Original Video - • Shakespears Sister - S...
#ShakespeareSister #Stay #EmpressJoyJean
Finally someone got it
She definitely got it
Really 😏
I KNOW!!!!!!!! LOL I was still in single digits when this song blew up and I became obsessed with the band. Birth of my Goth life. LOL Then I realized Siobhan (death) was in Banarama and their hits during the 80s. Empress, I have been very sick from COVID like most of the world. Only thing I was really allowed to do was listen to my music and I stumbled onto your page. I've been working very hard for the last few years to change how I can be rocked, primary new is....situation sucks, can't change it. Find a moment that makes you happy, or laugh. You and your page are definitely a very good find. Thank You. I do recommend going down the Shakespeare Sister rabbit hole. Their catalog is amazing.
I love watching people react to this video, nobody ever expects Siobhan 🤣 She was actually very drunk during the filming of the video. Luckily she made it down the stairs. She had been in the studio waiting to film all day and drank more than a whole bottle of vodka. I remember watching an interview where she said she couldn't remember filming it at all 🤣
Yeah didn't like the second part you can clearly make out she's drunk and her erratic movements and twitching destroyed the mood of the song.
@@mediavideos2176 I love it. She's playing a weird, disturbing character and for whatever reason the fact that she's obviously hammered kinda works for the character, for me at least. Makes that sudden switch up all the more impactful
@@mediavideos2176 I thought she made the video! She was awesome, and her voice wow!
@Stanley Blues Yeah me too. I'd have happily pegged it and accepted my fate 🤣
Yeah I think they are both great. Love when Siobhan appears.
Shakespeare's Sister was a relatively short lived collaboration between Siobhan Fahey of Bananramma and Marcella Detroit. The contrast and interplay between Marcella's dulcet, operatic tones and Siobhan's darker, rougher voice dug it's way into my soul in High School and never left. Almost anything from Hormonally Yours is pure gold. The breakup was fairly rough and they didn't talk for years. They reunited in 2019 for a tour and released a new single, All the Queen's Horses that seemed to be about their relationship as a singing duo.
Thanks for that, i had no idea, just listened to it for the first time, loved it.
Not totally correct, Shakespears Sister is actually a project by Siobhan Fahey and started before Marcella was a part. It continued after Marcella left and has been on and off over the years with Siobhan and Marcella reuniting in 2019.
Fantastic comeback in my opinion too.
5:30 death was like: "ok, you have won the battle, but I will win the war! see ya in 40 years, for round 2!"
Hahaha! :)
Yep, it was great showdown in the desert with "All the Queens Horses"
Your reaction when 'death' came on the scene was on point. Her part in the video and song really elevated this. When the group split..both singers would sing the song as a solo. While both were pleasant versions, it proved they were stronger together than apart.
You are the only reactor who actually understands the actually meaning of this song
I was just waiting for the drop with a big grin on my face! Damn, I forgot that eye roll Siobhan gives as she walks away.
How could I have forgotten about this song? I LOVED this when it came out! I wore the single out!
Yeah, this is one powerful and emotional song.
And I love it.
This video premiered on VH1, on the morning of my father's funeral. He'd been on Life support and we all begged him to fight and come back. But, he was brain dead after suffering multiple strokes so, we his kids, decided to remove the life support and set his spirit free, instead of keeping it trapped in his body.
So when this video premiered, my niece and I were glued to the T.V., sharing dad's favorite recliner, and just letting the tears flow.
We connected so deeply with the song and video that we each bought their CD later.
And just when we were getting ourselves under control, the video for Silent Lucidity by rock/metal band Queensryche, also premiered.
More tears and hitches in our breathing later, we attended my dad's funeral. We'd catch each other's eyes and if either of us was crying a little hard, we'd nod then hug.
I still absolutely love both songs but, Stay with Siobhan approaching all smiles and creepy, is my favorite video.
You hit it right on the head with your reaction...I cry EVERY TIME I watch this video, it's super meaningful to me.
Marcella Detroit, best female vocalist ever.
Siobhan wasn''t too shabby either, once she got the Bananarama out of her system.
It's a unique song, not many of those. Amazing performance 👏
Siobhan Fahey (Irish) who comes in as a "she devil" is part of the original lineup with Bananarama,if you ever heard of them? They got the HUGE 80s hits Venus and Cruel Summer. Marcella Detroit by the "hospital bed" is American, both plays the guitar and are songwriters. Marcella was also the co-writer of the Eric Clapton song Lay Down Sally. This duo won me over when they came out
Wasn't siobhan with the guy from eurythmics at some point too? I fekin Loved bananrama, n these 2 - only this song n "I don't care" I really love ❤
@@juliesabin5707 Yeah, Siobhan was a wife of Dave Stewart from Eurythmics for 8 or 10 years, and you can definitely hear his production on this song. They divorced in 1996 right after release of 3rd SS album without Marcella
Classic song. Beautiful lyrics, music and vocals.
Death wins. Always. As things should be. You can win specific battles, but she keeps coming back. She is the most faithful entity in the universe. Never gives up on you. Gives you the greatest gift there is. Final release from suffering.
The possessive, inconsiderate human lover that wants you to stay is the evil one, if you ask me.
haha. Death is inevitable, but love is not, why not have both.
Please react to Shakespears Sister - Hello (Turn Your Radio On) (Official Video)
The chick playing "death" was part of Bananarama and quit to form Shakespeare Sister as her old band was getting to pop for her liking.
Omg Can't believe you found this.
Wow, this was so attention-getting! It really draws you into the drama of the story. Great song and video. Wonderful reaction by you! Here's to your next one! 🙏🙂❤️
@Russel Thank you dear 🙌
I have never been able to hear this song without tearing up.
It's interesting how different people have different reactions. I always smile and laugh when I hear this song, its always been a big joke for me, and most of the people I know. Not making any judgements, just saying how different people's reactions can be.
Me neither, and it’s been nearly 30 years😭
There was no-one else like these two ladies back in the day - they were doing things, musically and visually, that no-one else at that time was doing. If you like this, you'd probably like a lot of their other ones too - 'You're History,' 'Hello (Turn Your Radio On)' and 'I Don't Care,' to name just three.
Trouble with Andre is so underrated.
You should check out another one of theirs: " Hello (Turn Your Radio On)"
You really need to check out imogen heap if you haven’t already.
From a gay man's heart you are truly gorgeous
Glorious band, especially The Trouble With Andre and Moon Child 💜
I love love love love your reaction and explanation for this. Thank you. A million hearts to you.
I absolutely love this song! It blew me away when it first came out! I love how you have hit the nail right on the head with the battle between love and death. I am a firm believer in the idea that this song has to do with suicide. Specifically with the lines" If this world is wearing thin / And you're thinking of escape" and "But if you try to go out alone / Don't think I'll understand". It shows the impact of the death of a loved one on their partner.
She a beast(awesome) coming down the stairs @ 2:40 , basically telling her ,she better hurry or i will take him, its really deep
Irish witch
Hi - surprised you found your way to this. It was a massive hit at the time and I recall seeing them perform this live. Great track, so glad you liked it
@Mark Roberts, Thank you dear
I love Siobahn in this been a fan of hers since her Bananarama days with Cruel Summer and Venus
Siobhan was married to Dave Stewart from Eurythmics so Annie Lennox next,......?
Oh please do Nightwish - Ghost Love Score Official Live at Wacken 2013. You won’t be disappointed. Another powerful voiced woman, but the group is a symphonic metal band. So instead of screaming and growling it’s lyrical and sometimes like movie music. Oh please react to that video.
You must listen to mazzy star. Fade into you. Or anything off the album so tonight that I might see
Not gonna lie, that first pause triggered my OCD haha
I am going through that right now. Thank you so much for reacting to this older video. Great song! God bless!
Wow, haven't heard this gem in decades ! What a wonderful song... exactly as your reaction to it. Please don't forget my request of Mylene Farmer. Best wishes from Germany : Gerry
Suggestion: Harry Nilsson "I can't live if living is without you"
(Get the tissues ready)
ua-cam.com/video/G-ZDKirjQgM/v-deo.html
Very, very good interpretation of the song & video. Well done, that was a brilliant video
This one always gets me, in 2011 at my birthday party I suffered an "Out of hospital VF arrest" and had 7 minutes with my wife and a friend doing CPR before the ambulance arriving, those 7 minutes of CPR are the only reason I am now here typing this instead either being 6 foot under or a very brain damaged individual, now the reason for the back story is that the only thing I remember clearly from all this is hearing my wife telling me (and I do mean telling) "You are NOT leaving me!" I still put that down to helping me fight for life.
Your reaction to this song is beautiful :)
It's a shame that the "official" video mis-spelt the group name at the end. It is Shakespear's Sister. Marcella Detroit who has a great voice is actually American. The song/video was actually banned in Germany because of it's story content.
10/10! Very few people get the concept of the video.well done ! ❤️🤩
Please react to silent lucidity by queensryche... it's a beautiful song. Sorry if you have already, this is my first video I've watched of you!
Yes finally someone gets it! but i also like the fact that when Love wins and he wakes,Death seems disappointment, but gives a smirk like oh well ,i'll get you eventually..and walks off.
WOW! Incredible. The vocals, the video, the story. Loved that! Empress, your videos are always wonderful.🌹
@Magnolia Aww, thanks alot dear
Beautiful reaction to a song that has meant a lot to me since I was a kid. Just subbed!
Joy-Jean...
OMG, you are exquisitely beautiful!
that wasn't your first time! come on.....all these reaction videos are bs
Wow! And how are you so sure that it wasn’t my first time? Please only say what you’re sure of. Thank you for watching though.
@@EMPRESSJOYJEAN how could you be so sure they were gonna fight after watching only half the video? Anyway I just find it hard to believe 'reactions' videos are authentic and not forced or acted.
Because I reacted to this song two years ago, I had to watch it again in order to answer your question.
The song started out with a lady singing to her sick lover to stay with her (not to die). I never said they were gonna fight. In my words “this is a battle between love & death”.
In some cases a person’s love can bring his/her almost dead lover back to life (so I believe). That’s the reason I said it was a battle between her love for her partner and death. I had no idea there would be a fight at the end.
I liked the reactions but you’re way off on the message or story. It’s a dark song. She’s killing her man with her toxicity. She has two sides. The sweet yet life sucking beauty. The other side is just her full wrath. He’s trying to build the strength to leave but she’s using all her tricks to make him stay. “When your pride is on the floor, I’ll make you beg for more.” “If decide to go don’t think I’ll understand.” Then when it’s not working he gets the full wrath. “You’d better hope and pray that someday you’ll make it back to your own world.” Implying this is her world. She makes the rules. He stays and she turns back into the sweet sounding bad girl that will continue picking him apart.
I think you miss the point. The 'lady' enslaves the man..."There can be no in between. When your pride is on the floor
I'll make you beg for more ".
Death may be the only way this person can get out of the relationship...and he's cursed to spend the rest of his natural life with a woman who thinks of him as a player in her life rather than someone having his own soul. The song is brilliant, but is so misinterpreted.
And there you have hell.
Девушка, которая смотрит-очень красивая!!!
You're pretty, and know that I am the malw part. Love 4. . . ... heh
Ma(ad is an animal elder goddess. Aunt of king Arthur
As soon as I saw the notification that you were reacting to this song, I said to myself, "Yep, she is going to love this song and Her voice."
@Asmahdan And I did love it! Thank you dear
Greetings from Bonnie Scotland. May I suggest to you a very good video for you to react to, it is by Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird (Live at Oaklands Stadium)
Dearh is not a demon. Life without termination means nothing. It is a race to do, learn and feel as much as one can before the Great Referee blows the whistle.
...and no. A kick in the air doesn't count.
LOL Joy you looked so funny in minute count 2:40 you went from loving mode to attack mode 😂😂
You are one sweet young lady JOY...🌹 good reaction though 👍
Damn, girl! You got it! Really got it, actually understood the song. Thank you.
I know you've done a couple of Pink Floyd songs, but you should react to a song called the Final Cut. Their best song, in my opinion, and I don't know any youtubers that have reacted to it.
You seem to appreciate emotion so I think you'll love that song.
@Dustin Tharp alright, I'll check it out...Thanks dear
I haven’t watched this video in so long and realized you madam are a very naturally beautiful woman 😊
They all heard this song before this review but anyway 😉
Just a damn good song!!!!
I was telling my assistant how much I fancied Siobhan Fahey and I turned around and she was standing behind me 🤩😂😎🕺
good reaction to a fantastic song. Your first stop was at the wrong place just when Marcella was hitting a peak note. Apart from that great reaction.
Fry as a girl you are so beautiful, I was born in South Africa where your accent from
when everything gets back to normal around here I hope you'll visit NY. I'd like to see reaction videos on not only music, but also the culture. I don't mean NYC, I mean the real NY state, farmland, apple picking in the fall, the leaves changing colors in the mountains, good ole boys with 4X4 trucks, late night bonfires out in the woods or along a river, etc. I was born and raised here so I sometimes take it for granted, but I love to see it all through someone else's eyes, and who better than you.
@ToddtheWadd It would be fun to experience all you listed here. We hope everything gets back to normal 🙏
Good and evil against each other conquered by love
Great reaction. One of my favorite songs ever. An ex-gf made me a mix-tape with this song once. I had never heard it. After we broke up, It tooks me months to find out who sang it and track down the album. This was in the mid-90's before it was so easy to go online and find info on anything lol.
Personally, for me there were 3 great musical tragedies: Shakespeare's Sister, Terence Trent D'Arby & Billy Idol!
You spoilt it with the stop start. Better to listen to the song and get wrapped up in the emotions then comment. Sorry, but you ruined it for me.
Her lover is a coma and the angel of death came to collect his soul and life and she is fighting to save him from the angel of death and wake him up
Suggestion. MAZZY STAR : FADE INTO YOU
Great review my Naija sister. I loved your reaction when Siobhan as the angel of death appears :D
You caught the message of the story perfectly and articulated it very well. I'm so happy younger generations are discovering the treasure that is STAY :)
The reason why she cant understand is bc its about a boyfriend who has an addiction that leads to this situation. Apparently it was written after a real event
I just love white culture !
getlost, show me a latino, bored of darkies!
you 100% get this.... when she said its about love and death. spot on.
I always assumed Sioghan Fahey was succubus
Yep. **Her Voice**
Eye roll at 5.19 death just needs to wait, she gets us all in the end
But death always wins in the end. There is no avoiding this.
Marcella Detroit (the first woman in the video) sang backup for Eric Clapton. A great example of her powerhouse vocals is "The Core", from Eric's 1977 album "Slowhand".
Listen to James blunt monsters it's good
i remember this one brilliant track great review.👍
Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories - Stay
I'd forgotten all about this song. Great theater!
:D I love u, waited for uor reaction :D
This was 'our song ' when I was fist with my girlfriend 30 years ago. Still married her and still love her as much, even if she is a grumpy old cow now ;-). Just kidding Mrs C, you're aweseome for putting up with me.
My girlfriend died I understand the pain
The French and Saunders version is also a classic
Should watch “stay” by sugarland
Gary Go - Wonderful
I love your reaction videos. You’re so genuine and you feel the music. You are beautiful inside and out!
Who the fuck is disliking these videos?!
Hi Empress! Your so beautiful and loved your reaction, I don’t know if you’ll read this but you should react to the queen of pop Madonna with Hung Up! You’ll love it and you just gained a subscriber! ❤️
@Marcos Joel I'll check it out dear. Thanks for subscribing 👍
Jumpin' Jive by Cab Calloway and the Nicholas Brothers. It's been reacted to quite a bit but Cab scatting away is always fantastic and the brothers put on one of the most amazing dance routines of all time. ua-cam.com/video/_8yGGtVKrD8/v-deo.html
I did not know shiborne was even pissed
Marcella has a beautiful voice.
The other woman was a demon who had come to take the mans soul.
