    I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews. I was so impressed with the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMwYg0MOXR4M-oGeyBsNSYe1aPOUoRH6D cage that I got the lat pulldown attachment that goes with it. It is equally outstanding. I don't have one complaint other than putting it together is a job. The instructions and packaging of the parts are very well designed and organized. Also, I stripped and damaged the pull down cable the first day, admitting it was my stupid fault, and they quickly replaced it at no charge. I'm 6'5, 280lbs and fit in the cage just fine. Glenn B

    Thanks for sharing the details. This is great.
    Also, you have pointed out the important concept of the folding rack that the wall does not really take weight loads, it was the 3"x3" tube that takes the vertical load transfer to the floor below when you drop the barbell. Now it all makes sence.

    One question: when extending and folding the arms, do they "drag" on the floor, or can you lift them up a bit? I have a very nice wooden floor I want to protect where I want to mount the rack, and I need some spare room between the floor and the arms to slide under a mat when I get ready to train.

    • @ThatTechTeacher427
      @ThatTechTeacher427  4 роки тому +14

      Thanks!
      Mine do drag or slide on the floor when we fold and unfold it. Although I just tried to lift the legs and they do slide up so it looks like you could lift them up every time you needed to. This may not be the most fun but does look doable. The bottom of the legs have plastic feet so maybe putting felt or something on the bottom would help as well.

    • @JermaineBrantley

  • @ytano5782

    Best video on UA-cam for this rack. Which type of wall did you have? If I understand correctly, Rogue only deliver wall mounting screws for wood. But in central EU concrete is the common construction material.
    Install heavy stuff on a concrete wall is not so easy. You need heavy duty metal anker, mortar to fix the anker in the wall and a powerfull hammer drill to screw a 20mm hole in the wall. But this mounting is overbuild like Rogue products 😂

    I had the same question on how this would work on the slope of the driveway floor as many. I saw where you pointed out how it swings out and the range w/in the swing joint. I also love your suggestion on using the 3/4" stall mat - good to know before I put up the Stringers.

    • @Nflforever2
      @Nflforever2 4 роки тому

      @@ThatTechTeacher427 This might be a silly question but how do I determine the slope of my garage floor. I would assume it probably slopes a touch due to drainage. Just a long level like you used in the video?

    • @ThatTechTeacher427
      @ThatTechTeacher427  4 роки тому

      @@Nflforever2 Exactly. I would put one side of the level against the wall and the other where the leg will touch the floor. Lift the level on the low side until the bubble is in the middle and measure the distance between the floor and the level where the leg will touch the floor (either 21.5" or 41" away from the wall). That measurement will be how much lower you mount the stringer than the #s in the directions.

    I followed the installation instructions for stringer mounting height and the feet are about a millimeter off the floor (they don’t drag at all). The instructions say the feet must be touching the floor. In hindsight I wish I had paid more attention before drilling all those lag bolt holes. My garage floor isn’t perfectly level which is likely the problem.
    As others have mentioned there is plenty of vertical play at the pivot point if you need to lift the bar when swinging. I could have easily lowered my stringers a half inch or more with no issue. Maybe a pad on the floor will help.

    • @ThatTechTeacher427
      @ThatTechTeacher427  3 роки тому

      That is true and something I wish I would have explain better in the video. You could always put down a rubber mat or sheet of plywood to raise the level of the floor.

    First of all, thank you so much for creating an amazing tutorial. I've just got my Rogue Rack today and excited to build it. However, this is my first time tackling something like this and the tools I have already is a power drill, level, stud finder and I'm honestly not too sure what else I need. When I saw you install the stringer to the wall, which screws and washer did you purchase because I didn't realize it didn't come with those. Thank you again and hope to hear from you soon!

    • @ThatTechTeacher427
      @ThatTechTeacher427  4 роки тому +5

      Thank you!
      I used:
      Ratchet with socket, open end wrench, or adjustable wrench,
      3/4" or 19mm,
      9/16" or 14mm,
      15/16" or 24mm,
      15/64" drill bit and drill,
      Tape measure,
      and a level.
      I ordered mine with the stringer to attach it to the wall and it came with the 16 lag bolts and washers needed. If you did not get the stringer you will need to get a piece of lumber to mount it to the wall on the top and bottom. Then I would use lag bolts that are at least 3.5" long. Hope this helps.

    We just got ours delivered (for some reason not all the packages came at once). At the we ordered it, there was no option for buying the stringer. Any idea how big you think the piece of wood needs to be (as a substitute for the stringer)? I was thinking about 55 inches but I’m an amateur and would appreciate if you have some advice. Also, this is by far the best video on UA-cam for this rack. I’m super impressed at how well I followed your process. I’m looking forward to exploring some more of your projects! We also got a separate pull up bar from Rogue (P-6V) since my husband and I workout together a lot. I’m going to see if you have a video installing that by chance! 🤓🤞🏾🙏🏾 thank you so much!!!

      For the stringer you could use a 2x10 that is at least 52" or longer (55" would work great) as that would reach 4 studs although I may go 68" or more to reach 5 studs. Then you can purchase lag bolts and washers at a local hardware store. I would say 3.5" long.

    So before measuring for the mandated distance between the floor and the bottom stringer, I should put in place any gym flooring first, and measure the distance between THAT flooring and the stringer, correct? I purchased their Rogue rubber tile mats (1.5" thick) so I assume I should measure the distance between that tile and the bottom stringer, NOT my actual home floor, is this right? Thanks for the vid. Thank you so much. So at an 88 inch ceiling height it makes perfect sense that rogue suggested cutting the rack to 84 inches. Basically mine will be set up just like yours but without the 3 holes above the pull up mounts showing. Thanks so much brother. So sorry to bother you with this. I appreciate your help from 1 teacher to another god bless!

    Great video! A few questions: 1. Do you think there’s space to put thin UHMW tape on the accessories where metal meets the metal of the upright? 2. Couldn’t tell by watching, but is that a rogue product holding your bar, and is it attached to the uprights, stringer or sitting on the floor? Thanks for posting the vid!

    Great tutorial. You made it look so east. One of my arms doesn’t have as much play as the other. I can lift and fold the one side just fine. The other side is more snug and drags a bit. It might be that the wall isn’t flat and comes out a shade more on that side? I can’t figure it out.

      Thanks! The ceiling in my basement is roughly 93.5" from concrete to joist. We have rubber stall mats on the floor and there are copper pipes above where the rack is installed so the usable height is 92.25". I installed the top arms 1 hole lower so the pull up bar could be a little lower. We have 12.5" between the the pull up bar and the joists and it works fine for us.

      Thank I appreciate it!
      Pull ups are not an issue we have 12.5" above the pull up bar which is enough for our heads.
      The 21" arms are ok for standard pull ups and chin ups. Due to our ceiling heights we are unable to try any swinging moves or get on top of the bar. If we had higher ceilings I think you could still do those moves.

    Questions - I see you have your barbell hanging next to or on your rack - does it come with a barbell hanger that attaches to the rack, or is this an upgrade? Which set of spotter arms did you get? I see a couple different versions on the site, and don't know which one is the pair for this rack.

    • @ThatTechTeacher427

      Our bar is just leaning up against the stringer. I do plan on buying or building a holder for our bars. Rogue sells wall hangers for all of their products but they are not always cheap. The spotter arms we bought are linked in the description but really you could get any ones that work with a 3x3 rack (which is pretty standard among brands).

    Rogue should be sending you free stuff since youve probably been more helpful in your videos and answering questions than their own employees. I just ordered the same rack but for my garage and my only question would be since it has a slight slope like most garages do , how would that affect the rack since one side might not even touch the ground ?

    • @ThatTechTeacher427

    Thanks for the video. I just received this model and although I'm extremely handy and competent with mechanical and technical assemblies and builds, it was nice to see the entire process by an actual customer. One question I have is how and what is your Olympic bar hanging on? You didn't mention any accessory for that and it looks like you have it right on the rack somehow. I know they sell single and multi-bar mounts but it doesn't look like that's what you have there.

      @@ThatTechTeacher427 Thank you. I appreciate your reply and the additional info. I'm not cheap by any means but an inexpensive alternative to Rogue's bar holder could be a sturdy forked bike or equipment hook from Home Depot/Lowes, etc. There are numerous ones with thick foam or rubberized padding to prevent bar scuffs. The one nice thing about Rogue's is they have a 3 bar holder that attaches directly to the side member of the rack so you wouldn't have to wall mount it.
