You could do the same thing an octave lower. So instead of starting on the 20th fret of the B string, start on the 8th fret of the B string. One issue is that it’ll be more difficult to play because of the long divisions between each fret but eh, better than nothing right?

It's so rare to come across such beautiful music in hard rock. It's always so shreddy and twisted and cool, but this is so well thought out and, like all of Carl's lessons, easy to learn when you watch one of his tutorials. Even years ago I loved this song, but I always looked forward to this part the most. Thank you so much Carl I'm gonna learn this so fast 🎸🎸🤟👍
Dude, you're the best! Thank you so much. The tabs I've been learning from were totally wrong and i couldn't figure out the very last part of the middle solo. So again, thank you!!!
Making my goal to learn this song by the end of the summer, been learning by ear, trying not to use tabs. Needed help with this part, couldn't quite figure it out. Will come back for the main solo. Thanks Carl!
Carl, Thank you so much for all your videos and taking the time to teach. I click with you very well, some guys go fast and are hard to follow and ALL your videos I've watched I came away being able to play the song!! Great videos and great job teaching. Thanks again!!!
do you play acoustic or electric? Really you just have to keep working on it, i had trouble with it when i first started, eventually you start getting callus and it gets easier. (also its a lot easier to do on electric because there is less string tension)
I had the same exact problem, so I just removed all my fingers from the fretboard during the hammer-on, and then practiced getting my fingers back on in the respective positions slowly at first until they naturally went in place, and I could place it real-time speed.
Thank you so much for your videos ! I've started to play with Rocksmith, so that got me going, but I really wanted to learn to play Metallica since the beginning. Your videos are really awesome, not too detailed, a lot of playing at different speeds, you brake down everything so well. Please keep going !

Hey Carl! Awesome tutorial as always! I think you are doing an extra pull off-hammer on combo when Hetflield's solo starts (14-15-17-19) part. I might be wrong but I actually watched him play super close live and also the MOP tabs book Metallica published in 90's didn't have that either. You probably don’t listen to much metal then
It isn’t the most intricate solo, but the emotion in it is unique among others. For that reason it stands out to me.

its not that hard tbh, you just have to practice
There are no shortcuts. It's all in the practice. Slow is smooth...Smooth is fast. Speed will come with time
If its clean part then ok if solo part then i doubt you can do it even close to smooth after only playing guitar for 4 months. Sorry but no
