I grew up on a farm but never got to learn this as my grandpa always sent our mares out for breeding purposes as we didnt have any stallions on the farm and AI and (forgive the term if its wrong) IXY were not available. Our mares were, i believe the term is , live covered. The last mare we had was when i was 10 yrs old and I'm now in my mid 50's. So a long time ago.

    Just wanted to preface how amazing you are Katie and how grateful I am for coming across your page a few years ago. After my dad passed, I lost my love for horses and pretty much everything else and I cannot express how healing it's been watching your videos ❤. Now I have a gelded Arabian cross and he is my earth angel.
    There was a question I couldn't ask my dad. When I was young, I got permission to go and see about eight mares that were grazing. I went and the mares all slowly came towards me, ears forward, neck relaxed and they surrounded me in a circle and were docile. None of them looked stressed, their feet were also neutral and they were happy with all the scratches. Was that bad behavior? What does it mean when horses do that ? I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find a straight answer, so I figured either you or your fans could help ! ❤️

    • @loridorii
      @loridorii 8 місяців тому +1

      Horses can tell ages. My gelding liked kids better than adults, even when they were the same height. They liked you. Doesn't really matter if it was "good" or "bad", in my opinion. As long as everyone was safe, it was what it was.
