Yep, ... which is why the video Thumbnail confused me SO much. 50 years what?! I sadly suppose from a 2024-hyper-current-focus, in a stretch, you COULD sorta say that, BUT for a Gen X viewer that's the difference between a song from when I was 4 to a song from when I was 8. For a music enthusiast, that's a range when MOST of the DISCO era happened from 1974 to that later point of going #1 in early autumn 78. For someone who lived through it, music had evolved so much in those 4 1/2 years. At the same time, the thumbnail worked and got me to watch, so there's that.
“ Good music is good music.” You said it, babe. A lot of us who were around in the 70s are now realizing just how fortunate we were. We just didn’t know it at the time. It was great to be alive and livin’ back then! Keep the vibe going!
I can still remember riding in the car as a child in the 70's with this song playing on a single dash speaker broadcast over AM..!! Music created back when people still had HOPE that life would be rewarding..!! The overall quality of life was so much better back then..!! I'd gladly give up computers, cell phones, and 24hr shopping to have those times back..!!
The 70's were great because there were so many styles of music coexisting together and there was something for everyone. Sampling different styles, it just worked
Yep, and I guess you classify Exile as a general American music band (all over the place). This is definitely a rock song but they made their career as a Country band. Saw them in the 90s when I was working in radio. A #1 and the 5th biggest song of 1978 in a year dominated by the Bee Gees.
Nice rich full sound. A whole group coming together to make music sounds so nice. The difference in looks between the different band members is wild. It's like the lead singer just dropped in from another planet.
I haven't heard this song in years! I need to put in my mp3 player. Back in the late '70s I saw Exile open for Nazareth, what a great night that was. I'll never forget. Great reaction Britt! "His body is here but his mind is on the other side of town". Hahaha. Well said.
Generations of people were made due to the hippy love music of the 60's, the rock of the 70's, the rock ballads of the 80's, the R&B of the 90's......... This is a rollerskating song, for a friday night.
Jimmy Stokley lead singer from Richmond Ky. Left the band in 1980 and passed away in 1985 from a liver disease. This was by far their biggest hit as it was number 1 on charts for four weeks and was #5 all time for 1978
I don't think they got the recognition they deserved coming from a small town in KY . but back in the 70s if you followed them and their music I'd have to say one of the best rock bands I ever heard I use to could name all these on this particular film time has slipped up on I can only remember Jimmy Stokley and JP Pennington. The band at one time was called Jimmy Stokley and the exiles . stokley and Pennington started the band when they was in high school . The Two keyboard players they where different but amusing I don't think they liked each other very much but man could they not punch out some good keys . I always thought their dislike made them better . and they thought Jimmy was eccentric. The one guy always wore everything white with tails . They all had better than average vocal skills very talented.
The Midnight Special was the greatest show!!! The Midnight Special (TV series)- The Midnight Special is an American late-night musical variety series originally broadcast on NBC during the 1970s and early 1980s, created and produced by Burt Sugarman.
Many a late night with this in the background back in the day. Love your reaction from a newer generation! Your reactions are the best! Absolutely love your laugh, it is so infectious.
A lot of people only know Exile for this one song. You'd never know it but they are actually a country band from here in Kentucky. I was lucky enough to work as the photographer for their 2023 4th of July show and people were blown away thinking that they were more of this pop/disco genre. They still got it, by the way, but the original lead singer sadly passed just a few years after this song was recorded.
About to watch. This was a radio-friendly hit that I as a rocker am ashamed to admit I liked back in the day. Edit: Britt, you should have been a child of the 70's. Every day a new banger like this came on the radio and we barely put down our tomato and cheese sandwiches.
Britt, try the band band Bread(Best of Bread Album). In the "70's", it was the album we put on at the end of the party, when people were "pairing up", and curling up on something warm & soft.(try "Make it with you, or Everything I own, or It don't matter to me, or Baby Im-a want you), either will do the trick. ;)
I was 15 years old when this was released. The 70s were the best time of my life. You young lady are very beautiful, wish you were alive at that time I would have loved to have kissed you all over.. Nothing but respect for you. Fine Dining and loving. 💗🥰🧨❤️
The band Exile was formed at Madison Central High School in Richmond, Kentucky in 1963. Richmond is my hometown, and I went to school at Madison Central. I have occasionally run into former band members from Exile. I have attended many of Exiles concerts here in Kentucky. Great band, and great bunch of guys!
This is one of my fave videos to watch to make me smile. The singer (I think his name was Jimmy Stokley) in the blue jumpsuit is my fave! His big jumps at the end are my fave. I love this song so much! ♡
I used to drive for a food service company back when this was out and I remember one of the restaurants on my route was a strip club and this song along with Nick Gilder's "Hot Child In the City" was always on when the girls were dancing. So you should do that one next Britt for all those hard working girls out there.😉
One of the best records there ever was, my other half was besotted with it and if you listen to it a dozen times you will get to love it also, harmonies are on point throughout the whole record and one that puts the hairs up on my arms every time I listen to it, great to see you understand the music
This is what a record we took off the turntable in HS, threw it against the wall shattering it, sounded like. Replaced by ELPs Karn Evil 9. Then the party started rocking.
So for some reason had this song in my head today. Came on YT to listen. Saw there was a BrittReacts for it. Had to listen, cause she does fun reaction videos. Not disappointed. I was a Junior in HS when this song came out. This song was the theme song and responsible for more than a couple of teen pregnancies.
Ms. Britt at 4:22 you made reference to the song "your body's here with me but your mind is on the other side of town". That song was done by the legendary O'jays in 1979 you should have your listeners react to that song. It speaks volumes. O'jays for life.
I’m 60 and I remember hearing this on the radio. Recently, I rediscovered this song and can’t stop playing it. What’s that saying, they don’t make them like they used to?
I just found your channel and have been binge watching for last hour. My goodness!!!!! You’re amazing. The music is amazing. But your reactions are the best! Wow. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😮😮😮😮
Wow I miss the 70’s so bad, Jr High and my High School years the best cars best music ever .I am 63 now and I sat down with a couple of my friends that we went from Grade school Jr.High , High School , and Graduated together and our Senior trip was Marine Bootcamp and had a Lady listening to us and she looked at us and said you guys really miss it don’t you. We laughed and said what the hell happened 😂Oh I forgot the best Clothes as well
When my folks heard it they said ‘what does he mean kiss you all over, that’s silly’ and I just thought they were old fashioned and didn’t understand my generation. I was about 16 when it came out and I still love this song, never saw the video until later but I loved dancing to this with my lover at the disco and we had two babies so it worked on us. Today I play it to recapture that beautiful feeling of first love.
They were from my hometown here in Kentucky. I got to see them live in concert back in the late 2000's at Lake Reba for the 4th of July. They are AMAZING!!
I was 8 yo when I first head it and LOVED it. I never knew what they looked like and last year I saw it and I play it loud ALL THE TIME!. I LOVE the lead singer and also love his vibe!! He does the splits at the end! I can't get enough of it. The lead Jimmy Stokley is awesome!
This brings back great memories. Walking/and dancing in a ballroom/ with the disco ball over head. I met my hubby in a place like that. Hard to believe all men had hair that long......Women ratted their hair/and wore white lipstick. Excellent song, it was always on the jukebox in these cool ballroom/disco's. Thank you..I so enjoy your personality.
LMAO Beth here, your killing me , i'm 60 yrs old and i loved this song when i was like 13 yrs old, and now i look at the video and im like wth was i thinking , but ya man i love the vocals still, so funny.
I think Steve Miller said it best. I am paraphrasing here. He said “We played that game of getting a string of hits. Alot of the success of pop records hinged on if you could craft and write a song with “5 hooks”.
This is one of my favorite 70 songs that I have in my collection and I do myself love a good bass one of my favorite songs that has good bass is Tommy Bolin post toastee also a song that I've been listening to a lot lately is Donna Summer I Feel Love keep enjoying the music
This 67 yr old man loved watching you listing/reacting to this wonderful classic. I know this song ( like millions) every word, every note and can’t help but sing along every time I hear it!
1978 when I was in high school. It was a very sexy song. Lunch place across from school had a jukebox and this was played very often. So many great memories. Music is the soundtrack of our lives.
Gotta listen to this one imagining your at the top of your game in roller skates. This was me in my first school skate with Melinda. I might have been 7, and it might have been 1982 but this song just made those things happen earlier than usual.
You might remember this from Happy Gilmore, it was the scene where he was singing into the intercom to his ex-girlfriend. The Chinese lady came up to his apartment.
I followed to this video from your reaction of Wild Cherry…I started laughing when I saw you did a reaction to this song because it is soooo right up your alley! 😂😂😂.
The 70's were the best.
I turned 16 in 1970. So I agree!
Hell yeah! ❤️
Best ever nothing like the 70’s music …
70’s and 80’s. BEST time to grow up.
my 20s were the 80s and nothing beats the 1980s :)
This song was a hit in summer 1978 by Exile...45 1/2 years ago.
Are ya callin' us old...? lol
Yep, ... which is why the video Thumbnail confused me SO much. 50 years what?!

@@jeffreymosher6334Happy to be old lol, we had so much great music the youngsters won't ever discover, and new music, doesn't need discovery.
Ahhh yessss i was a Freshmen in High School when this hit the Radio
46 now. Same age as me! 😊
“ Good music is good music.” You said it, babe. A lot of us who were around in the 70s are now realizing just how fortunate we were. We just didn’t know it at the time. It was great to be alive and livin’ back then! Keep the vibe going!

In the blink of an eye. Click the heels of ruby shoes together 3X...I'm gone!
Me too, get me a time machine!
You are HALARIOUS! I remember when this song was first released. The 70's were awesome!
The 70's were great because there were so many styles of music coexisting together and there was something for everyone. Sampling different styles, it just worked
one of my favorites from back in the day...
Grew up in the 70s and I get such a kick out of seeing young people dig on real music.
Me too!
This was standard FM radio for us and to see these kids get turned on for the first time is a kick!
The 70s music was the very best. Great rock music, great soft rock music.
Yep, and I guess you classify Exile as a general American music band (all over the place). This is definitely a rock song but they made their career as a Country band. Saw them in the 90s when I was working in radio. A #1 and the 5th biggest song of 1978 in a year dominated by the Bee Gees.

He did
😁😁😁
He could drop in on my planet any day!
Yea he dropped in from another planet. I think he was Indian.

WOW it's great many of the younger generation love our old music I am 78 still listening in Sept 2024
This was the only number 1 song on the pop charts but they had 10 on the country charts in the 80's.
You should listen to the extended version. They go back and forth in the second verse.
Forever will be one of my favorite songs.
The lead singer loves his job More than anyone I've ever seen! He had a right to harm whoever cut his hair!
A lot of people only know Exile for this one song. You'd never know it but they are actually a country band from here in Kentucky. Harmonies like that made '70's music so good. I wish the music writers would work more of that sort of thing back into music today.
About to watch. This was a radio-friendly hit that I as a rocker am ashamed to admit I liked back in the day. Edit: Britt, you should have been a child of the 70's. Every day a new banger like this came on the radio and we barely put down our tomato and cheese sandwiches.
Love your reactions Britt!!! You’ve got an old soul, meaning, you feel good music as we felt it when it came out ❤
I was around 15 when this song came out. My friends and I would melt at that opening, ending with the "yea-eh." Chills -- every time. lol
Britt, try the band band Bread(Best of Bread Album). "Good music is good music", yes it is.

70’s AM radio gold!
Thank you for renewing my love for 70s music!

Never thought of this as a strip club song, "Hot Child In the City" makes sense. The laid-back strip club song certainly has its place!

Absolutely love this song.
This is what a #1 record sounds like back in the day.

A great era for music..

I grow up listening to Exile they are from Kentucky
They just celebrated 50 years together the remaining living members
I tell you what young lady..... you are one of my favorite channels to watch. You are an original...... just like no life shaq. Keep doing you!
I’m 60 and I remember hearing this on the radio. Recently, I rediscovered this song and can’t stop playing it. What’s that saying, they don’t make them like they used to?
I love your reviews and your on point and love your attitude and you can reconize great music, thank you.
I just found your channel and have been binge watching for last hour. My goodness!!!!! You’re amazing. The music is amazing. But your reactions are the best! Wow. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😮😮😮😮

I seen them play in a big hotel venue in 1980 in Nashville as pop soft rock artists and again same hotel in 1987 as country artists.
This song was written by Australian songwriter Mike Chapman who is still living here in Queensland.
Another surprise tune right! Who would think this throaty sound would come out!
Loved your reaction ! This song is a classic ! ❤
3:47 it was 1978. That rhythm was practically a requirement in every song. 😊
Thanks for bringing this back to this old man
Great song and reaction Britt! Exile went on to become a huge COUNTRY music band in the 80's!
You were so fun reacting to this song. I am hooked!
Great song from a great band. Love Exile’s music. May Jim Stokely the lead singer with long hair RIP. He went thru so much in his life. Sad
They were from my hometown here in Kentucky. I got to see them live in concert back in the late 2000's at Lake Reba for the 4th of July. They are AMAZING!!
I Absolutely LOVE your reaction to this song! By the way you are ABSOLUTELY Beautiful.
That guy could just about go anywhere on the vocal scale . He was one of the best male vocalist I've ever heard.
I crack myself up too and quite frequently😆
You're ridiculously infectious, love your energy!!
No not every male had hair that long but his was below his belt.
Nothing sweeter than some 70’s & 80’s songs. Happy you went into the rabbit hole with these great songs.
I had to see tour reaction to him going down at the end lol 😭 i love it
I sang it into my ring camera, Happy Gilmore-style
LMAO Beth here, your killing me , i'm 60 yrs old and i loved this song when i was like 13 yrs old, and now i look at the video and im like wth was i thinking , but ya man i love the vocals still, so funny.
I think Steve Miller said it best. I am paraphrasing here. He said “We played that game of getting a string of hits. Alot of the success of pop records hinged on if you could craft and write a song with “5 hooks”.
Music is timeless, a lot of radio stations refused to play it because they thought it was dirty
This was the best of the best. You dont hear music like this anymore..
This is one of my favorite 70 songs that I have in my collection and I do myself love a good bass one of my favorite songs that has good bass is Tommy Bolin post toastee also a song that I've been listening to a lot lately is Donna Summer I Feel Love keep enjoying the music

Another great band known for ballads and harmony together is a group RESTLESS HEART
1978 when I was in high school. It was a very sexy song. Lunch place across from school had a jukebox and this was played very often. So many great memories. Music is the soundtrack of our lives.
One of my all time favourite songs 🕺🕺🕺🕺
Oh my … this song takes me back to my late teen years and some really hot moments. Wow!
The 70were the best years for music
LOve your reaction! What a doll!
The song you were trying to remember the refrain from is Lyin Eyes, by Eagles. I think they did that one around 77!!
I was in 4th grade!!! Remember this from the summer of 1975 or 76!! What a great song. Still love it at 56
Gotta listen to this one imagining your at the top of your game in roller skates. This was me in my first school skate with Melinda. I might have been 7, and it might have been 1982 but this song just made those things happen earlier than usual.
Love you and your reactions !! The Country-Disco genre was short-lived...
This was on the jukebox at a bar, me and my girl at the time loved it ! :)
I saw this band when this song came out in my very small town then 40 years later in the same small town, they were awesome both times✌️
Hahahaha! I had this on 45.
Used to listen to it all the time!
(45 was little record singles one song on each side)
I LOVE THIS SONG! I haven’t heard it in over 30 years! Thank you for this reaction!!!😊
It's what we call a bedroom voice!!💜💜💜
You might remember this from Happy Gilmore, it was the scene where he was singing into the intercom to his ex-girlfriend. The Chinese lady came up to his apartment.
Loved this song blarring on my car radio back in the day. Reminds me off good times.
You're hitting on all my favorite 70s song's you make smile laugh & at time's cry I'm 67 & I said it before I love you & you're reactions
Very authentic reaction......thanks
I followed to this video from your reaction of Wild Cherry…I started laughing when I saw you did a reaction to this song because it is soooo right up your alley! 😂😂😂.
It was nice to see a young attractive woman diggin a song from my youth! Refreshing and fun!
I just discovered her, when she does Player, Baby Come Back, crackes me up. I'm glad she has an ear for great music! 62 here btw.
