- This is Dave's Ford Escort XR3 classic car which is in the late stages of the restoration project. This is an original prairie yellow car, believed to be one of only three survivors in this colour. It's so rare, even Corgi used it to build a model for their vanguards range (model VA11011). The car has had a full body and mechanical restoration,

It was similar to mine, an even deeper shade of yellow, a 1984 Ford Escort Xr3i. From 1997 to the end of 2002. It was my first car. It rarely happens, but in my dream I wake up sweating because I dream it was stolen and then I find it and drive my car again and it feels really good and I want it again...... I loved it.. I wish I could drive it again. I'm crying.. :(

Nice job, they weren't this clean underneath when I was working on them when they were new.
Yes you’re right Rich, often with outdoor storage off the production lines a lot of cars had surface rust on a lot of underneath parts when registered and sold new! 😁

Can only be described as very good condition all original never welded or respayed. Owned for 15 years.

Thanks for the comment, ur right Daz, even though the car is able to go on the road it's staying as it is for the time being. Another video on the rest of the car will be coming out soon

What will happen to this car? (Will it be taken down of the lift?) I had the red back in the seventies working for Ford but I don’t think I ever saw a yellow one. However I really like it. Will it be driven or is it going straight into heritage display? 🤔
Do you know why there is only 3 survivors in that colour?
They are getting old now so not many about👍
Very low production numbers and were only available for a short period on XR3 launch, the colour was dropped early 81 along with midnight blue, as they got older and became the play thing of 80's boy racers no one wanted a yellow one, I know of 2 other original ones, I hear there's another but I've never seen it
