Frank would have an unfair advantage being the generalist, and somehow does that with former students on his or their personnal channels. And let’s not forget Epicurious is the school’s channel and those shows are part of student’s training.
Joe is hilarious, I want to quote back so many things he says 😂 Starting with turning the other langustines away so they don’t see what he does to the first one 😢
Frank is a really great teacher 😊. His breakdown of unfamiliar terminologies is awesome 👌 and I can definitely follow. Joe is hilarious as usual 🤣 😂 😆. Great video Epicurious.
Frank is wildly likable and entertaining. What they should do is invite a subscriber to come cook a recipe of their own against Frank or something similar. That would be awesome
Totally different to what we call scampi in the UK. Over here, it’s basically the tail meat of a langoustine formed into balls and battered or breadcrumbed and it’s gorgeous
Frank, you are one the best cookery teachers. You radiate calm and "you can do this", you explain the reason for everything you do and provide all the tips we'd need, and you make everyone know they can do it.
Frank! I love it! You taught me a new way to make shrimp scampi and it looks delicious! I really enjoyed this video! Thank you Saul for bringing cooking to life even to giving shellfish names!
Ramps just grow in my backyard....... I love them they're delicious! Edited to add: those ramps were not harvested properly in order to ensure future growth. Always just pick one of the leaves out of the two, do not dig up the bulb. Ramps are becoming few and far between due to unsustainable harvesting by digging up the bulbs. Only clip off one of the two - three leaves per bulb
Scampi is an Italian word specifically for langoustine, aka Norwegian lobster. When you hear shrimp scampi, it is mostly because it is made with other shrimp that is not the langoustine variety.
@@northernsnow6982 no, I would not agree. that is not mostly why. It is because many Italian-Americans think scampi is a verb, a way to prepare a dish, not the specific ingredient.
@angela_apple Choose to believe what you want. When you know the dish is named specifically for the ingredient, and that ingredient costs over $100 for that dish, you can understand why Americans don't want to pay for authentic scampi. That's why they make scampi made with shrimp or 'shrimp scampi' as it is called.
In italian it is doublespeak, but in most other languages, Scampi is method of preparation for a dish that usually uses seafood, not an ingredient. So you might (for example) make a scallop scampi or fish scampi instead. Langoustines (the item referred to in Italian as Scampi) are basically unobtainable outside of the European region, so everyone else has to do something else.
Looking at things closer...I notice the knick-knacks behind each chef are different. So...can I guess that y'all actually have two kitchens, and the chefs are cooking roughly simultaneously? With Frank somehow able to pass advice to Jo as needed? I've been trying to figure out the time frame of cooking, and advice, and serving/eating the dishes. I know I've asked in the comments of other videos.
Well, the shrimp, wine, and EVOO accounts for about $240 of the recipe. You could scale back some of the higher end stuff and bring frank's recipe down to about $80-120
How about: two pro chefs with each their own choice of dishes’ ingredients, swap them without telling them what they’re making, just give them few clues. I think it might be interesting to see how accurate the results will be
Frank giving a shout out to Saul brings us one step closer to a Frank vs Saul ingredient switch!! MAKE IT HAPPEN
Clash of Titans!
YES!!!! The jokes would be as epic as the dishes!
they need to make it some cuisine that neither are experienced with. like dim sum
Rumble in the jungle Or kitchen my I say
I'm still waiting for the pro chef vs pro chef series where they switch ingredients.
Yup, I commented that a while ago and it got a lottt of love. everyoneeeee wants it haha😄
you need to buy two books
I want to see them cook together, actually.
Frank would have an unfair advantage being the generalist, and somehow does that with former students on his or their personnal channels.
And let’s not forget Epicurious is the school’s channel and those shows are part of student’s training.
Saul vs Frank!!
love how it feels like Joe has no idea how he's gonna end his sentence
This is the funniest thing anybody’s ever said about me
Selfie with the brick is hilarious.
What timestamp?
@@h3eartbreak 16:25
omg did not actually noticed it haha
The bricks are hidden somewhere in the kitchen every time you see me after I use them
"Rampi Scampi Langoustini Crostini" 😂Joe is hilarious
Joe is hilarious, I want to quote back so many things he says 😂 Starting with turning the other langustines away so they don’t see what he does to the first one 😢
That brick is genius
Joe is hilarious
Frank is a really great teacher 😊. His breakdown of unfamiliar terminologies is awesome 👌 and I can definitely follow. Joe is hilarious as usual 🤣 😂 😆. Great video Epicurious.
I seriously could not stop laughing throughout this episode! Love Joe and Frank as a duo!
Butter poaching is what I use for shrimp and grits. The butter (not that much) I cooked the shrimp in get some milk and cheese and add the grits.
Joe is so based. I adore his commentary.
This is the first time I've ever seen Joe but I already love him
I had to pause the video in amazement of Frank's final presentation. HOW!?!?!?
Wonderful video as always. I look forward to these.
Great chemistry.
I could barely focus on the recipes, I was laughing all the time. Such a great episode. Both chefs are awesome ❤
Yeah c’mon guys, you know we want two pro chefs to swap ingredients, so let us have it. 🤤🤤🤤
bluds such a fan of the brick lmao
I can’t cook without it
So happy to see Joe back!
Need more of this duo!!!! They are so funny 🤣🤣
I love this combo so much. Joe’s dry humor and Frank’s knowledge are so fun to see together
Can we do a show with Saul trying to teach Joe? I feel like they’d be hilarious together
We worked together making chili 🫡
Let's go Chef Frank vs Chef Saul.
Make it happen Epicurious
Frank is wildly likable and entertaining. What they should do is invite a subscriber to come cook a recipe of their own against Frank or something similar. That would be awesome
i find him very unlikeable
@@NMN_CPreally? i like him! he’s very knowledgeable yet he isn’t arrogant & he knows things can be done in different ways
the goat frank proto is back
These two are gold!
So fun to see them swap. Two well prepared dishes. Kudos.
Joe is the best 😂😂😂🙏
My absolute favorite episode ever❤❤❤
Frank and Joe are the dream team 😂😂
Thank you Frank for validating my opinion that more butter is better! 😂
Still waiting for Joe's Chunkless Mustard Brand Mustard!
I’m still looking for investors!
Chef Frank is a culinary magician. Frank vs Saul would be an interesting educational experience.
"I don't know what I did, but it looks pretty."
I like Joe.
Totally different to what we call scampi in the UK. Over here, it’s basically the tail meat of a langoustine formed into balls and battered or breadcrumbed and it’s gorgeous
Lets get joe a new nickname. Brick king joe 😂🎉
I’m using it
Great collab!
I'd love to see another episode with Joe and Yuji together
Frank, you are one the best cookery teachers. You radiate calm and "you can do this", you explain the reason for everything you do and provide all the tips we'd need, and you make everyone know they can do it.
Some say Frank uses time traveling techniques to get his ingredients at PEAK seasons 🧐
I'm surprised that a Brick wasn't part of Joe's ingredients.
This was a cute episode!!
I'm here for the growing Epicurious Culinary Universe
16:26 I can't stop laughing 😂😂😂 Joe is so hilarious ❤❤❤
Notice how they redid Joe's plating to make it neater 😅
I did my best!
This had me laughing all the way through. I need a brick in my kitchen.
The shout out to Chef Saúl cause we all know he's a king!!!
They never show chefs eating the shrimp shells, but dayumn they're delicious!
They’re always saved for stocks
Shrimp 3:17 plating 15:11
"Joe's ingredients are a little simpler." INDEED!
I really wonder if any chef would really cook such extravagant dishes if it wasn’t paid by the prod
I was just about to binge watch the series!!
Pretends to be upset: “nooooooo stop. Please. 😮👀”
Shramp 🦐
The langoustine scampi looked absolutely delicious... but definitely not worth $349!!!!!
Calabria is all about chili and red onion. They even have chili and red onion flavoured ice cream!
...and red little balls.😆
Frank! I love it! You taught me a new way to make shrimp scampi and it looks delicious! I really enjoyed this video! Thank you Saul for bringing cooking to life even to giving shellfish names!
I need to get some bricks for my next kitchen gadget. Clearly they are ubiquitious!
Joe’s just taking “brick joke” to a whole new level 😂
One word: brick
Joe is so funny,
Ever thought of a pro chef vs pro chef? Like Frank and Saul? I'm sure the hundreds of other people commenting the same thing would agree lol
I prefer the simple way
I never clicked so fast!
Customer complaint? Just tell them the chef cooks with bricks, and will be happy to provide a personal demonstration.
Would have been awesome to see the pro-chef passed the brick just to see the reaction.
Ramps just grow in my backyard....... I love them they're delicious!

"Shrimp Scampi" is the same as saying "Chai Tea"
Scampi is an Italian word specifically for langoustine, aka Norwegian lobster. When you hear shrimp scampi, it is mostly because it is made with other shrimp that is not the langoustine variety.
"Oh I love chai tea"

Joe should be the only guest.
I accept
Cereal, brick
😭😭😭
Frank and saul switch ingredient and make their own dish. MAKE IT HAPPEN
I would watch a series where the pro chef makes the dish with their professional ingredients
Well, the shrimp, wine, and EVOO accounts for about $240 of the recipe. You could scale back some of the higher end stuff and bring frank's recipe down to about $80-120
I agree let's see the pros do the ingredient switch
Can we get another Expert video?
Joe is a keeper. 😂
So happy he didn’t break the noodles 😊

Noooo he threw out the tomalley! That’s the best part!
Nice receipy.
Side note: in french, the ’c’ in blanc is silent.
he kinda looks like John Holland
Hand me a brick to throw at the like button!
Frank 👑
Im allergic to shrimp yet i am watching this video because frank's in it
I'M here!
If scampi are essentially shrimp, why are we naming this dish shrimp shrimp pasta?
Langoustines are not quite shrimp. Outside of Europe, the term scampi is more of a method because langoustines are hard to come by
Am I the only one who thinks he looks like John legend? Call him John langoustine.
Couldn’t hurt to try
I wish I didn’t have a shellfish allergy after seeing this.
You can prepare fish in this style as well - firm white fleshed ocean fish can be prepared like this and it comes out extremely well.
What does scampi exactly mean in English? Cause in Italian it means langoustines, a different animal form shrimp
one of these days i would love if the Expensive recipe ends up using less ingredients than the cheap one, mostly for comedy sake
Joe's a funny dude. Unfortunately, I can't eat this dish because I'm allergic to shellfish, but they both look amazing.
Here the scampi has some creme in it
Douglas Luiz went to Juventus and immediately started cooking Italian cuisine
Where do you sign up to be a homecook? 😅
Using lobster in a shrimp scampi is a pro-chef move indeed. Still gross ocean-bugs, but they look very cool on the plate.
Delicious ocean-bugs!
Just no.... Ciabatta 10 Dollar??? Butter for 14? Those prices are made-up or someone had way too much fun in a specialty store.
So those scrimps are $31 dollars a piece?
Considering how far they had to go to get there
It’s been soo long😅
i wouldn t begin with bread
