Hey mate I was working for Ford at the Time these were being Produced out of assembly plant 2 , so the Keys too were changed and had the ford logo taken off them. this was part of the Button plan when Ford were selling Patrols ( AKA Maverick) Toyota were selling Commodores( aka .LEXCEN).
@@WayneBarber-d4g This was the button plan to rationalize the models being offered to try and make cars cheaper. But it just screwed the local market over. At the same time they started with the Free trade agreements. Which meant that the cheap cars from markets where they pay their workers almost nothing end up here.

Australia's car manufacturers started to pool resources to improve efficiency, increase volume and attain economies of scale. Rebadging each others cars was a small part of the bigger picture. Another example would be Nissan Australia providing RB30E engines to Holden for the VL Commodore.
