      All these techniques have existed since 2009 afaik. I learned them in my graphic design classes back then. Still its a good showcase of how these artists are using them expertly. Some artists try to keep their tricks to themselves unfortunately which may be why not many people know about these.

    Your channel is an absolute godsend! I have been searching for workflows and processes that japanese artists use, but I couldn't find any on yt, + a lot of them didn't explain what they were doing and I felt demotivated and just gave up. But I'm so glad you did this, I can finally learn what I wanted to for so long!! Even the way you edit videos are insane!!! It makes me want to watch more. I would love to see your video-editing process too!
    Thank you so much again, keep going, I think your channel is going places!

  • @NeroDeamon
    @NeroDeamon Рік тому +40

    man this was so good. i switched to clip studio paint this year so i tried figuring out if some of there were also available in csp and some are!! like linear dodge in csp is just "add". The same effect as outer glow(almost) can be achieved by "border effects". which is the same as "stroke" in photoshop. gradients, curves, levels, etc are all available in csp. the things that arent are LUTS, filter gallery, camera raw. but i guess that's just one of those reason to never quit photoshop haha.
    before this i swear to god i use to look at artist like these and think "Jesus, these guys are living in another plane of existence" but now i feel a little closer to them. thankyou for teaching us these cool things and actually showing us how to figure them out and learn.

    A lot of these techniques are great time savers! They can really make a work that was otherwise missing something just "pop." However, they won't magically make your work good if you don't have a good foundational understanding of the basics. It's the same story over and over-- at the end of the day, good tools are just good tools. It's how you use them that counts, and there's no shortcuts when it comes to learning the basics.

    The 5th technique can be replicated with Photoshop's gradient maps as well. That's my favorite technique as a designer
    3:40 To be be more accurate, I'd even say that for this method to work, your image gotta feature a lot of value. When there a very few shades of gray, it just doesn't work

    • @ahleenah
      @ahleenah Рік тому +4

      True, although camera raw is easier to learn for beginners. Gradient maps look really confusing when you’re first starting to use them, even if you know what each part of it does in theory

    This video is actually legendary. The fact that you break it down into how to achieve it through the progamme interface (sorry I don't know the right term haha) so that even if you don't have the same drawing programme, you know what to look for helped me massively!
    A lot of my friends use clip studio and as much as I want to too, I'm short on leisurely spending money so I use Krita. A great app, but (imo) lacking in the creator brushes featured in clip to make artists' lives easier. So the fact that I could essentially find and achieve the same shortcuts but through the actual programme and not shortcut brushes is actually making me tear up.
    That and just the brief but understandable explanations to methods such as using the curve will just make my life easier!
    Sorry for the lack of coherency in this comment!!! This video just made me insanely happy as an artist.
