I noticed the same thing, too
89 was THE year for live Metallica. They were unstoppable. Still love them today and recently watched them live but I would kill to have seen them live in 89
My favorite era of Metallica right here...
Monsters of Rock' Joe Albi outdoor Stadium Spokane Washington 1989. 105 degree's in the shade' people were passing out from heatstroke. They had every hose there going spraying everyone in the crowd! It was Hella 👌 Awesome! My woman was topless- so was I 👍🤤
Honestly they were just as great during the black album tours.

At 7:27, James puts a hand to his heart for who I can only imagine is Cliff (Bell Tolls is just starting).... I'm not crying, you're crying.
exactly! I think you are so fucking right.
James is absolutely without a doubt the GOAT of frontmen. The ability to play what he plays and sing while doing it is a feat of strength. Any guitar player out there knows what I'm talking about.
And playing the guitar hanging down to his knees
now tell a guitar player to play some megadeth and do the same thing and see what they do lol
Best picking hand in the business !!
For sure. No easy feat.
And did you know that James Hetfield down picks? Anybody can be faster with alternate picking, going up and down. James treats his hand like a hammer, a jackhammer. And continues to throw it down at rapid fire. 🔥
This era is when James Hetfield established himself as the most bad-ass frontman in metal. Angry and literally snarling. Araya is cool, Max is awesome, Phil rocks, but Hetfield is the alpha.
and he looked naturally menacing
All that and he's the best rhythm axe man in the game.
angry and literally snarling front man (dave mustaine) wrote and published that book my friend
@@kevinrodriguez9701 are you seriously saying that dave is a better frontman than james? I love dave but hes not a better frontman than james. Guitar player? Maybe.

Youth sure is a powerful thing. Kirk's playing is so damn clean, and you know none of them were even slightly sober here. Yet every note is clear as a bell. James not giving a crap about the health of his vocal chords. Lars using more than his wrists. Sobriety ain't got shit on invincible youth.
Go to bed pal
True Day! Back when Lars played double bass!
Yeah, but you can only pull that shit for so long.
And it took a toll on them.

When they came to Hawaii on this tour we had been waiting for them for years. Jason sang the last verse of Whiplash. The whole floor section was a pit from first note to last.
