    Really appreciate this and you listing the issues you ran into. I'm hoping to mount mine (disclaimer, the boxes have been sitting in my basement for > 9 months now) this week. My hesitancy was always anticipating the exact issues you dealt with - namely getting the proper height of the stringers. So thanks for essentially providing me with a dry-run via this video.

    Thank you thank you thank you for sharing the stringer issue. This is the only video I've found that actually covers the most critical and difficult part of the installation - the stringer height. I got one used and didn't have the instructions. Also apparently rogue doesn't have their instructions posted on their site???
    Great job explaining how to set the stringer height properly.

    If i’m understanding this stringer error correctly, whatever measurement we need for the bottom of the stringer, we should subtract about a 1/4” from that so we don’t end up with the stringer supporting the weight?

    • @ChallengeTheory
      @ChallengeTheory  10 місяців тому

      That is correct. If I were doing my installation over I would do exactly what you described then I would get someone to hold one of the uprights in place with the cross piece on the wall and then check that my stringer is in the correct position.

    • @ChallengeTheory
      @ChallengeTheory  Рік тому

      Thanks! I had no option because of the spacing of the studs in my garage. It seems really sturdy on 3 studs and I had no problems benching and squatting 4 plates on it. If I was using the maximum weight the rack says it can handle I would be more concerned. But that is just my experience and not based on any engineering facts.

    • @ChallengeTheory
      @ChallengeTheory  Рік тому +1

      I got the 21.25 so it can close all the way inward without over lapping. The larger one you have to fold it outward or just let the arms over lap which means they would not be flush on the wall.

  • @irregular7
    @irregular7 2 місяці тому +1

    Just wondering how this unit is travelling having only been installed on 3 studs? Curious as I am in the scenario where I am about to install my stringers on 3 studs or use a piece of 12×2" piece of timber across 5 studs

    • @ChallengeTheory
      @ChallengeTheory  2 місяці тому

      It has never given me any issues. I have used it to bench and squat 405. My thought was the fold out arms support most of the weight if it is installed correctly. With that said it would be best to use 4 studs as instructed if possible especially if using heavier weights.

    Very helpful video. Thank you. I'm planning on buying the same rack. The base of the wall in my garage juts out like yours but goes up about 19 inches off the floor. The lower stringer would have to be roughly 20 inches high. Do you think that would work or is it too high?

    • @ChallengeTheory
      @ChallengeTheory  Рік тому

      You need to make sure your ceiling is high enough to allow enough distance between your stringers. From the top of your "baseboard" you need 89-3/8" to the bolt in the top stringer. @@alejandro.a.m The RM-3W is the full-size monster rack and the RML-3W is the lite version. The lite has smaller holes, a different chin-up bar style, and costs about $75 less. The biggest difference is each has different accessories like safety bars stc. The accessories on the RML-3w are less bulky and less expensive. RM (Rogue Monster) VS RML (Rogue Monster Lite) - The RM has larger holes and the add on pieces are bigger and more expensive. Also the RM top stringer is mounted higher on the wall. I wanted the bigger space between stringers so I could mount a larger mirror.

    • @ChallengeTheory

    • @ChallengeTheory
      @ChallengeTheory  Рік тому +1

      When you mount the stringers you have to use a level. I think most garage floors have a slope for drainage. I put my stringer on the wall with some wood screws that I put in half way. I then leveled it and adjusted the wood screws until the stringer was level. Then I took out the wood screws and used the wood bolts to attach it. It was a pain but once I got it mounted I have had no issues. I love my rack. Hope that helps.

    • @joshuaharkness2630
      @joshuaharkness2630 Рік тому +1

      That does help, but I guess I’m more curious about if the bar is noticeably uneven when you go to lift or rerack after benching. My thought is even if the stringers are level, one side of the rack would be higher than the other since the brackets on the stringer let the rack move a little. I thought that might have been the reason it was stuck on the bracket the first time you tried it.

      Yes! I love it. Best purchase of my home gym equipment. It is still solid and perfect. I benched my 405 life time max on it about 1 month ago!

    bro this instructions from Rogue were pathetic. gotta give yourself some grace to make mistakes. in the end it's setup right and functional even if it took a bit longer.
