I remain uncertain about the value proposition of the PS5 Pro particularly considering its high cost for seemingly minor enhancements. The only plausible scenario I can envisage for someone to invest in a PS5 Pro is if they have surplus funds readily available and do not yet own any version of the PS5. This might apply to professional gamers who one would assume should already possess a PS5 given that gaming is their livelihood. However if for some reason they do not own a PS5 and have the necessary funds they might consider purchasing a PS5 Pro. Yet this still appears excessively costly as the total expenditure inclusive of all accessories could range from $800 to $1000 depending on the retailer. This is a substantial amount to spend on a console and its accompanying accessories which are intended to enhance the overall user experience. It's worth noting that no gaming platform should command such a high price with the possible exception of a PC given its upgradeable nature. However even PCs are costly. At this juncture it may be more prudent to invest in a PC. For those who already own a PS5 or a PS5 Slim I struggle to identify a compelling reason to upgrade to the PS5 Pro. The existing models already deliver exceptional performance impressive graphics and swift loading times. Therefore I fail to see any significant shortcomings with the current PS5 and PS5 Slim that would necessitate an upgrade. To the best of my knowledge game developers for PlayStation have not yet fully utilized the gaming power potential of the PS5 and 5 Slim. Both consoles exhibit similar performance and graphics capabilities with the only discernible difference being the size of the platform consoles. Given this one might question the necessity of producing another console if the full power of the existing ones has not been exploited. At present the rationale behind such a decision remains unclear. However it is possible that the new console could offer an unprecedented gaming experience that we are currently unaware of. Despite this possibility I remain skeptical and would prefer to see a comprehensive review from a seasoned gamer before making a judgment on its worth. Regarding the $700 price point one of the primary contributing factors is the inclusion of a 2 terabyte storage card chip that comes pre-installed with the console. However I find it hard to believe that this alone justifies such a high price. Furthermore the console is digital-only necessitating the additional purchase of a disk drive which I find to be an inconvenience. In my opinion the overall value proposition of this console appears questionable.
I bought a PS5 earlier this year...replayed a few games...and then played 2 new games...and then never picked it up again. I'm sure there are other games I would have fun playing...but I had zero interest in seeking them out. I sold the PS5 and will put those dollars towards the Switch 2. No regrets.
Its a premium product for a select few people who want the best and are willing to pay money for it. We pay 1500 euros for a Iphone Pro or even more for a Nvidia Geforce 4090. Same shit thanks to covid. The only thing that sucks is the diskdrive that should be included at that price point. Mark my words, people will buy this.
Why bother buying a console when just 2-3 years after a revised and slightly improved version of it will launch as well? It's baffling to see them so out of touch with reality.
You would think I would complain about the price, but no. The reason being is because I bought a gaming laptop (ASUS Rog Strix Scar 15 with an RTX 3080 graphics card and 32 GB of RAM) during the PS5 shortage. The laptop cost me $3000. Also seeing as how PS5 games get ported to PC and online still free, there's really no reason for me to get a PS5. Sure PC has it's disadvantages, but I can live with that. Also I do own a PS5 controller and there are steam games that do support the haptic feedback. So yeah, I'll pass on the PS5 Pro.
So instead of the pro why don’t developers just lessen the amount of graphical fidelity? You can make beautiful games but less massive and with less trillions of particle effects Cause thank you for your take cause I don’t even notice the true difference in performance vs fidelity mode graphic wise. Like I don’t care how ultra realistic the graphics are, I cannot bring myself go back to SM2 cause the story just isn’t it so why would “better” visuals make me wanna die play again And I don’t care who you are but you can’t even consistently notice the difference in graphics compared from the pro to the base ps5. None of those comparison vids either, nobody is honestly saying “WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CANT SEE THE DIFFERENCE “
In the games I've tested, I see no graphical difference between fidelity and performance modes. However it's a night and day difference between 30fps and 60fps. 60fps is a necessity.
Fidelity mode is just a slight upgrade on the Pro and on the OG PS5 only difference is on the Pro you’ll get 60fps maybe depends on developers. To my eye there is a difference but you gotta get very close to your tv just to see it. From 5 feet away you won’t see any difference and I tested this on a 65” tv which should be big enough to see the quality differences.
I hit play on the video while my phone auto played music to my headphones and i thought it intro to the video for a solid minute, the song was "A couple of times a year", and I just assumed it was meaning sony taking ur whole paycheck lol
2:00 - the disc drive is louder then it has any right to be, otherwise it's a solid console. 99% of this generation runs on the ps4... the ps5 pro makes no sense with that in mind. 6:50 - the target audience is their biggest fans. Half of their gamers are still on ps4. They are not buying a ps5 pro. which is also why the no disc drive is so insane.
PS5 Pro is a classic case of wasted potential in which an otherwise decent concept is getting sent out the production halls with too many unpleasant compromises on the way. Could have been a good product if only it contained the disc drive out of the box and were about 10-15% cheaper. But it looks like Sony is done taking risks on development time and bold pricing in our high inflation climate. I can't blame them. But this is exactly the environment in which such a product will just rot in warehouses, no matter how shiny Spiderman looks on it. I'd have saved my breath for PS6.
In before you make a console without a disc drive and make me basically panic about the prospect of getting a standard PS5 used on sale someday...great job Sony.
I paid 700 dollars for my ps5 with tax, (in the us) and cause i had to get that god of war ragnarok controller, but that paid itself off in worth so...
eyy on the bright side the standard ps5 is now, not only cheaper, but more value for money since it comes with buth a disk drive AND vertical stand maybe thats the point here
I thought players used performance mode literally for that. Lower res higher frame rate? Will the pro make the games that support 120fps better then? As far as i know nobody gives a fk if you can see extra blades of grass ,a few leaves and strands of hair? Storage I get is expensive, genuinely thought players wanted better frame rate than fidelity? Your normal ps5 is fine.

Sony lost me a LONG time ago, but honestly, Astro Bot deserves better.
Kratos didn't carry them for the past half decade to get locked down onto this...
They should give Ratchet and Clank to someone who treats them right, and stop making such "Sony" decisions for ONE generation...
Let’s face it. The only reason this console exist to for GTA6.
Lmao probably, It wouldn’t surprise me if Microsoft comes out with a new version of the Series X after the game releases.
@@coal4208doubtful the x is already strong enough
Remember, the PS5 Pro needs to fail for the PS6 to succeed. Sony can’t continue pulling this crap or they are going to ruin everything.
$800 with no disk drive not worth it
A see a lot of people switching to the switch after this
I think sony is in cahoots with scalpers. The ps1 colored ps5 model is sold out and scalpers are charging $5,000.
The Pro here in Australia is $1200, it could be the best console ever made with games that make you see God and I still wouldn't pay that much
I have the slim with disc drive. Ill just wait till the price drops and I just might buy the pro later on and put my disc drive on it and sell my slim as digital. My biggest issue is still no major exclusive PS5 games
You think the Slim drive will fit the Pro?
You haven't been with Sony for long or you're INCREDIBLY optimistic.
I sincerely hope your wish comes true and it does work on the Pro, but please dampen your expectations to avoid complete disappointment.
@@The_Prizessin_der_Verurteilung Of course I already looked into it and the disc drive can fit on the new PS5 Pro no problem. Those who don't have it can buy the same disc drive for 80 dollars. And for the record, I've been a Sony consumer since the 80's walkman cassette era
@@danleonhart1 Nice to hear, knowing Sony, I was sceptical about their disc drives the second they announced the Pro would need an add-on to be honest.
I'm still sore over my numerous PlayStation bits being given similar treatment over the years. (I'm still rather salty about the PS Vita too to be completely honest, so I trust Sony about as much as I'd trust a robber with my wallet these days)
@@The_Prizessin_der_Verurteilungyeah don't worry about it, it's the same disc drive. And yes, Sony does overprice everything like their Flag ship Xperia smart phones which costs as much as a laptop, so spend at your discretion. Speaking of the PS Vita though.. word has been going around Sony is making a comeback to the handheld market after the success of their PlayStation portal and other successful handheld gaming consoles on the market. So I'm actually looking forward to what Sony is cooking up. So imagine where we can have PS5 level gameplay on the road!
@@danleonhart1 For sure, I'd love a new handheld from them. Though I'll definitely wait a year or so to see how they handle it first.
I don't even mind if they had proprietary memory cards or something, as long as they're not too expensive and they actually support it this time. The PSP set the groundwork for something big, the Vita could've been so much more and I think that's what gets me the most about how they treated it.
If they gave us things like Ratchet and Clank on the go, even different versions of games like how they did God of War Chains of Olympus on PSP specifically for a new handheld, I'd absolutely buy it for those.
they released PS5 pro for ONE reason only ..... they want moree money.
the factor nintendo switch had a nintendo switch oled that was portable had a better kickstand and a BIGGER SCREEN with grafhic that make a DIFFRENCE JESUS
Playstation fans: We need more first party games, yk, stuff to play?
Sony: Oh what's that? $700-$800 console??
Also side note at (8:52) I didn't even realize the PS Portal was a thing...
What i really want is a game like Breath of the wild where graphics takes a back seat and gameplay takes priority, Imagine if Rdr2 was less focused on graphics and more on npc and environments. can you imagine how big and dense the map could have been ?
Youre not gonna notice the difference with a 40" 4k TV. You have to go like 60inch.
What if I have an 98 inch
"Someone with perfect vision can't tell the difference between a 65 inch 1080p and 4k TV when sitting 10 feet away; only at 8 feet and closer you start to notice the finer details on a 4k TV."
According to the chart a 98 inch TV you will noticed the details of 4k within 12 feet.

6:41 Why you not get the bot?
They love to lose money
Meanwhile I am quite pleased to be just about to upgrade to Pro... I mean PS4 Pro, obviously.
The 9th gen equivalent to 3DO
Charging 800 dollars for such minor changes is ridiculous lol
There are so many PS5 features that NO games use. I don’t know why no games use them
I don’t know how they did it they somehow made a device worse than the PS Portal.
This thing is about 12k+ or summ in my currency 💀
The regular PS5 is already 6k to 8k in my country already..... Everything is just hella expensive
This wasn’t the definition of “mid generation console” I thought they’d go with
I remain uncertain about the value proposition of the PS5 Pro particularly considering its high cost for seemingly minor enhancements.
Unreal how well your last video aged
Wow you’re back! Anyways can you do more kid Icarus memes
They must scam back the money they lost on concord.
In Europe its 900eur which is around 1100$.
So instead of the pro why don’t developers just lessen the amount of graphical fidelity? You can make beautiful games but less massive and with less trillions of particle effects
Cause thank you for your take cause I don’t even notice the true difference in performance vs fidelity mode graphic wise. Like I don’t care how ultra realistic the graphics are, I cannot bring myself go back to SM2 cause the story just isn’t it so why would “better” visuals make me wanna die play again
And I don’t care who you are but you can’t even consistently notice the difference in graphics compared from the pro to the base ps5. None of those comparison vids either, nobody is honestly saying “WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CANT SEE THE DIFFERENCE “
I always preferred playing in quality mode because I like graphics more
Then there is the issue of how previous consoles take up too much storage space now...and that's just a small part of the issue they say
i went and ordered online the ps5 slim phisical edition because of ps5 pro, im sure their planning on stop producing the disc versions of the ps5
In the games I've tested, I see no graphical difference between fidelity and performance modes. However it's a night and day difference between 30fps and 60fps. 60fps is a necessity.
No stand or disk drive and crappy games for $700? Thats a no from me dawg. Pc it is then
Having the option how to play is good though. Why would they do this to remove?
Fidelity mode is just a slight upgrade on the Pro and on the OG PS5 only difference is on the Pro you’ll get 60fps maybe depends on developers. To my eye there is a difference but you gotta get very close to your tv just to see it. From 5 feet away you won’t see any difference and I tested this on a 65” tv which should be big enough to see the quality differences.
Yeah I feel even more motivated to buy my PC and build it myself
🤔 You know for $700 you could get a standard PS5 (with a disc drive!) and a PlayStation Portal, or Nintendo Switch Lite 😉
Keep the base ps5 and with 700$ save more and start building a pc. Atleast you will be guaranteed to have gta 6 run at 60 fps 😂
Maybe Sony is testing the market if they'll accept a piece meal of a console for their PS6.
the goat is back
They need to recover concord's develoment cost lmao
I paid 700 dollars for my ps5 with tax, (in the us) and cause i had to get that god of war ragnarok controller, but that paid itself off in worth so...
i hope to not see a day where sony is going to charge 20 bucks for power cables which should come as standard.
Plus HDMI lead ..
PSP sold 50 millions with less games than PS5.
Doug clapping happily
eyy
on the bright side
the standard ps5 is now, not only cheaper, but more value for money
since it comes with buth a disk drive AND vertical stand
maybe thats the point here
I thought players used performance mode literally for that.
Definitely wrong.. the the PS5 pro is for the same people like myself that bought the PS4 pro.... also the portal is doing very well you should probably look up sources.
