No one:
Nick: they sound like cymbals
The way he holds the microphone its like holding a drumstick
My ear is always drawn to Sabians, in a good way. Their cymbals just sound better and more musically balanced than the other guys'...
because you have heard every cymbal there is to offer. Both Tony Royster Jr and Stanton Moore have moved over to Zildjian...
Dillon Rotherham Thats because Zildjian is desperate and offers monetary supplements lol Has nothing to do with their sound
Paiste sound is more consistent.
80's Nostalgia Guy Depends on the line lol Paiste has about two lines that sound pleasant. Most of it is just clean classic sounds but nothing new. They’re a old standard but really not doing anything new. No one watches Paiste for “new”.
every big company (and loads of small company) make great cymbals. there is no getting around that
I actually like the new logo/branding scheme for Sabian but that new 10" HHX Complex Splash is the real money... an absolutely fantastic sounding cymbal
Sooner or later, i'll find your comments on all these vids
I love Sabian, but that new logo is awful.
It makes me think of a Chinese restaurant.
Ugh, I know. I saved up to finally buy a new china and was so sad to see the new logo plastered on it. All my other cymbals have the classic logo, but my new holy china just sticks out like a sore thumb.
Thank God we can create our logo's with the new graphics customization ! Yes indeed , the logo is really the most amateuristic design move Sabian had done...I prefer Stagg over Sabian design wise nowadays!
Shut up it makes the cymbals not look like budget cymbals anymore
FrippTricky Honestly i’d wipe it off and get the old Sabian restoration logo kits available online and apply the old logo lol
Mark has that high school science teacher delivery. It's very easy to listen to.
1:56 ... " 'Pawn Stars' owner wanting to ask Sabian rep: 'so how much you looking to get for it??' "💵

There is something with Mark Love’s way of playing cymbals that changes how the cymbals sounds. Sabian is the GOAT of all cymbal brands!
What does that mean, GOAT?
@@DrummerGrrrl greatest of all time, duh
Sabian, I love your company and your awesome cymbals!
Whoever's in charge of graphics over at Sabian.. fire them
Agreed .
Fire the bugger.
WOW....those 15" hats, and that China are beautiful. I'd love to hear that splash stacked on that China as well. But, the 15" Hi-Hats being made today are incredibly musical, with beautiful tones. And, it's great to see the flat rides coming back. Would love to see an unfinished dry flat ride as well. Both those rides sound beautiful.
Great sounding cymbals! I loved the China and their splash cymbals. I’d love to be able to go to NAMM, I wouldn’t wanna leave!
Check out my NAMM vlog! Walked through a lot of the drum sections :)
Those rides in the end sounds amazing !!!
Love the flat rides!
Sabian for the WIN!
Perfect its sound
The graphic cymbals seems great for making a dry jazz ride, great stick definition at a lower volume
Oooohhhhh those graphic cymbals!
the sabian vault 20 inch holy china is my favorite cymbal sabian makes
Crazy how it’s been a year since NAMM 19’
8:05 here cuz of the exciting thumbnail?
Those graphics cymbals sound kinda like sandblasted, thin cymbals to me. Stick sound gets a bit more papery-mellowy metallic overtones, and the decay appears shorter. But that could be due to the environment plus an SM58 not being the best choice for proper cymbal demonstration haha.
Anyways they're surely a matter of taste, not only visually. I prefer "regular" looking cymbals, but I'm glad that Sabian has found back to former greatness with revamping their standard lines and introducing the HHX Complex - after the Big&Ugly rides, the Artisan Elite and the FRX cymbals weren't the most well received things they've done in the recent past.
I don't get the FRX series at all. They're so dang expensive for "reduced overtones" but the sounds are just not to my liking.
@@DrummerGrrrl They're just far too application-specific. They were released in the midst of this "low volume" cymbals craze, so everyone assumed thats what they were, only to find out they weren't all that much quieter. It was probably just that exact timing, why it went over most peoples heads, that these are just for having the harsher frequencies "filtered" out, rather than be quiet, and that's mostly why they flopped on the greater scale I believe. And yes, the sound of them also needs some getting used to for sure.
And that's what I initially meant, Sabian tried to innovate in the wrong directions in the past few years. Towards things, people hadn't really asked for.
@@DrummerGrrrl I agree...I'd really like to own a crash cymbal in that series but it's obscenely expensive.... However, the AAX series revamped is fantastic and gives me exactly what I want in a cymbal... They aren't cheap either but the FRX series needs to be revisited by Sabian's upper echelon as to cost versus demand.
They also have a little less sustain
Great cymbals! Played on sabian+zildjian for years. That new logo though is another story. I hope that it can be worked out in the future. I understand it doesn't take from the sound, although I'd assume those who have a bunch of sabians will not be ecstatic for the new logo mixup. Loving that 21" Legacy!
4:15 is brendan buckley there??? :v7
yep
I love Sabian and I only play their cymbals and have for decades. My only criticism is that their best cymbals for jazz are not affordable for jazz players. Playing jazz gigs for $50 a man doesn't allow for $500 ride cymbals.
You have to play 10 gigs and save up.
Actually, I’ve taken a different approach. Do you know what sounds exactly like new cymbals? Used cymbals.
Good inovation Sabian
Minty 👍!!!
Is it just me or does the custom print cymbals sound kinda' crap..?
They sound a little cheap.
The color sound from Paiste the 900 series sound shit loads better.
The complex line is one of my personal favorite cymbal lines to come out in awhile. I play a lot of Meinl stuff, but am seriously considering switching. They are incredibly musical and just sound nice by themselves, that’s difficult to find.
I want those Sabian cymbals fro free
that china is amazing
Bring me the frx china.
Sabian´s new logo with ninja style letters is making me buy Zildjian cymbals more and more. If I were the owner of Sabian I would sue the graphic designer for making the brand look cheap.
Sabian rep: “I got a few more things to show you if you have a couple minutes”
Tama rep: Takes mic and proceeds to explain a “gender neutral” drum finish....
I play companies. But holy hell did Tama’s rep blow it. Someone fire him.
Sabian Cymbals at NAMM, summarized review: "They sound like cymbals".
Reppin the 506
That dude sounds like squidward
All splash
Paiste is my preferred 1st cymbal choice but sabian will always be my 2nd choice.
Me, too! I really like how Sabian melts down some of their demo cymbals and creates new cymbals that are priced for us less financially "fortunate". Ha ha! What other cymbal company does that?! Yep, Sabian would be #1 except I really, really love Paiste's entry-level/mid-level cymbals over anything from Sabian, Zildjian, Meinl, etc. Paiste 900 series? Amaaaaaaaaazing! PST lines 5, 7, and 8? Freaking great cymbals. If Sabian could improve their budget cymbals a lot more...hint, hint! ;-)
@@DrummerGrrrl Those SR cymbals aren’t melted down. They’re simply re-lathed. All the scraps are remelted during normal manufacturing and so why should certain cymbals be cheaper if the entire manufacturing process has to be repeated?
2:39
Sabian: the pissed of brother ( Robert Zildjian), who left the Zildjian family to start his own company and named the company after his 3 kids, Sally, Billy and Anne
Will the cymbals be available with the old logo? Not liking this new generic looking logo.
I’m from the future. The answer is NO!
@@Assimilator702 Oh well. I guess I'll be switching to Meinl then.
@@BrunodeSouzaLino The logo really isn't that bad after 2 years. I'm switching to Sabian from Zildjian. The only logo you have to look at is on the China cymbals if you mount them upside down.
@@Assimilator702 Zildjian offers you the choice of logo though...
@@BrunodeSouzaLino Actually we get no choice in the matter. All A Custom, A and Oriental have the Zildjian logo on top. All K lines have the Z logo in the bottom exactly how Sabian is now with their entire pro lineup.
Holy shit the paint makes the cymbals sound better? Just me?
*But can they make an HHX line of thin, raw, extra dry cymbals though? 🤔 Meinl’s making them, Zildjian’s making them, get on the wave!!*
Check out the HHX Fierce Ride and HHX Phoenix Ride
That’s what im saying! We need somethin dry. I made the switch to sabian and my next purchase are the apollo 14’ hats. They sound great, remind me of the meinl sand hats but a bit brighter which I like
@@martincorral6835 have u heard the xsr big and ugly series?
Did they release a homeless camp into NAMM?
😄
roomdog40 well, it is in California.. lmao 😂
RIP Neil Peart.
I love sabian and play all sabian but I wish they’d make a pingy dark tone ride with a strong bell. Every ride I’ve seen and heard by sabian is very bright and washy. I wish sabian would make a ride like the meinl byzance heavy hammered 22 ride
Have you heard of the HH 22" Rock Ride? or even the HH 21" Raw Bell Dry Ride? I think these would offer what you are looking for!
The HHX Complex Medium Tone is exactly what you just described. Great stick definition, a strong bell, dark (without being too muddy), and it also has a beautiful crash sound.
HH 22” Rock Ride. AA, AAX, HH, and HHX Raw Bell Dry Rides. 22” AAX Heavy Ride. 22” Paragon Ride. 22” HH Power Bell Ride. Actually Sabian has more rides than Zildjian with the properties you describe.
@@Assimilator702 I've checked these out but none of them with the exception of the 22 hh power bell ride has sounded kinda dark and pingy. Others have been very bright and thin to my ears but i also only have the videos to go by. I hardly ever seen many sabian rides to check out in stores
@@vernonbowers4355 Whatever you hear in a video I notice cymbals sound at least 10 to 15% better in person since the recording equipment doesn’t pick up all the subtle overtones. I’m surprised you don’t like the Sabian Paragon. That is as perfect of a heavy type ride cymbal but still middle of the road with no dirty, funky, or raw overtones as I’ve ever played.
If nothing from Sabian suits I would suggest going with Paiste. Did you ever try a Zildjian Z Mega Bell Ride? Regular Z from the 80’s and 1st generation Z Custom are the best. There’s plenty of videos on those cymbals here on YT.
Also the old Zildjian Earth Ride or even the new K Custom 20” Ride might be what you’re looking for.
I like the same types of ride sounds you’re after and for me the Sabians are the best to my ear besides the Paiste models. 22” 2002 Power Ride is nice.
You have to realize that much of that low level wash will disappear with the full band playing. However the overtones fill out the sound. Which recordings are you trying to emulate?
sorey
The new graphics doesn’t bother me at all; I just feel sabian is so behind in the game, first with the bigger dirty pies and so few lighter weight and trashy cymbals. I can only take off my hat for the innovation in making holes; the FRX is very interesting.
Honestly used to love Salinas now I really dont
These new sabian cymbals are pretty bad in my opinion. I play AAXs because they sound mint, but Idk what they're doing with this collection
That new font for the Sabian name is horrible.
Yeah, superficial i know, but whoever designs logos for sabian should be fired.
First
I don't like these prototypes to be honest 😕
Man that new logo looks like a chinese ripoff brand
