I think one of the reasons he learnt so quickly is the amount of discipline he has and for some of us it's really difficult to draw everyday and he deserves a lot of respect for that

Yeah and I saw people say its because he's rich and dosnt have to work a job so he has time. Like yeah but he still says he goes to the gym every day, and literally has a child that him and marzia take care of without a nanny. So its still impressive hes been practicing every day for a year.

Yeah, the discipline and constistence definitely were huge factor, and he's amazing for doing all that! But because many artists who react to his videos don't say anything but praise, some beginners get false expectations when they just starting, let's not forget that Felix does have engineering degree (or at least he did study for it) and he's also familiar with Photoshop. So he didn't start with literal 0 knowledge, he already had very good basics, he knew color stuff, shading, etc. I'd say that if you compare Felix to just a complete beginner at the start of their journey, Felix would have at least a year of advantage over the other guy.
What Felix achieved is still very impressive and with enough time and discipline anyone can achieve his level!

A big part is he focused early on in a way that let him grow he also had the dunning Kruger effect hit him a bit later which is normal for all artist the main thing is he focused early on, had fun with it and a good mindset along with his photoshop experience which while he may not view it as an art background absolutely is given even things like photobashing/photoshop to a degree transfer over to other artistic skills like understanding colour, good design and training what you see. Like he also said in his video I think him being older also helped a lot as a large portion of art is problem solving and we tend to be better at it when we are older. Another thing is he has a good support system, not only from his wife but his community and artist as a whole people who are professionals giving him feedback also helps a lot which is something a lot of self taught people do not find out till later a mentor will make your progress double most of the time he has a lot of stuff that just blended together really well and kept him motivated

@@K_Petar it’s funny cuz it more likely that he’s just drawing during the time they’re on social media.

I took the culinary route, and you want to learn the recipes before you add your own flavor to the recipe to make it yours, and drawing is the same. Work on anatomy and realism and then “add your own flavor”. Love your videos, btw! I've thought about this a lot: how someone will pick up art later in life and just excel at it. Seemingly catching up to lifelong artists in no time. And I have a few ideas why this might be..
    1. This beginner has ZERO attachment to their art outcome. Meaning, they haven't spent countless years questioning themselves and their art. They aren't holding their creation to a high standard. There's likely no pressure, and so they just practice and create - freely. The fun is the focus! If any other you are like me, then half the battle of being an artist is overcoming your own fear of creating badly. Their beginner mindset allows them to flourish!
    2. XP Multiplier. The more skills we learn, the better we become at learning. So we can learn skills much faster later in life.
But the main point is, don't let these kind of beginners discourage any of you! If someone overtakes you in a year that takes nothing away from your journey. Everyone has their own brain, path, and way of living.

As someone who has always loved art, but never formally trained in it(whether in a school or from some online source) and just did it for fun, PewDiePie's video came as an awakening call. Like, from past few years, i havent been able to do art as much as i would like. Job demands my time and rest of the time, i just dont do art..and then the guilt haunts me later as i am not improving what so ever. He did, just one or two sketches daily. Not complete detailed finishes, but rough sketches, to get his brain wired for correct proportions.
I feel so proud of him, and almost embarassed on myself that I did not do something so small and as a result I missed out on so much improvement. Not just art, but in other facets of my life as well. I dunno man, this is way too inspirational for me. It made me feel bad for a while but then it also hyped me up...

I've been drawing since 2019. My art has significantly improved but I feel like compared to PewDiePie I have barely improved. I hate my art but I still draw. It's like therapy to me. I know its weird af for me to just put this out there randomly but Im gonna do it anyway. I started off by watching drawing tutorials and following along. Tho most of my old art was lost when my aunt ripped them all to shreds I still remember vividly what it was like completing my first artwork. Eventually I kept on drawing and drawing. Always challenging myself and trying new things. However, last year I became bored of drawing using yt videos so I began teaching myself how to draw without them. I went back and taught myself the basics and ever since learning how to draw a head I've stagnated heavily. Just a few months ago I met this guy at senior school. He was a year above me and he was an art guru. Or atleast I called him that. His art inspired me heavily and since then I've been trying to learn how to draw full bodies and dynamic poses. I'm not the best at faces either. Year I see people like PewDiePie getting this good in a single year. Some people are just born great man😂

His progress has definitely inspired me. For a while I basically gave up on drawing and I was at a point where I was thinking I might give it up for good (though I still did 3D and texture painting). But after his second video, it kinda lit a fire in me to finally put in the effort needed to get my illustration skills up to snuff. Still feels like I got a long ways to go, but channels like yours and others help inspire me to keep plugging away at it.

I never drew as a kid, but a few months ago i wanted to start this journey because I thought art was cool. But it‘s so hard to do something you never had a passion for. But these videos keep me motivated and after drawing for some time I realised it is a part of my life now and that makes me happy.

It just hurts way too badly to try to get something out for it and it would only make the process a lot slower. Like i legit can draw, but my body has other plans especially during colder weather.

5:50 this is what I'm missing .. fun... 😢 i used to draw a lot when i was a teenager..and i did it just for fun. Not for clicks or likes(there was no social media at that time anyway) or with the mind of "it needs to be perfect". I didnt even have fancy tools, i just used cheap pencils, papers, erasers, but i loved it..i drew a lot from kingdom hearts, final fantasy and Tomb raider. But nowadays this spark is gone...i dont have fun anymore, everything looks ugly to me or is pointless because of AI. I wish i could somehow find this feeling again...joy :(

I was in a similar situation as Pewdiepie. I always loved to draw, and when I was in my early days of college, I really wanted to get better at drawing anime. Focused a lot on the faces, and eventually, I reached a point where I also picked up an anime artbook about anatomy and perspective. But this is where I fell off. My progress was slow, and I didn't have the patience and discipline to keep at it. So I slowly reached a point where I stopped completely. I'm also in my mid-30s and now I'm wondering if I should try again.

Something I took from one of the other reactions to this video is that he's used to having hard lines in his shading from the markers but when he switched to digital he used the airbrush. Seeing the difference in action really shows me the real meaning of that "don't use the airbrush" advice. I understood it, but I didn't REALLY understand it at the same time.

What I love about PewDiePie's journey in art, from day one to 365, is he took himself which was just a MASSIVE hammer dude, and then he got into art and drawing and can now make some very very good art, that helped me get into drawing and art, as I can relate as i myself am a gamer and have been for 25 years of my life. And now I found a passion for art and drawing, especially digital art.

The thing with this video, that he shows he’s progress and comes off as inspirational, is bco how grounded it is. He does note hate on his own art, progress or skills in any way, he talks about his plan, he’s progress and what he learned and would have done different. It’s such a grounded video, where he just wanted to show he did something else, and it gives inspiriation and shows how even the best is not best at everything the first day.

Yeah seriously. If he picks up his own style and practices it for a bit more he can literally become a manga artist. (not saying he should, idk if he wants to just saying that he can) because for example manga like attack on titan, one of most popular and one of best in the world had "bad" art in the beggining. It was still good dont get me wrong but the author improved by a mile, and look at pewdiepie already at this level just by practicing not even drawing any "official" pieces of art or anything.

Yeah, when I first saw Pewdiepie's video, I did feel pretty encouraged when he opened up about his frustrations. Sometimes the progress includes backing up a few steps, and that can be disheartening at times. I say this as an (almost) 28 year old who's been drawing for 27 and a half years. I really wish I was further along than I am, or had time to dedicate to more Art, but you can't let yourself get too discouraged. I also gave a little "Hey! It's Sam!" when he put you in his video.

I started drawing during my junior year of high school. I then went to college and got a minor in art. I practiced light / shadow, and proportions so much. When I look back I actually liked my style just starting out because it was just so free. I feel like being forced to draw with a criteria made my drawings stiff. It’s been years since I’ve drawn but I always tell myself I’ll get back into it. Loved using charcoal, pastel, and especially acrylic paints. The issue is setting up the studio to paint and I know I’d lock in 40+ hours obsessing over one painting. It’s SO much fun though. I felt like acrylic paints is what finally let me be creative again and it felt amazing.

Its about mindset. People can say whatever they want to say, but if you want to be good or great at anything, this is how it's done. I'm also an artist. Sick and tired of other artists saying its because of his money and how much time he has. You can have all the time and money in the world and it will not make you a better artist. It's not about how much time or resources you have, it's about how you use the time and resources available to you. What people need is to be focused and consistent. It's about discipline, not resources. If you're talking about resources, all you really need is a pencil and a blank piece of paper. Anyway, Pewdiepie did good. proud of him. I hope he keeps going, it would be cool if he did his own comic or book.

Totally agree with your comment about drawing greyscale, in design school our professor started with us only being able to use greyscale. then after some time we got to pick 1 color, so we could use that 1 color and greyscale. then repeat till you have a palette. When I started learning to draw I did this again because its going to be easier to focus on shapes and how light works on things before adding in colors to the mix and everything that entails till you are ready and have a good understanding of the other aspects.
