This is an offshoot of the blues and rock music. Honky Tonk is an offshoot of country music. Not country western which combines two genres but just the country side.
Mrs.Britt, I wear the hillbilly title with pride !! I'm proud of my heritage, I come from up a holler in Eastern Kentucky and all of the things associated with that...that's me baby !!!!
The Marshall Tucker Band (Southern Rock, &/or Country Rock genre) with Toy Caldwell playing guitar and writing a lot of their music. They originated out of the Greenville / Spartanburg South Carolina area. Heard It In A Love Song and Can't You See, were their two biggest hits in the 70's. They were one of the Southern Rock jam bands along with The Allman Brothers, Molly Hatchet, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special, & The Charlie Daniels Band. Most of these bands originated out of Jacksonville Florida , with the exception of Marshall Tucker out of South Carolina and The Charlie Daniels out of Tennessee. Also in this similar genre with a Western rhythm & Blues flavor out of Texas, ZZ-Top, and Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble. Charlie Daniels paid tribute to a lot of these bands in the song "The South is Going to do it Again". I should mention The Outlaws out of Tampa Florida too. I know I'm missing probably a lot but these were the heavy hitters in the 70's.
Some of us still have long hair. You go into a skate rink on a Friday night in the mid 70s it's guaranteed this song was playing I miss my friends. Like I said of all the musicians I known over the last 45 yrs these guys was the most genuine nicest bunch of guys you would ever meet on the planet ❤
I agree with you when you said it's backyard barbecue music. It feels like family pulling out their guitars and harmonizing on a night with no family drama. Love these guys.
That part where it’s heard it in a love song “ can’t be wrong “. I had to convince a coworker it wasn’t “ten feet tall”. She was convinced it was heard it in a love song, ten feet tall.
Aww, memories! This was a favorite road trip song of mine. Cruzin down the old 66 with the windows down and my friends singing along! What a good time it was.
Hey Mrs, Brit, I live in a suburb in South Ga. The end of October every year we have the The Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival (when its not as hot) this year the Marshall Tucker Band is performing with Clint Black and Sara Evans opening for them.. Its usually fun and still plenty hot. Our little town swells to 3x its size. Fun while its here but always happy to see it end.
Southern rock, honky tonk, you can call it what you want! It's just feel good music! I saw Marshall Tucker Band in a bar at the end of his career. Good stuff.
southern rock. we're from dixie, and that's why we love our southern flag. rebel flag a sign of the south in this era, but not in a racist way. the way you described the sound (backyard bbq and such) is exactly the way some southern rock comes across, but don't confuse it with solid country.
Hey Britt I wish you would check out the Allman Brothers Band, when Duane was still alive. Live at the Fillmore East LP would be great for you to hear. Thanks for your videos
Check out their song Searchin’ For A Rainbow. Another Southern Rock band you need to explore is The Outlaws. Green Grass And High Tides has one of the best and longest guitar jams you’ll ever hear and Knoxville Girl is just a fun way up tempo song that you will love.
This was a staple for every one that was crew on commercial fishing boats in Alaska at that time. Even us kids would play it at our beach bonfire parties, including the ones the parents DIDNT know about. Believe it or not there was quite the community of kids that normally only seen one another during the summer. Fast friends through good times and bad. R.I.P. Mark Coulthurst, 28, the Investor’s skipper; his pregnant wife, Irene Coulthurst, also 28; their two children, Kimberly, 5, and John, 4 and the crew murdered that horrible September day and To all our Friends and Family lost at sea.
Honky Tonk music is considered country music. This is southern country rock music. As far as the confederate flag, I'm 67 and grew up not thinking anything about slavery being attached to it but to us southerners, we felt it denoted the southern country way of life. Nothing to do with the north or western states. I was born and raised in South Georgia and relish my southern countryness(I made that word up) and way of life, our southern drawl, laid back attitude and most of all our grits and fatback! LOL.
MTB is southern rock with a bit more of a country influence than the others. With several of their songs they made flute playing cool like Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. The hair bands of the 80's had nothing on the long-haired bands of the 1970's musically or hair wise. One thing about displaying the Confederate Battle flag, it is a sign of heritage pride and not racisms. And those who do fly in a racist way are an embarrassment and do not deserve to look upon something that so many of our ancestors fought and died under. (Hopping off my little soap box).
The term "redneck" originated in the United States, particularly in the South, and its exact origins are debated. One theory suggests that it stems from the sunburned necks of outdoor laborers, particularly farmers, who worked long hours in the fields. Another theory links it to the red bandanas worn by striking coal miners during the early 20th century. Initially, "redneck" was a descriptive term referring to rural, working-class white people, often with agricultural backgrounds. Over time, it has evolved into a somewhat derogatory slang term, often associated with stereotypes of conservative, uneducated, or narrow-minded individuals from rural areas, particularly in the Southern United States.
Southern Rock/Jazz Fusion - see Capricorn Records of Macon, GA who are credited with creating the Southern Rock genre and from 1969 - 1979 produced nine Platinum albums, seventeen Gold albums and five Gold singles from acts such as The Marshall Tucker Band, The Allman Brothers Band, Bonnie Bramlett, Delbert McClinton, Dixie Dregs, Percy Sledge, Wet Willie etc. etc. etc. I prefer the studio version of this - he's Hamming it up too much in this one. Also, react to the title track from their second album A NEW LIFE, as well as TAKE THE HIGHWAY from their first (self-titled) album.
Got another band for you to check out! Another southern rock band and it’s the resurgence of the hair bands🤭 The band is Blackberry Smoke in a live performance of “Shakin’ Hands With The Holy Ghost.” This band has so many songs that it was hard to choose just one! Enjoy: ua-cam.com/video/hBGPpZ_6erw/v-deo.htmlsi=f4_QvemtyhgSpNAl
The Marshall Tucker Band were part of a thing called "Southern Rock."
You need to hear the studio version
Yup! Far better.

This is an offshoot of the blues and rock music. Honky Tonk is an offshoot of country music. Not country western which combines two genres but just the country side.
This song was all over the radio in 1977.
My favorite Marshall Tucker song.
Same,,,💥💥💥🤪

There's a rawness to The Marshall Tucker Band that I really enjoy. They're not perfect, but they're definitely fun. Good driving song.
The guy in the white shirt was the flute player. Lol!
They were brothers, Tommy and Toy Caldwell. It's called Southern Rock.
Some of us still have long hair. You go into a skate rink on a Friday night in the mid 70s it's guaranteed this song was playing
I miss my friends. Like I said of all the musicians I known over the last 45 yrs these guys was the most genuine nicest bunch of guys you would ever meet on the planet ❤
Growing up 30 miles from Spartanburg, we called MTB our hometown band.
Gonna have to pull out my Marshall Tucker Band LPs and digitize them so I can listen to this great music again.
Same. All on vinyl.
The guy with the bass voice with the white shirt and glasses is also the flute player.
You should hear me wailing along with the classic tune in the car! What a great, happy song!
I saw them in concert during college in 1978 or 79, can't remember! They are so much fun.
it has a sound called “muscle sholes”. allman brothers really brought this sound to country:southern rock
Amen 🇺🇸
Muscle Shoals - the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section - Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
I agree with you when you said it's backyard barbecue music. It feels like family pulling out their guitars and harmonizing on a night with no family drama. Love these guys.
Yeah, I always felt like their music was like a bunch of folks jamming in the back yard in the summer. Great stuff.
And a awsome road trip song too
Pure southern rock
Jazz, Rock , Country fusion . These guys are a genre of their own . This is my sunday morning vibe music .
Good old Southern Rock!
The Allman Brothers was another southern rock band to look into. Basically from Macon, GA.
I would suggest Allman Brother songs Ramblin Man, Sweet Melissa, or Midnight Rider.
They were great
That part where it’s heard it in a love song “ can’t be wrong “. I had to convince a coworker it wasn’t “ten feet tall”. She was convinced it was heard it in a love song, ten feet tall.
southern rock
💥💥💥💥💥 Really glad you like this !!! 💥💥💥💥💥
two different guys
Such a great song in the vehicle! Roll the windows down and soak it up! They’re playing it a little faster than the studio version. 😊
One of the best of a generation
Those are two different guys sweetie!! ❤❤❤
This young lady knows music, inside out, upside down and backwards and forwards. And she's very pretty.
I saw them 4 times back in the day (the 70's). I love Doug Grays voice.
Check out the songs “Fire On The Mountain” and “Cant You See”.
have you done "can't you see " there is a live version worth watching
The term honky tonk has been used since the 1800s in Texas and Oklahoma to describe saloon type places that played music and had variety shows.
Aww, memories! This was a favorite road trip song of mine. Cruzin down the old 66 with the windows down and my friends singing along! What a good time it was.
Check out the studio version some time Britt. Sounds much better IMOP. Thanks for the great song choice.
Agreed.

seen them couple times back in the day...great reaction
"Ramblin'" live is a must see be. They are from Spartanburg South Carolina
Southern Rock was just different. All of the great bands had their own distinct sound.
Go down that rabbit hole. You'll enjoy it. Garon-damn-teed.
This was one of my favorites as a teen. The Steve miller band was enormous in Texas
Southern rock, honky tonk, you can call it what you want! It's just feel good music! I saw Marshall Tucker Band in a bar at the end of his career. Good stuff.
This is Southern Rock.. MTB is one of the best. They have been showing you old film of the same song in a present version.
The guy in the white shirt was the flute player
Studio version needed
Love this song

I got to see them in 2018 before the world stopped. They KILLED.
Needless to say, they're a lot older now (aren't we all?)
This concert was in New Jersey. The Confederate flag back then was just used to show that we were young rebels, nothing racial.
Original singer was incredible. The white and blue shirt were two different dude lol
Marshall Tucker, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers Band... Pioneers of "Southern Rock" as a genre.
I have not heard Marshall Tucker band since I saw a shirt in my high school years
My cuzzin was a founding member of The Marshall Tucker Band George McCorkle.
If you want an awesome singer with long, flowing hair, Paul Davis is your man!
Hey Britt I wish you would check out the Allman Brothers Band, when Duane was still alive. Live at the Fillmore East LP would be great for you to hear. Thanks for your videos
Check out their song Searchin’ For A Rainbow.

Marshall Tucker Band was the bridge between country music and southern rock in the mid 70s.
Can't you see was sung by Toy Caldwell, this song is being sung by Doug Gray.
This one is an all timer 👏👏👏

this is a very smooth southern rock song. Some is a little harder.
Another great southern country band is Confederate Railroad
You can ask whatever question you like. We know you're not trying to be mean to anyone.
🥰🥰
He don't quite go that overboard on his vibrato on the studio version it's a little much I agree
Got another band for you to check out!
