Roedd bwrlwm mawr yn y De yn 1980, pan yrrwyd cannoedd o geir newydd Ford, yr Escort XR3, i lawr yr M4 fel rhan o ymgyrch hysbysebu y cwmni. (Does dim sain ar y fideo yma)
There was great excitement in the South in 1980, as hundreds of Ford's latest car model, the Escort XR3, were driven down a strip of the M4 as part of the company's advertising campaign. (There is no sound on this clip)

Thank you for posting this, I have been searching for years for photos! I live local to where they were parked and remember the event well - all parked on the east bound M4 (Still under construction at the time) at junction 35. All the cars were initially marshalled in a hanger at Llandow. It was the official opening of the Ford engine plant in Bridgend, where every Ford dealership in the UK were invited and given a new XR3 - all sunburst red, and as the footage shows, the dealers were bused in from the engine plant, (Literally around the corner!) and the cars driven back to their respective dealership.

Takes me back to the good old days. I had ttw34w, can't pick it out on the film. I managed 115 on the clock before I traded it in for a new 5 speed then on to an xr3i, more refined but not as much fun. Understand TTW34W was written off by next owner. Wish I still had it!

fiquei admirado em saber que esse modelo de ESCORT XR3 foi lançado em 1980 ano em que eu nasci, pois achava que esse mesmo modelo tivesse sido lançado somente em 1985 ! achei muito interessante este fato !

1980 foi o ano de lançamento na Europa. Aqui no Brasil chegou em 1983 já como modelo 84.

There must be 1000 XR3s here all in Sunburst red. So different to the Mk2 RS 1600s it replaced.
