Centurion D3, D5 and D5 Evo sliding gate motors have oil filling areas/ slots.
The Centurion D3, D5 and Evo range of gate motors, use a normal 20w50 engine oil.
One can fill 80w90 gearbox oil into the gate motor, but it is not needed.
It is common that Centurion gate motors leak some oil onto the doss disc.
Clients then accidentally fill the doss disc area with motor oil and as such, the gate motor system will malfunction.
    Gate motor oil fill slot:
The gate motor oil fill slot is situated under the gate motor battery.
Thus removal of the gate motor battery is needed to inspect the gate motor gearbox oil level.
The oil dip stick can be removed by hand, or by using a screw driver to pop the oil dip stick out.
One should then check the oil level.
It should not be above the “cut out slot” area.
If the gearbox is over filled with oil, then the excess oil will need to be drained out. To the correct oil level.
If not, gearbox oil will seep out of the gate motor onto the doss disc and the gate motor will malfunction.
Removing of excess oil can be done by sucking out the oil via the oil fill hole by using a thin pipe.
Or loosening the front cover and letting the gearbox oil drain from there.
One would need to move the sliding gate in order to loosen the gearbox seals.
Oil will then drain slowly from the gearbox.
    Doss disc:
The gate motor doss disc system is situated in the front of the gate motor between the gate motor power supply and the electrical motor.
The doss has always had a red sticker present which indicated that no oil should be filled into the slot, but replacement doss components do not have these stickers present.
This is where all goes wrong as clients will think the system is dry and oil is needed.
How to clean the doss system:
The doss needs to be removed along with the doss holder.
The front cover 4x screws are removed and this will allow one to remove the front cover.
The doss disc is then inspected for oil, no oil should be present on the doss disc.
The doss disc can be cleaned off with handy andy and a paint brush.
Clean water may be used to flush the soap off everything, make sure water is not spilled onto the gate motor power supply, rather disconnect it.
With everything clean, one can refit the front cover and secure it with it’s 4x screws.
The doss will need to be cleaned out, as it is a electronic component one would advise not to use handy andy and water.
Rather use a chemical cleaning agent which can evaporate quickly so that no short circuit is created.
When everything is back in place, one can re program the gate motor limits and check it for proper operation.
