Miles Teller had played drums since he was 15 but he still needed training for this film because jazz drumming is different from what he was used to. Miles did played all the drums scenes, even the solo (but they had to break it up. Took two days to shoot) The blisters he got from drumming were even real.

I agree with you that this movie was incredible. I was pretty obsessed with it for weeks after I first saw it. I need to remind myself to rewatch it again sometime.
