    This is my 3rd Space Echo… I had the original Roland Space Tape Echo back over 30 years ago, and in 2009 I bought the RE-20. Now, I have this pedal which is convenient to use for live gigs.

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  Рік тому

      Hey, you're welcome!
      I don't think you can assign the functions, unfortunately. You just have to go with the order that Boss have used.
      The only things I can suggest, are either turning your footswitch upside-down, or taking it apart and swapping the footswitches over?

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  Рік тому +3

      I usually use a very subtle amount of room reverb, just to make my base-tone a bit more natural sounding and less dry and boring. So you're probably hearing that, especially at the start when you can hear the dry signal in isolation.

  • @brendonmasters9047

    Quick question- did I understand correctly that your footswitch allows you to access Tap Tempo AND Twist function even if the pedal is turned off?

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  2 роки тому +1

      Yes indeed! However, unlike on the DD-8, using the Twist function in this way turns the pedal on at the same time. Which is weird.

      Thanks so much! 😊
      I'm probably not the best person to ask, as I've never heard anything bad about any pedals with buffered bypass. Especially not Boss pedals.
      The only noticeable way the RE-2 affects the dry signal, is when the preamp is engaged.

  • @tonyonecanoby

    Is there a way to do a factory reset? For some reason I stored a lower setting and now it is a lot lower volume and will not sound anything when pedal is off. kind of want to start over.

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  2 роки тому +1

      That's really weird. You shouldn't be able to "store" any particular setting. Especially not a low volume one...
      I would unplug all cables and power supply, and take out the battery (mine came with one already plugged in, so yours probably has one too!). Then plug everything back in and try again.
      Also, make the sure the volume knobs are turned up at noon and your guitar volume isn't turned down, etc.

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  Рік тому

      I don't think so, no. But tbh, you don't need an expression pedal to do that, since you can just turn down the Echo volume knob and leave the reverb knob turned up. 👍

      @@PedalExperiments isn't the reverb applied to the wet delay signal? or is it applied to both dry and delay signal? Reverb has to effect both in order for this to work. If so, this pedal could be all you need far a wet sound! Cant wait to buy one!

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  Рік тому +1

      Good question!
      Currently, there's only one product on the market that will let you do that. It's called the 'Expressionator' and it's made by Mission Engineering, but it costs like £250 or so.
      I'm working with Rockwright FX atm to make a competitor to that pedal, but with four outputs instead of just three. It's still in the beta testing stage at present, but hopefully it won't be too much longer...

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  2 роки тому +1

      I wouldn't get rid of the RV-3, mostly because it's focused on cleaner, digital delay and better reverb.
      The RE-2 is a lot of fun, and sounds great, but you can have the exact same sounds from the Nu-X Tape Core Deluxe, for about ¼ of the price.
      However, if you're not on a budget I'd totally recommend getting an RE-2.

    Hmm the owners manual tells me to put the pedal on mode 10 when accessin expression mode?😅 also ive seen videos where people tell they can choose any specific parameter to controll with the expression pedal? But no idea how to do it… help pls

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  Рік тому +1

      Hey! I found you. 😄
      First of all, you need to make sure you're using a stereo/TRS cable with your expression pedal. A regular mono/TS one won't work.
      Ok, so if you follow the instructions from about 6:20 of my video, you should see the process you need to follow.
      First, you have to unplug the power from the pedal (not sure if there's room for a battery under the footswitch, but if there is, take that out as well), then put the pedal into mode 11 and hold down the footswitch while you plug the power back in.
      After that, the power LED should flash to tell you that you can now configure the pedal settings for the "heel-down" position of your expression pedal (this is how you can get it to control only a single parameter, if that's what you want).
      When you've done that, press the footswitch again to store that setting, then set the controls again for the "toe-down" position of your expression pedal, and then you can sweep from the stored settings to the current settings.
      I hope that helps?

    • @vekedii6379
      @vekedii6379 Рік тому

      @@PedalExperiments yea sure. I got trs cable and a working expression pedal no doubt. Thats not the problem here. Just wondering about the second thing… is it possible to choose a parameter to control for example only the ”repeat rate”? I have the expression pedal working with the re-2 just asking for specific controls with it.

    • @PedalExperiments
      @PedalExperiments  Рік тому +1

    This may be a long shot... but I bought an RE2 with a DVP4 which is what youre demoing here I believe. Im using a TRS cable as well but having a major problem. Did the DVP4 work with the RE2 out of the box for you, or did you mod anything? Any suggestions?

I wish I had a way to test the RE2 without buying another EXP pedal.. anyways I guess you probably didnt modify the DVP4, so it should probably work. Yeah, it's pretty weird. But it's modelled on the original, so I assume it's accurate at least.
      I much prefer the Nu-X NDD-7, personally. Partly because the reverb in it, is a really nice hall instead of the janky, weird ass, faux-spring effect in Boss' RE series.

    • @LeviBulger
      @LeviBulger 4 місяці тому

      I personally hate the NUX. It sounds incredibly cheesy compared to the RE2 IMO. If you've ever played through an old Roland Space Echo, the RE2 and especially the 202 are really impressive in how closely they sound. You probably wouldn't like the original either if spring reverbs aren't your preferred reverb type. They're inherently clanky and short so I totally get that newer or younger players prefer halls and plates. Almost nobody buys a reverb pedal for the spring tone these days and I don't blame them because not too many pedals do it well as is. The RE202 does have a hall reverb option btw.

  • @fiveways
    @fiveways 2 роки тому +2

    There is a possibility that the emulated spring reverb is lack luster as the tank on a real 201 is .....not the greatest. About the best you can say about it is that it is a functional reverb tank.
