RM125 lunch for 2 with few dishes is quite normal for a first world country like HK. Average Salary in HK is HKD20k while Malaysia is at RM3k. Even Singapore can fetch to that price sometime.
You should also try Bak Kut Teh ( 肉骨茶 herbal soup) , is a Malaysian Chinese'a famous food. My Japanese friends really love it when they were in Malaysia.

I m from penang Malaysia but now I lived in New York Brooklyn,so every time when I want to eat malaysian food I cook it myself so easy to make like char koay teow,Curry mee,Assam laksa,prawn mee,hainan chicken ,loh mee n etc you can make curry mee at home .penang curry mee is white curry mee so the soup is coconut base with pork bones n make the curry paste on the side

Onde-onde just like mochi in Japan.. it made from glutinous rice flour. Then put inti kelapa made from coconut flash n brown sugar..after u boil it u must roll it on coconut flash but if u don't want that coconut..u can eat it just like that but here in Malaysia we call it kuih kochi..so tasty..
If you visit Malaysia next time, especially Kuala Lumpur, you can look for local Chinese food in Petaling Jaya/Serdang area. Many Chinese in KL are able speak Cantonese and are heavily influenced by Hong Kong/Guangdong lifestyle. If compared to Penang, the cultures in Penang are more similar to Fujian or Taiwan, so you will find the food slightly different over here. There are many more famous Malaysian food you have previously missed. You have to try our famous Char Kuey Teow, Bak Kut Teh, and go to our Mamak to try our Roti with Milo

Unusual way to serve satay but that's a great idea I think to serve satay soaked in the sauce. The sauce is usually served separately and you dip it in the sauce. It's actually difficult to get the sauce onto all part of the satay.

nah, i think food price in aussie is more expensive. like curry laksa or nasi lemak cost aud14-15. roti plata aud7-8 , roti telur about aud10-11.. curry laksa costs at hkd 52 (aud 10) is quite cheap here.

Def, foods in aussie should be more expensive. We spend a most portion of our salary on the food. Generally, I find that the food portion in aussie, especially in brisbane, is as big as the asian portion but the food portion in Sydney is larger. In my previous reply, I only focused on daily food price instead of other living expenses since they are too difficult to compare with many discrepancies in the price level in both countries.
@@natandsam1764 the wagyu burger cost about aud21-23. the steak can be aud30+-50 here. it is depend on the restaurant. btw most asian restaurant bought the beef from aussie. we produce the beef but it is as expensive as in aussie:( but our milk and some westen ingredient are damn cheap. 1 litre milk for aud 1.25, 2 litres milk for 2.35. fruits like berries are cheap here as well because we produce these ingredients ourself.

I wish they use mee instead of macaroni. Its weird to put that because the taste maybe not same as malaysian mee curry. But thanks for trying our dishes. We are very lucky to have some people who loves malaysian food.
