Both these amps sound really beautiful. Marshall have finally got it with the power attenuation and taking the brittle out of the sound. Must say I really want both of them..lol:))
On the Origin series - which I am super-stoked about - they should have called the "Tilt" control, the "Blend" control, because you are, essentially, blending the high & low channels of an old school Marshall 'Plexi'-type amplifier, by jumping the channels, as we all know was the method used... just my opinion. I kinda find it funny how on all these NAMM videos about the Origin series, they dance around and avoid using the term 'Plexi', even though everyone knows that this is basis of the amp series. LOL
I just bought the new dsl40cr; great greta amp!Much better than my old dsl 40;its crazy how much better it sounds! I suggest getting the 6 way switch,i just got mine in today! You could gig this amp without any pedals, but I gotta have my phase 90 and wah! Im serious tho give the dsl40cr a try!
I have tried the orgin50 ...really hoping for a classic rock vibe. I found it terribly bright no matter how I set it. I guess for pedals is where is would work best
DSL sounds much better. Kind of a bad omen if he couldn't even see the light sitting right there. Wonder if the footswitch will have indicators so you can tell where you are
The footswitch does have LEDs. Also, I just got the new DSL20HR, and the lights on the head are very bright. Even brighter than the DSL15. I think they just had bright lights shining directly on the amp for this vid, which made it harder to see. I have zero problem seeing the channel indicator lights on my DSL20HR. I would assume the DSL40CR should be no different.
No reverb, NEXT. Im so sick of no reverb in amps. I like reverb in fx loop but i have lots of amps so its so bloody annoying to have to change the fx loop plugs from one to another. Guess you one amp peeps dont have that issue but ive got 6 amps.
Pretty sure he didn't show the Origin in the best light here - if it is aimed to sound like a vintage Plexi he didn't cover half the tones it is capable of. The DSL is a whole different beast, for me it'd be much too modern - fingers crossed I'll be happy when my 20W Origin arrives! I suspect it'll be like mini Bluesbreaker/Plexi hybrid :D
Francis Pimentel will do, although my order just got bumped to the 17th March... looks like I have more wait than expected! (Was meant to be on Monday).
I agree, I just bought the dsl40 cr! I had played both at guitar center;with pedals the orgin would be great! I just hate using my pedals at practice, gigs are a must!
Do these Marshall amps use diodes for their gain circuit? Are they made in China or some other cheap labour jurisdiction? Every Marshall post the 800 used A DS1 style circuit to emulate amp distortion.
They're made in Vietnam. You are wrong. Just few models of the 800 and 900 series used to have diodes in the preamp but from the 2000 they went all tube
My DSL 40C didn't need to be "revoiced", it needed the shit 70-80 speaker replaced. I swapped in a G12-75H creamback and it sounds awesome.
Another brilliant video from the Thomann team. Superb.
DSL sounds great!!!
Really like the Orgin as well. May be getting 2 new amps.
I can’t fucking wait for the Origin 50 Head. BE-OD and Sp Comp in the front, Spark booster in the back. Game over.
The DSL crunch channel was killer. The DSL lead channel was definitely tighter and less shrill. Nice

Killer review straight to the point!!! Sounds awesome

Great demo. Thanks. Steven - are you a Brummie? VTID!
The Origin sounds much better to my ears. Warmer and more dynamics. The DSL is for more modern styles I suppose...
thinking about the dls40cr. and of course im getting it from you since no other international dealer has so low prices like you
I like the origin cause it doesn’t have reverb and I’m ocd. I have a flint so my reverb/ trem is covered.
lol same here
Any full grown men who'll just chill crosslegged on the floor are my kinda dudes lol And at NAMM, no less! :P XD
Keep up the great work!
That's the tone my man!
Interesting but why put a 10" speaker in the 20W combo? And why no 1 12" dedicated cab for the 20W head?
Man, that DSL rocks!
Very nice ...super informative
no more problems like most owners of the JCM 2000 DSL use to have ??
I am interested in this amp, but every demo I have heared is with effects. I would love to hear it dry. Also, what is the country of origin
If you go to Thomann website and look for this amp, you can see the rear panel image and it says: "made in Vietnam" under the Marshal logo.
Steven has to be the first one to hate these amps
That's like the 13th video I've seen of him demoing these amps for different channels😂

What's the weight of the 40 watt DSL? I read they are a little more compact now... looks and sounds interesting.
Weight is virtually identical, and they are the exact same dimensions as the previous ones.
Can the marshall origin 50h do metal vibes ?
Anything can do metal, but are you metal enough? 🤟
Thomann Music hhh yeaah

Good player
Yeh boi-EEEEEEE!!!!!

Duuude, pleeease make a review of that one hahaha Im thinking about get a origin 20w too but i havent hear much of it yet
Francis Pimentel will do, although my order just got bumped to the 17th March... looks like I have more wait than expected! (Was meant to be on Monday).
Marc R yeah man, thankss! Don’t worry about the time, it will take 2 months to the origin be available here in my country hahaha 😂
Ive been very interested in a single channel head to run as my stereo amp. These are interesting for sure
I think digital reverb and digital recording out is very bad choice!!! If you go analog most likely you do not want digital.
I'm really thinking those Origins don't have nearly enough gain. The DSL's sound way more usable to me, a Van Halen tone chaser since 82!
I actually think (by the looks and layout) that the Origin is aimed to the Instagram gear guys playing Supro and other boutique combo amps.
Lord Quilton they look down on dsl because it sucks,
i loved the dsl in this vid really, a lot more than the origin series
*facepalm* A vintage-inspired amp that doesn't have high gain - WHO KNEW!?! ;) lol
