Needed more close ups of all the product y’all were talking about. Only got one quick close up of the pancake snare. When the custom mag throw off was mentioned we didn’t even get to see that. 🤷🏼♂️

All those are great, but the acrylic sets DW sells (Made by RCI Starlite) are right on the money. I can't say enough about them for the price.

Not intending to be unduly morose, but quite surprised and disappointed to hear no mention at all from both sides about the passing of Neil Peart. Neil was arguably DW's most noteworthy and high profile endorser. Maybe that was an editing decision at Sweetwater and there was at least a brief mention of the tragic news but it was edited out. If yes, it was the wrong decision IMO.
Yes, nor even a mention on DW's website, as there was in Sabian and Tama's some days ago (even if Neil wasn't with Tama any more for many years).
Agreed - just unconscionable that DW didn't memorialize him online or at least feature his kit at the show that they've done in the past.
i'm sure the people at dw felt neil's passing like the rest of us. they're not under any obligation to make some big public show of it; especially not here in this video.
@@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power no one talked of obligation, but it just seems weird to me, it's quite recent and it's the kind of new that everybody talks of. Of course they can mention or not whatever they want, not much a concern anyway, just a comment.

I commented on the Sweetwater review of the Gibraltar booth. I don't want to pile on, but all of these videos are the same. Here is a tip for next year. When interviewing the people at the booth. During the interview just shoot them talking. After the interview go back and get still and slow panning close ups of whatever product they are talking about. The actual videos should be an opening 2 second headshot of these guys, then cut to close ups on the products as they explain them. Then, at the end, a 2 second thank you and goodbye headshot. We should never see more than 4 seconds of this guy. Sorry, this isn't rocket science, but it's also not the high school A.V. crew.
Hey bro. Nick D’Virgilio is 100x the interviewer that Jimmy Fallon, Steven Colbert, and other talk show hosts wish they could be. In addition to that, he’s one of the most recorded drummers ever. He’s played with Spock’s Beard, Genesis, Big Big Train, the reviewer/demonstrator at Sweetwater, as well as their in-house drummer, has one of the best new albums Invisible, all that, and a partridge in a freakin pear tree. So you show him the respect he deserves.
Don't get me wrong, DW is an awesome drum shop and their drums sound great.. but a lot of people are doing what they do at half the cost.. they are like the Lamborghini of drums.. they are great.... BUT we know they've have, in fact, been beaten by a Honda! Lol you're essentially buying the logo on the bass drum and the numbered badges..
If you actually owned a DW kit you would know where your extra money went. In the drum world, you get what you pay for. If you wanna play a second rate peice of shit Japanese kit, go ahead.

We've found wood from Noah's Ark, the Crucifix of Jesus and from the Ark Of The Covenant. Drums made from Noah's wood sounds very wet and washy, the Jesus Crucifix wood drums hit hard like a hammer on nails, while the Ark Of The Covenant wood drums kill you when they're struck.

one trend that i don't like in drum making these days is not having 13* toms anymore.
They're disgusting hehe. I much prefer having a 14x10 rather than 13x9's, but hey, whatever suits you best.
@@warrenoids it just seems to be harder to come by, the 10x7 has kinda replaced the 13x9 in many models these days.
@@thepluggy1 Plus some engineers really just hate 13 toms, they say it won't give a nice interval which is false, as my first kit has a 13 and it always matches the 12 and 16 perfectly.
i don't like that either; i'll always have a 13 on my kits, although now i've made that position into a shallow 13" "snom" to double as deep auxiliary snare.

NAMM 2020 goes down as the most uneventful, boring, and unimaginative in many years, and that goes for all drum companies.. There is only so much drum and percussion companies can come up with every year to stay current and ahead in the industry. Paiste, is a perfect example this year, including a "relaunch" of an old series (formula 602) models, and that's it ! Nothing else. I've been a Paiste guy for many years, but that is absolutely ridiculous. And it's not just Paiste, it's every company. Engineers and designers have gotten lazy..
maybe they have realized it all sounds pretty much the same.
Hey, at least 2019 was kinda exciting.
next year will be the hypercarbon fiber drum shells and *vibranium* cymbals.... they're drums, no need to reinvent the wheel every year, or keep rushing invention into oblivion at a lightspeed pace.

@@rhythmista7707 I think Meinl was the only company that really excited me this year. New pure alloy series, redesign of the HCS line, and a whole new byzance line. The Chinas in the dual series are some of the best looking and sounding in the market.
Of course Nick is hot. But I don't want to see this other dude. Show off the drums!

DW's are beautiful, well built, expensive and usually sound like crap!! I've heard $750 Gretsch kit sound light years better than 6 grand DW's. Why is that? I know DW's QC is par excellence', yet they sound like CARDBOARD!! Is it the drummer/tuning/mic's or are they just overrated and expensive?
