor, and when it hit me it was "Jaime" from AW, I nearly fell out of my chair. LOL
Would have liked to see Jean Smart
This show had a following at this time but General Hospital was on fire in the late 70s early 80s. Hard to know they survived at all.
0:14 i Love the Theme Music is Just Put me In The mood & Relaxing
Nancy Frangione looks so beautiful in this clip
@jmsweat the 1980's started the downfall of a lot of things in this world. The new theme they brought onto this show was just one of them.
@goldsox1231 Never thought of that. Thanks. Great comment.
The real Jamie Frame, none of the recasts ever did the character justice.
And if I had of been born the opposite I would have been named Rachel taken off this show as what my Mom used to tell me. She never miss a moment of this show and at 2pm it was quiet time for us kids while she watched this.
In The UK they almost never change their Soap Themes. Coronation Street, The Eastenders (now known as Eastenders) and Emmerdale Farm (now known as Emmerdale) had the exact same thing since the beginning from 1960, 1972, and 1985 respectively.
They should never have replace the interlocking rings All My Children and Days never place their trade mark themes and As The World Turns did not either that's what made people watch the shows after all if its not broken don't fix it just updated it.
Sean, unfortunately, "All My Children" and "As The World Turns" did change their original theme song a few times.
Wow Jean Smart played Woman on the Bus lol
That's true they did thanks
Best of all the soap themes ever. # 1; then "The Doctors".
Ray Liotta and Jean Smart are the only ones that I recognize :)
Kind of sad that young actors coming up do not have the abundant amount of soaps to work on they used to. Television was such a great opportunity for them. It was their time.
Christopher Knight (The Brady Bunch) and Christopher Rich (The Charmings) I recognize as well.
@@myfilmz and Christopher Rich was also on Reba from 2001-07
More than 2 minutes of credits? That's at least 4 commercials!
@calalilygirl
Not to me, the 1990's was really the downfall of a lot of things in the world.
@softwater88
They changed their themes, because they wanted a young audience and more ABC Soaps were incredibly huge at that time.
TimsDale4ever . . . I never really got into AW but I agree with you . . . This theme is the Rolls Royce, the Cartier, Tiffany of soap-opera closing themes. I swear 1981 was when Procter & Gamble ruined their themes. We need good soaps, and this type of appropriate music these days. Now days everything is trying to appeal to the under 25year old Starbucks/"The Hills" type of crowd.
Over 2:00 of credits! That would NEVER happen today.
It ONLY happens if the soap runs short like it does sometimes so I wouldn't necessarily say NEVER!
Hate it when they Flash the credits or Roll them real fast just to get to the next show scheduled.
okay, I very SELDOM watched AW in my life but by judging by the look on these two young males faces(the one scene with glamorous girl) and then the snarky looking one played to music reminiscent of "Dallas" first year music, shit hit the fan. I think I know what it's about, but I want you to tell me for sure, coz I more than likely ain't ever gonna see this anywhere else. You know your vids could get ppl who never watched a day in their lives when it was on air and part of dt lineup!
@goldsox1231 They were desperate. You're right in your perceptive comment. It was a lost cause but keeping their trademark MAY have just made a difference.
I think Bob Israel had something to do with it, since he runs Score Productions.
Becky, I don't think it's been available off-air on any album. Score is usually pretty tight-fisted with their creations, but I *know* they'd make a mint off this classic.
Where the heck is the actual episode of this? One of my faves, nancy f ruled!
Has this ever been recorded anywhere else? So beautiful...
@goldsox1231
Because ABC had bigger ratings than all over soaps at the time.
Too bad we cannot watch all these soaps in their entirety.
I would have liked to have seen Jean Smart as "Woman on Bus"
Woman on bus : Jean Smart !!
1:47
This theme and the edge of night closing themes are my two favorite soap opera theme. but then the edge of night theme was changed to the Disco version I didn't like that.
Why was he here? We were sleeping together. And it wasnt the first time either.
who is the announccer
Bill Wolff. He was also an announcer for WNBC-TV New York and NBC News
@jmjfanss Doesn't seem lile they were too successful. It did not ever work IMO. The ABC soaps were TOPS in those days. Their storylines could not really be beat. The only one that seemed to hang in ;even though always slow and less interesting to me was Days of Our Lives.
Who is the announcer
Bill Wolff. Amazing voice. He's currently the announcer for NBC Nightly News
The ABC soaps were better IMO but their themes were not. Never liked any of them. You could not compare them to this.
After GH changed their theme, I stopped watching it. I liked the original Y&R, As The World Turns, Capitol, and Guiding Light Themes from the 80s, didn't need ANY singing to them whatsoever.
