I want to do something like this my issue is finding land and choosing where I want to stay. Whenever I find something tis super far out I don’t need that many acres though maybe 10-15 mostly farmland … bc when you get a lot of land you have to maintain it so I think 27 would be a bit much for me
I’m an HVAC Tech so I understand the ceiling option but, leaving the exposed ducting (as high as it is) is more for a commercial application than residential IMHO. And even though you installed spray foam, your AC system will still work harder to cool that space. I just prefer a 8-9 ft ceiling creating an attic area (yeah, more money) so the cooled space is smaller. And you could have a great storage area up there. Plus, with normal ceilings this home would be more appealing to any future buyers.
That's what's great about this construction style, you can finish it however you want. Personally, the industrial/commercial look is what I was going for. I like it. Also, we've been having 100° days here in Louisiana, and my highest electric bill is under $60. Insulation for the win.

Even though I live in the desert, when I had my patio cover built, by code it had to be able to carry 2ft/sqft of snow load. They might just recommend a steeper pitch roof as well.

I purchased the land 4 years ago with a land loan. Slowly worked on developing the driveway, pond, and house pad and just built the house last year. These things take time, the best thing to do is to get started.

I don't think you will find a complete kit for that price unfortunately. The empty metal building is completely customizable and cost me $15,500. By the time I finished building, I was a little over 80k. We will be releasing a price breakdown video soon
Nice home and great to show what it took to build. However, the $87k price tag is very deceiving. People watching this will actually believe they can do the same. You know what you are doing and have an HVAC company, lots of friends who know construction, and clearly many skills and connections that allowed you to build this house for way less than someone else.
I have a friend that is a general contractor in Louisiana. If you're near Baton Rouge, we might be able to make that happen. His price is going to be around $160K
@@DudeWeCanBuildIt why? Are you going to hard wire to the house? Wi-Fi routers are just as good as wired systems unless you buy very expensive servers and data storages. Besides the feed from your internet provider is your biggest problem. I was just wondering if there was a problem with the metal structure.
@@glenncantley5898 The metal structure does degrade wifi signals. With a mesh system (multiple routers) you can have them connect wirelessly or have them hardwired. When they are wired, there are less issues with connectivity and you maximize bandwidth. Also, they will only work on the other side of a metal wall if they are wired. Check out faraday cage.

It's cool that you've got your own property/home all to yourself, but I can't lie man -- those finishes are killing me. Tons of gaps between the floor and trim/door frames, rushed paint work.. Overall the build just feels super rushed and lackluster, speaking honestly. I mean, there's shots of you standing in rooms with exposed framing spray painted black at the corners. Can't even comment on the exposed spray foam on that same note. Not my house, not my money, but I still feel homes are supposed to be built with love, care, and attention to detail. Congrats on getting it wrapped up.

A very nice place…however,unless you own your own a/c company,have many friends in the trades,and are able to do tasks many people are unable or are unwilling to do,this is a $125,000 plus build. So really not applicable to 95% of people watching the video.
They sell double wide trailers for 165k now so it’s still better. You’re missing the bigger picture. It’s a great strong house that won’t put you under a 30 year mortgage that is super customizable and different from every other cookie cutter house with a 18% apr

We used bead board for the ceiling in those bedrooms. We have a video cutting and installing them.

A very nice place…however,unless you own your own a/c company,have many friends in the trades,and are able to do tasks many people are unable or are unwilling to do,this is a $125,000 plus build. So really not applicable to 95% of people watching the video.
They sell double wide trailers for 165k now so it’s still better. You’re missing the bigger picture. It’s a great strong house that won’t put you under a 30 year mortgage that is super customizable and different from every other cookie cutter house with a 18% apr

I’m not arguing that point..I’m just saying the numbers you put out there are unattainable for the average person. Awesome that YOU were able to build it for that,but the average person will be nowhere close to those numbers.

I had a general contractor price out my entire build, turn key, and it was $160. No homeowner labor required.

That sounds about right in today’s world. Again,I did not mean to disparage what you were able to accomplish…I think it’s great and you have a place to be proud of. I am hoping to do something similar in the not too distant future.
