You can definitely put butter on kaya toast! Kaya is made of sugar, pandan leaves and coconut. I prefer the green one more than the brown kind. Brown kind uses brown sugar or gula malaka (i think). While the green ones usually have panda leave juice and uses white sugar. Homemade ones are usually nicer. I also wanna share that it tastes great to eat kaya together with fried egg and bread. AND there are a lot of kaya brand. My family usually eat Gardenia's kaya. Gardenia is one type of brand for bread in Malaysia
Just found your vlog. Awesome. I started from beginning and have not seen the rest of your video. You mentioned about "Ginger" durian. That could be Raja Kunyit (kunyit or tumeric is same family as ginger). It is the original name for Musang King. The birthplace of Musang King is Gua Musang in the state of Kelantan and Kunyit is the common name used in Kelantan for Musang King.

I totally agree. I prefer tekka over musang but tekka is so difficult to find these days. Not to mention difficult to open on your own which is quite tough since need to wait a day if it is bought fresh.
Different place in malaysia has different food specialty. So u surely feel amaze with their different taste of the same dish. For laksa only,if you go to other state, their serving style will different.
You should review Malaysian products too. Would be glad to see your review about local products because there are so many quality local products that we ourselves dont know. Thanks guys.
Such a sweet and gentle video. Love to see your curiosity and enthusiasm for knowledge and details. Surprised to see you know about duck egg kaya, which is not very common. Kaya toast normally does have butter. They either serve the butter in a small side dish so you can put as much as you like on the toast or they will serve it with little chunks of butter already inside. You can also try to make steamed kaya bread where the bread is steamed instead of toasted. This makes the kaya bread much softer and less dry and easier to eat. Sabah is very beautiful and has different types of durian. The place in Kuala Lumpur you are referring to I think is SS2, which has many durian eating places where you can try many different types of durian in one place. Bentong and Raub, which is about 1.5 hours to 2 hours drive from KL, are where there are a lot of commercial durian farms famous for Musang King. Some farms offer farmstays and you can learn about durian from the farmers. During durian season, when you drive out into the countryside you can see temporary stalls selling wild durian or durian kampung, which is durian that has not been commercialized. You will not know what to expect from these durians because they are not commercial varieties and you can sometimes be surprised. Apparently one such place near to KL is Hulu Langat which is about one hour drive from KL.
Nuuuu follow season if not what you will be eating is god-knows what hybrid thingy from Thailand and they generally taste bad. Unless you’re desperate for it.
I think Malaysian durian season almost all year that started from north peninsular and end at Ranau Sabah. Because I realized if Peninsular have durian season, sabah is not yet, and Sarawak is in the middle or almost finished of season, sabah just started to the season and seems peninsular just totally finished the season. And I refer this season to durian kampung and other seasonal local fruit.
Hoo...quite possible. Different region different seasons. But on my part, rarely hear about East Malaysia side 😅😅 and Penang's durian season does overlap with Raub's season....kinda
@@iank88 this is kinda pros being in the middle state, hahaha. I realize this few years ago, when my relative in Kuching says it durian season, and my relative in Limbang also sarawak (next to brunei) say they are not yet, and the fruit still very young. And when limbang in middle of season, sabah like area of spitang / beaufort just started the season. (you will know it when the seller sell 'not so much' durian, and the durian some times not so good in taste. Which we normally say 'baru belajar berbuah" and sometimes expensive). And it will end at Ranau because my neighbor recently go to family orchard in Ranau and sell here. Then the next year I watched in tv about fruit season in peninsular, sabah are not yet in season, and repeated season pattern which I see from Kch to Ranau make me sure that our local fruit season is actually start from peninsular for almost whole year.

My Philippines friends wanted to buy many kaya when he came to Malaysia. I never know kaya only have in our country. 😂
Perhaps you can travel to Ipoh next time 😊
It's just one and a half hour driving from Penang, or 2 and half hours from KL.
Bet you will like ipoh food too 😊
Happy travelling 😀
U should try durian names "tekka" so delicious..
I totally agree. I prefer tekka over musang but tekka is so difficult to find these days.
Not to mention difficult to open on your own which is quite tough since need to wait a day if it is bought fresh.
Omg omg ...u r the UA-camr rite now.. ❤️❤️❤️ love from 🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾

Different place in malaysia has different food specialty. So u surely feel amaze with their different taste of the same dish. For laksa only,if you go to other state, their serving style will different.
Wait, you guys don't have "kaya" flavor?
Kaya + butter toast are the best combination. Yums!
Why don't you go to Sarawak?
So many food is served
Deliciousssss
For the kaya toast you eat in Malaysia, some place does mix butter.
Hi! iChang I'm your new subscribers..

You should review Malaysian products too. Would be glad to see your review about local products because there are so many quality local products that we ourselves dont know. Thanks guys.
Sorry if the guy is the boyfriend/husband.
I wanted to say. She is cute.
Haha.
Ichang, wife voice so sweet,
“Musang King” - original name is “kunyit”- which is the Malay meaning of “ginger”- you are RIGHT!
Vincent Tan, kunyit in english is tumeric n ginger in malay is halia.
iChang you pay visit to Melaka/Malacca, full of Nyonya food & dessert here. Can try to drink coconut water to remove the body heat.
Not all time u can have durian, depends on the season.. so make more research before u coming to malaysia or else u gonna dissapointed
No, Actually you pretty much can get durian all around the year but it much more expensive compare to during the season.
